Terrible game
Terrible game, they make character builds difficult, in game items way to expensive, the best play action only happens when you reach lvl 99+, and even if you grind your avatar to the top you don't get full use of abilities unless you do so unrelated task like farming to get say mage spells. diablo is a much larger game by far and has none of the complexity rs3 does. waste of money!
Runescape Awesome game, HORRIBLE CARE
runescape itself is a great game and altho its graphics are ehh i have played for a long time and it means a lot to me as it was a childhood past time i shared with many friends. I recently got on an old account (frodoburgins) that had only been through training camp, got my mining to lvl 30 something by mining gems and iron. i was super happy with how this account was going i was trying to make more of a black smith and just work those stats to be able to craft cool gear and sell on grand exchange. the next day i get on and my account was ban permanently due to (Macroing) i didn't know what that was so i had to look it up and basically they think i used some kinda hack to get my skill lvl up. i put in at least 5-6 hours maybe even more on that character and i can not get ahold of JAGGEX. i feel that this is super unfair to me as a player. that is real time that i will never get back and it seems like they do not even care about the players at all. no actual way to contact support and they never get back to you via email. This is not cool especially since there are some people who pay to play. i have a few accounts that are and or have been pay to play myself. A company like this should care for its players because without them there would be no Jaggex. I have never felt more unappreciated as a consumer or as aggravated by the lack of care. If i hadn't put in YEARS on some of my other characters i would never play this game again. I am seriously thinking about it too. It may seem small time to some but imagine putting in a full day of work and not getting a dime for it then you get fired for working too well. hmm. i guess i just though Jaggex was better than that, but i was dead wrong. i hope they see this and decide to reach out to some of the neglected players.
I have actually had a positive…
I have actually had a positive experience with the Runescape customer support. The two complaints I do have is firstly due to the response time, it usually takes about three to four days to recieve a response, which is quite a while compared to other customer support services. Secondly is how difficult it is to actually nagivate through the website to contact a human being. What you need to do is either search for payment issues or lost items, in order to get to an area where you can contact a human being. But what you actually want to contact them about, can have nothing to do with the above categories.
I had decided to contact Runescape support, to try and recieve a 14 day trial, as I have not received a trial on my account before. The first time I got a response the indivudal told me that he was not willing to provide me with one. So I decided to send the same message again to runescape support. The message was received by a different employee, and he was very kind and polite and was willing to provide me with a 14 day trial. So if you don't get the answer you want, you can just send the message again, so another person can help you out. Overall I'm quite pleased.
Good Game, Garbage Security
Runescape Support is pretty much non-existent. If you have any issues with the game and need to contact someone, they make it impossible. Unless you want to try tweeting them, at which point they merely redirect you to their support site which is "fully automated".
Their security is garbage, as you cannot use special characters in your passwords. My account had an authenticator placed on it, but there was no email notification. My character was not where I had left him, and whomever had taken control had attempted to remove my bank PIN (also no email notification).
Is the game good? Yeah. But Jagex as a company doesn't seem to be making any efforts whatsoever to secure their product.
Also, what kind of game system doesn't let you change your login email?
Great game needs more reg updates though
been a while since i played
been a while since i played. Still fun.
During covid-19 I wanted to do…
During covid-19 I wanted to do something to keep myself busy due to mental health reasons. Runescape was a great distraction and I was playing 15+ hours a day. It saved me in a way. However now my account has been banned for suspected macro-ing which is ludicrous. Not only has my mental health now got worse because of it.
A Miserable Attempt at Nostalgic Gaming
I created an account a little over a month ago and started playing for the first time in over 10 years. I was having fun and decided to get a membership and had reached overall lv 1500 by the end of Dxp. Yesterday I started doing quests for the first time, I did Family Crest. Then today when I went to login it told me my account has been banned. The 'Learn More' link failed and it took my a bunch of mucking around on runescape's many defunct webpages to find any info about my ban. When I finally do get to it, it says I have been banned for "Macroing". It says the offence is un-appealable and Jagex does not have any kind of support email or phone. So basically I paid for a membership that I can't use and lost my account that I had been enjoying and playing a ton on for the last two months. I honestly think its safe to call Jagex's lack of support for paying customers criminal, they are more difficult to get in contact with than Comcast or Bank of America.....
Long story short, do not make the mistake of paying for a membership as it might be revoked with no cause at any point with zero opportunity for recourse.
One star because I can't give none
Only one star because I can't give none.
I am a very loyal player with almost 1y of playing time and RS has been part of my life for atleast 13 years. 4/05/2020 I got the message that my main account (smallekalle) was banned for macroing. I immediately send an appeal but wasn't able to explain anything and got a pretty fast and rude reply that my account will be banned forever.
I'm absolutely heart-broken since they are treating me like I'm a full-time botter that abuses this game to the fullest. There are plenty of accounts that are botting millions of exp yet they ban a loyal player that clearly has nothing to do with botting. I was mainly active in pvp, none of non-combat skills were above level 70. They don't even make the effort to look at your stats/exp rates to make a decision.
They have the most unfriendly system I've ever seen for people who are banned incorrectly. Don't even think of starting this game because at every moment you could get banned and there is nothing you can do about it. The only thing you can do is sending a pré written bullcrap appeal without being able to explain anything. If that appeal gets denied which it will you lost your account forever. They will even block you from posting on their forums and there is no customer support email to write to.
Thanks for ruining my love for this game Jagex, I spend a year of my life playing this game and you take it away without even allowing me to explain one single thing. What monster is behind this?
Disgusting service
Only reason to play this game is… If you already have a good account you have worked on and appreciate, restarting is out of the question because the gameplay is slow and monotonous
Only reason to play this game is nostalgia, the game itself is slow and boring and my account was hacked more times than on any other gaming service or website, their security is bad and their ban team is incompetent, their ban repeal system is broken and is all they have to say is "we have proof" and that is that, doesn't matter if you have invested thousands in to an account, the twitter team is unresponsive.
One would be better switching to WoW or even Albion Online, which at least looks better and lets you go through minor shortcuts without forcing you to pay for it
And whats worse people have to come to separate websites to review this game because they won't let anyone review it directly, they know it's an outdated system and game and are too lazy to fix it and actually earn the profit they are forcing out of people
Just despicable!
I have been playing this game since 2005 as a member which means they have received plenty of monthly payments from me since then. I tried to log on after a while of not playing just to see that my account is locked and there is no other way then their garbage appeal process to unlock it. Now I have to wait for someone to care enough to respond!!!! 10 out of 10 for the worst customer service of any company/business I have ever seen in my life.. I would love to play again but I might just throw away 15 years of reoccurring payments because they obviously don’t care about repeat business. Hope you all don’t have the same trash experience.
JAGEX = DISCRIMINATION AND EXPLOITATION NOT EQUAL RIGHTS!
So they’ve done it! They have made a joke of a holiday sacred to many and used EASTER introduced same sex marriage (black market characters) in a game that SAYS is “not a dating site.”
There is absolutely NO REASON to have same sex marriage in this game, NONE! Let alone to introduce it as part of the EASTER EVENT!
RuneScape is advertised as a midevil game full of fantasy, it’s advertised as a Kid friendly/family game, it’s advertised as a NON DATING game all LIES!
1. why did they choose to Mock a Christian holiday with same sex marriage? They could have done it at anytime but why Easter?
2. Why in a game that according to JAGEX is MALE DOMINATED did they choose a lesbian couple?? They surely don’t care about females in any other aspect of the game. Why because girl on girl is a typical male fantasy that will appeal to straight males? This only backs the objectification of females!
3. Why do they keep ignoring their female players until they want to use them to sell something?!? Do they care about sexual harassment? No. Do they care about objectifying them? No. The true big game companies are actually in this millennia and realize couples actually game together, archaic, misogynistic, sexist Jagex assumes it’s only males and no male would mind his girlfriend or wife or daughter being viewed as a piece of meat to harass, proposition and make Sexual comments to.
4.Why does Jagex mock, objectify, stereotype and ignore everyone but males and homosexuals? A quick trip through Solomon’s store will help put that in perspective.
This is the overall problem in this game they will walk on everyone else’s rights, beliefs, and feelings for the next quick buck.
Well congratulations Jagex, you’ve offended so many more people than you have ever cared about, you’ll notice it when the premier memberships run out and the quarantine is over but I know for a fact the clan I am in of over 500 people at least 70% are done and as a group we are actively looking for a new game to move to. So many races and religions within our group have had enough of your mocking and stereotyping for a dollar we are now spending our quarantine talking to groups to help put a stop to your discrimination and objectification of women, Christians, Blacks, Hispanics, just to name a few as well as continuing to send screenshots and reports to the proper authorities for your sex trade industry in W3 (and continued sexual and political harassment in w84) that you put out outfits to make characters look nude, like little girls and prostitutes, and so obviously cater to the sex trade and refuse to clean up yourselves! Oh let us not forget the staking!
Yes Jagex some of us are doing community service while in quarantine and since you won’t clean it up, we will!
If one groups rights are to be considered ALL RIGHTS ARE TO BE CONSIDERED!
Was way way better before 2008
There are 2 versions of the game.
There are 2 versions of the game.
The more popular version is "Old School Runescape" which has the playstyle and graphics of a 2007 version of Runescape. I recommend to try out both and see which one you will like. Pay attention to the tutorial, that will help you understand how the game works.
bans you for no reason

Too many scammers. Revolves around scamming and luring people for profit. TOXIC GAME
Not what it used to be
I started playing rs in 2005. I was a victim of the Fally massacre (which was a game glitch that allowed players to pvp in safe zones, costing armor worth millions. No rollback was done, they just commemorated it and said "oh well"), I've been through the bot-pocalypse where there were so many bots in rs you couldn't even skill because of the sheer quantity of bot accounts. Jagex saw these accounts as paying accounts so why would they remove them though we complained and complained. Jagex did nothing, and slowly but surely, old players like me finally quit the game. Fast forward a few years to being spammed with Jagex emails "come back! We cleaned up the bots! Its a whole new game! We are now listening!"
So this year I decided to give in, to try it. At least now there wouldn't be bots and Jagex would listen right? No. First day logged into the game, attacked by cyberbullies for asking what an icon meant. Then over Christmas, when most people are spending time with families, there were 3 concurrent events going at once that you had to log on every day for. One of these "events" had tasks so huge it ate up a whole day! Who has time for that?! Oh and sure you could skip it, with microtransactions, if you could afford to. And the microtransactions. Let's talk about those. For every event they run, they make it so difficult either you no life it and do it 24/7 to hope to meet the deadline, or you pay to skip. Creative little thing most wont notice, I did. They did a "mental health" event, that was so tedious you had to do it for hours (god forbid you had to work or you know, take care of your family as most adults do) or pay to skip it. Really great for your mental health huh? Panic and get it done, dont do it and miss out, or pay to skip it on top of what you pay to play the game. I still remember what rs can do to a kid who's lost everything (yeah, Jagex, us old players haven't forgotten Maartin).
So on top of microtransactions now being shoved down your throat, there's not a mod in sight! It used to be you'd see the crowns running around all over the place. Not anymore. There is actually a world where cyber (newer generations know it as "sexting") is prominent! That's the whole purpose of that world! I was appalled. Then, they used to have a chat filter which would filter curse words. Those who played back in the day knew creative ways around the filter, cause lets face it, we were all teens. However, now, there is zero filter in place and yet this is a "kid friendly" game. Not anymore.
And this newest event of Jagex's is just the capper on the cake for me. Apparently their "treasure key" game, yes another microtransaction game, was glitched over New Years. Now mind you, 2 weeks prior, they ran a game called "clairvoyance" which featured glitching pixellated chests that you could see into. On New Years, they had a glitch which caused players to be able to exit out of the Treasure Hunter screen and get new rockets. Not exactly helpful if you accidentally clicked off the rockets because you didn't click the right hit box area. They are saying this caused a huge influx of money into the game. When 99% of the time you get xp assisting things from this treasure game, I find that hard to believe. You could buy 100 keys and only get these "stars" or "lamps" which apply to xp, but for whatever reason this glitch over New Years is a bad thing. Its a bad thing because it somehow hurts Jajex's bottom line. That's the only issue here. Their pockets. So what did they do? They banned people for their glitchy game and first it was a short ban, then to the same accounts it was a longer ban. All because it hurt their pockets.
So I do not recommend this game. They are as money hungry as a lot of online games who have turned to microtransactions to fill their coffers, and listen about as well... they don't and blame the player for their errors. Has no one been paying attention to Bethesda Studios and their Fallout 76 flop and multiple lawsuits? Jagex is headed down that path, they just refuse to see it. Just because they're in the UK doesn't make them untouchable.
I also find it interesting, that The BF. posted such an accurate review and was met with the same hostility you'd find in game. Its not a lie. Its actually very accurate. Play at your own risk and please, try it before letting children play. This isn't the environment I want my children in, and therefore will not be allowing them to play.
Jagex in it for the money
Game is okay but jagex is in it for the money.
You are just a number to them so don't expect ANY support when somethings wrong.
Also they just took untradeables from my account and gave me 10m in tradeables in return. I spend hours and tens of millions to get these untradeables.
