Through this company I was able to gain the perfect, year-long school placement in China, back in 2016. This company provided me with a great deal of support before travelling to China and throughout my placement. I’m so grateful that I chose this company to go with, as they equipped with all the information and support leaving me with a great deal of confidence throughout. I highly recommend this company to anyone who is considering teaching in China.

A great company, to work for, who liaise with many top schools and educational institutes throughout China. I had a great time meeting with Arnold - who was very informative, engaging, fun and showed great expertise in his field, I had many questions ( I normally am a little inquisitive) Arnold was thorough, transparent, helpful and reassured me of the help I will individually receive going to another country. I have taught in schools in Asia before but not in China so I know what to expect to a degree and definitely know when someone is selling me a pipe dream. I like to thank Arnold for all his help and congratulate his deep abiding tendency to labour with his employees until the desired result. If this is your first time flying out to China, I would 100% recommend TEIC to you. Thanks again.

In 2015, I lived in China to become an English & P.E teacher for a year through the Teach English In China Agency. I also submitted blog posts for TEIC regarding my experiences. From my preparation and tenure in China, the support I had from Arnold was nothing short of brilliant, with advice and suggestions on offer whenever I needed. Moving to another country and into a new job can be a daunting and at times overwhelming experience. Arnold was instrumental in orchestrating a community amongst all who used Teach English In China and providing a support system for us. If anyone has the desire to Teach English In China, I would 100% recommend they do so through Arnold and the Teach English In China Agency

I decided to use TEIC to go to Beijing and quite frankly it was a total disappointment, and the service was a complete disaster for the following reasons:

1. While this organization claims to help you during the visa process, you'll quickly discover this is not the case, you will be given a PDF with some rather vague (and often misleading) instructions and when you ask for help you'll be told to find the answer yourself. The 'support' can be best described as lazy at worst malicious, and don't expect a quick response - once your in China expect around a 1 month for a (useless) reply.

2. TEIC claims to have contacts with '100s' of schools across China, however this is not the case - rather TEIC is just a middle man for another agency within China and HAS NO connections with Schools in China. TEIC will simply take your details and send them to an agency in China (with VERY questionable business practices) and charge you $400 for the privilege.

3. Terrible Pay. The pay is dreadful, I was given 8,500RMB a month and told that's a great wage. It is not. Unless of course you prefer life off the grid, wearing the same clothes everyday and eating pot noodle for every meal.

4. You won't get what your promised. TEIC and it's partner agency in China will find every opportunity to take a bite out of your salary for seemingly bogus reasons. This is best exemplified by the '$120' TV fee I was made to pay in my 5 month in China and when I tried to complain they simply said they'd take the rest of my salary. TEIC won't help you and will actively do everything they can to screw you over once your in China - it was no surprise when TEIC didn't even pay for my flights....

5. TEIC claims to have a lesson plan library to help you and it's a joke. Yes you'll find lesson plans, but are they useful? no. There's about 5 lessons to choose from.

To conclude, TEIC is a joke, you'll be paid badly, you won't get help and you'll feel at best conned. My advice to apply directly to China (best to wait at the moment..) and use a job board, as they'll actually sort you out and it won't cost you anything.

I really enjoyed my time abroad with Teach English in China. I found TEIC supportive and knowledgeable throughout my long term placement in a Chinese Primary school but particularly in the initial stage, visa process and because of their experience with schools. I highly recommend TEIC for this reason and going to teach in China was a fantastic experience.

Just Avoid this agency.

This agency will put you - as it did for me - at a bad school with very low wages. Don’t even exspect to even be able to afford McDonalds on a TEIC salary - TEIC does not connect you with a school but instead another agency inside China so your just paying for a middle man…. No point - Don’t make my mistake go direct to china.

Support is limited and the staff seem to have a rather poor understanding of China - ironic but true. TEIC was asking me for help when doing my Visa and how to get a TEFL - so definitely not worth the service.

Don’t waste your time stuck in China on a low salary with no support - TEIC will not help you. I waited for 2 months for a reply from TEIC so providing a good service is not part of their business model. I were going to china again I would 100% avoid this agency - and do not pay for it.

Going with TEIC was the best way for me to experience living in China. It allowed me to meet and travel with an amazing group of people, many of whom are still some of my best friends. The training provided was invaluable and a great way to quickly gain experience, and the initial summer camp was a challenging but rewarding way to acclimatise! I would recommend TEIC to anyone whose considering moving to China, in my opinion the level of support you get and the people you meet make it exceptional.

Teach English in China have been great throughout the whole process of moving to China and I could not recommend them more!

Right from the very start they were incredibly supportive and were able to explain my available options when it came to teaching in China. The stayed in contact with me and gave me regular updates during the application process through emails, social events and Skype/telephone calls.

They also made the entire visa process incredibly straight forward (which is a fairly long and complicated process) and were always easy to get in contact with at any point during the application process.

Unlike other agencies I have heard horror stories about, TEIC are both friendly and incredibly helpful and I would not hesitate to use them again!

My experience with TEIC was fantastic! Applying with them was one of my best decisions after graduating. One thing I am most thankful for about my time teaching in China is the amazing people I met through TEIC. I made friends for life and contributed to being able to settle into China with great people around me. TEIC had some many wonderful extra touches like their orientation in London, summer camp in Beijing and the support given by their team. I could not recommend TEIC enough for their amazing support,service, and the most fantastic time in China - where I have no been living for over 3 years!

Teach English in China is an agency that sends your to agency in China - i.e TEIC is a middle-middle man. So avoid and go direct to school or agency in China (There’s plenty of good ones)

The biggest issue is Low pay - AVOID this agency if you want a good wage I’d say I was being paid around 40% less than what other teachers were getting in Chengdu

There is limited support TEIC simply will send you scripted emails and once you encounter a problem exspect to be ‘hung out to dry’

TEIC sold me on the idea that they offer lots of free day trips and other cultural activities but all year long there was just 2 - a very mediocre Christmas party (Which isn’t a Chinese cultural activity…) and another to some wierd mountain resort to do go karting

Teaching can be fun and that the only reason I stayed was because of my students but don’t be humiliated by the low wages - it’s super embarrassing to know that your not being paid a far wage.

I couldn’t recommend this program enough. Ever since making the decision to move and teach in China, TEIC has been nothing but helpful. During that time, I attended an information day held in London where Amy gave her experiences and advice, from budgeting to everyday life out in China.
The orientation day came around very soon where everyone doing the TEFL training program had a chance to meet each other and learn more about the process - the Chinese visa process is not easy but TEIC couldn’t have made it any easier for us.
On arriving in China, during the training camp and teaching at a summer camp, Amy was nothing but extremely helpful. Any single problem we had was resolved and I got a lot out of that experience, on the teaching side but also being able to meet other teachers based in similar locations in China. Even arriving at our allocated school, Amy and Arnold have been extremely helpful and have no problem answering any question, regardless how small, we have.
Couldn’t recommend this program enough!!

TEIC has been a life saver in helping me start the amazing opportunity of teaching in Shanghai. The continuous guidance and support from Arnold and Amy meant that my application and visa process was as smooth as possible. The process can be very challenging and i wouldn’t have got to China without their help. I highly recommend TEIC to anyone considering this opportunity!

There’s a huge disconnect between other reviews on this site and my own experience of “Teach English In China” and the service provided.

Having read/watched all the content available on the website and successfully interviewed, I have to say that when I arrived in China and started teaching I felt I’d been conned. Whatever “Teach English in China” offers or promises you, you can do much better applying directly to an educational institution without a middleman.

Not only that, but school I was assigned was nothing like what had been described to me. The locals call you a “white monkey” because oral English is not part of the university admissions examination and therefore regarded as a frivolous subject - Teach English certainly won’t tell you that. If you have no self respect and don’t mind living below the noodle line, go with them.

If not, I would avoid at all cost.

Amazing experience one of the best times of my life and I am still keeping in touch now, 7 years on! Teachers were amazing, it was just an all round incredible experience. Don't hesitate you only live once in this life

Teach English in China are a great company to help you move to China to live and work. From the start their staff have been very professional, supportive and helpful. They help with every stage of the process and provide continued support throughout. TEIC is definitely the best company to use if you want to start teaching in China - can't recommend them enough!

Teach English in China have been absolutely great in helping me get a teaching job in China. The company has been excellent in providing support and guidance both before getting to China and now that I'm here. Securing a position and a working visa would have been 100x more difficult without all their help and so I would definitely recommend TEIC to anyone who is thinking of taking the plunge and moving to China.

Doing the TEFL training programme also meant that I have a large network of friends all over the country which is great for when I want to go travelling.

I only decided fairly late on that I wanted to move to China to teach English, and TEIC made the whole process so easy and stress-free.

Moving abroad will always be daunting, but there was so much support both before moving and once in China that meant all my questions were answered and I was able to just enjoy the experience.

You get to meet so many amazing people during the training week, and you instantly build a network of people in China all going through the same experiences as you.

Teach English in China has been a blessing! I knew I wanted to come to China and teach for while but I didn't know how. The company has such a large support network and guides you through the process from the very day you are accepted and has yet to stop guiding me. I did the TEFL programme at the Beijing training camp, and a member of their staff who had experienced it all a couple years back was there to help us through the entire course! The staff at teach English in China not only give you support in your application and training but are also there for you on a personal level. Gutted to have seen their staff leave, but I feel prepared more than ever to face my future in teaching in China thanks to them.

If you’re thinking of working in China then TEIC is your best option! They provide so much support with the visa process and the school application process that something that should have been complicated was made stress free. Once in China at the TEFL training you get on site support for everything you could possibly think of so you’re adaption to life in China is smooth. I couldn’t have gotten to this point without Teach English in China
