Had an appointment last Friday @ Regenexx St. Petersburg to assess my areas needing treatment which include 4 cervical disc injections, treatment of both shoulders, and right knee. Dr Papas did an ultra sound inspection of knee and shoulders, and reviewed my most recent cervical MRI. I felt impressed by his abilities to pinpoint the areas causing me my pain during the exam! However thats where my good impression ended! As he discussed the cervical options i mentioned i'd been to the Neil Riordan clinic in Tx. and they recommended injections into the discs with mesencymal stem cells. Dr Papas at that point sais Regenexx doesnt do cervical injections into the discs, which I know is wrong since I'd seen several webinars by Regenexx on doing this procedure! on the following Monday I recieved a call from the secretary at St Pete Regenexx who started giving me a verbal quote for treatment over the phone, when I said please, I would like this quote in written form, emailed to me so I can review the details of the procedures cost to compare to other quotes I already have recieved. It's now 5 days later and I've recieved nothing. Not impressed with their follow thru!

I went into regenexx to treat a very minor shoulder injury, back lower shoulder. Pain wasn’t too bad but I wanted to be back to new again. The doctor went crazy and injected my entire shoulder, all over, not just the area injured. I’m over a month out and he injured areas that never hurt before. I can’t take care of my kids, he’s ruined me. I’m in pain. I wish I never went. He said risk was zero, and now I am WAY worse than before. Doing the follow up, the ultrasound showed excess inflammation ALL OVER my shoulder. He couldn’t answer my questions or explain anything. Offered not hope. He did offer a cortisone shot now and I wouldn’t let him get near my shoulder again. I’m devastated! THIS IS NOT RISK FREE! I am not at all happy with Regenexx. Wish I would’ve gone somewhere else or never done this! And what’s worse is he won’t answer my calls, the front desk is rude, I’m rushed, worst experience ever! They don’t care about you!

I am 50 year old man with chronic back pain. I decided to try the PRP injections, and took 2 time procedure of Regenexx DDD, which costs me total of $8K. Unfortunately, this didn't work out well, and I wasted my time. This procedure was performed in San Diego office by Dr. Derrington, who's kind, but lack of clinical experience because I realized his diagnosis and procedure turned out incorrect, and his treatment wasn't enough to address my issue.

Short Answer:

DO NOT have this procedure done. It doesn't work. It has not been studied through traditional peer review. It is a waste of time and money.

Long Answer:

A small tear of my meniscus maybe 1/4 to 1/2". I asked my normal sports medicine doctor if Platelet Rich Plasma would work. Based on his experience PRP would not work on the knee as the joint was just too big.

I was determined to try to recover and did it anyway, also went with the more expensive Regenexx procedure over just PRP.

The procedure was easy and painless, it is a 3 step process.

Day 1: Harvest and inject PRP Platelet Rich Plasma
Day 2: Harvest Stem Cells from your pelvis, and inject them along with the Regenexx solution into your knee. Go home stay off your feet for the next 24 hours as much as possible.
Day 3: Harvest and inject PRP as a booster for Day 2 injection.

Day 4+ Take it easy and eat nutrients that will help repair cartilage. They will try to sell you a vitamin nutrient blend. With just a little google research you can make it yourself for a lot less money.

9 months later: I had another PRP injection, from the same doctor.

11 months MRI: The MRI showed no change from the prior condition.

I'm 2 years out and cannot recommend this procedure at all. In my opinion, it is Snake Oil. Do not spend your money on it. It has not been researched and proven to work as normal drugs/procedures are. Why? if a doctor is injecting something from your personal body back into your personal body, the FDA doesn't regulate it. Thus it is a loophole that Regenexx company and the doctors are using to make money on a procedure that is not a peer-reviewed / double-blind test. You can find more about that via a quick internet search.

I wish it was otherwise. I wish I could recommend this service. Based on my before/after MRI images, the procedure did nothing.

This didn’t work at all. It may have made my ankle worse! It was more painful, than they advertise. Also, the doctor was cheap to give me a note for time off of work, or pain medicine.

I don’t recommend this procedure, nor the Indian doctor in West LA. He’s all about the $$$$

I had been seeing an orthopaedist for years about both knees and had already had two surgeries on my right knee. I had been through the cortisone and hyaluronic acid injections which gave me some relief. The doctor had been telling me for a few years that I would reach a point where I would decide it was time to replace the knees. I reached the point where it was affecting my knees, hips and back and was planning to call and schedule replacement surgery when I decided to investigate stem cell injections. That is when I found RAPS and Dr. Sally.
He treated my left knee first and I followed up with physical therapy. The results were great and I have not had pain in my left knee for 15 months. He treated my right knee 5 months ago and I followed up with physical therapy again. In both cases, the downtime was a few days and the results have been great. I am playing golf, doing heavy yard work and other exercise without pain. I encourage anyone that is experiencing chronic joint pain to talk to Dr. Sally or other Regenexx trained specialists if you are not in the Pittsburgh area.

The doctors where great. The billing department was another matter. After the procedure I tried to get billable codes (i.e.: doctor visit, PT, blood draw. labs, etc) to submit to my insurance company. At first the billing department was not helpful. They had already been paid in full $6000.00). After eight months fighting the billing department and my insurance company, my insurance company agreed to pay $1800.00 of the bill. The billing department was now friendly as I said I would have that payment sent to them (big mistake) as a partial credit for my follow-up visit (costing $1200.00). The billing department said they would call when the payment from my insurance company came. I had to call several times before I got a nervous billing clerk who said the money came and I would have to speak to the billing manager. The billing manager came on the phone and in an extremely chilling cold voice said: "you do not think that money is yours". I called the Attorney General of my state and was told this is not uncommon, they called it double dipping to pad the bottom line. They encouraged me to file with the Colorado State General Attorney. On top of them taking the insurance money, remember they had been paid in full eight months ago, they said I now had insurance co-pays due. I decided to wash my hands of the entire place and learned that you never allow an insurance settlement check be sent to a place with their name on it. In short, the billing manager is a crook and saw a check that she could keep since the clinic's name was on it.

I was diagnosed in Canada with severe arthritis and a full knee replacement was the only fix in the fall of 2018. No other solution would work. While waiting for my upcoming operation in 4 months, I went to a Regenexx clinic in South Florida. The Dr required a new MRI as I didn’t bring my MRI with me. Within 2 weeks I had the MRI completed and was back in for diagnosis and to have fluid drained from my knee. I went in on other two separate days for PRP injections to my knee made from my blood. This cultivates the area for stem cells to work. On the day of the procedure, my stem cells were removed from my hip bone, purified and injected into my knee along with PRP. Two days later I went for another PRP injection. All my visits were over a 2 week period once I had the MRI. Within 20 days of the stem cell injections, I no longer required a cane. Within two months I had no more pain and I have been pain free for the last 13 months. When this procedure is done right, it really works well. It has turned my life around.

I had a meniscus tear and bulge in my left knee that I lived with for a little over a year. I had constant burning pain and swelling, causing me to eat 2-3 800mg ibuprofen every day. I was one week away from surgery when I discovered Regenexx. I immediately postponed the surgery to look deeper into this procedure. It was the reviews on this site and YouTube that helped me make my decision. I had the stem cell / PRP treatment March 2018 by Dr. Venkatesh Movva at RegenOrthoSport in Dallas, Tx. and four months later went back for another round of PRP. At six months post procedure I started noticing that the burning pain and swelling was getting better. At one year in, I was pain free and no longer had any swelling. There were a few “set backs”, even after one year, where I twisted a certain way and would experience a little uncomfortableness. But Dr. Movva told me this might happen. However, these “set backs” typically only lasted 24-48hrs and were never anywhere near like it was prior to the procedure.
I’m now one month away from two years since my procedure and so happy I did this! No invasive surgery leaving me with less meniscus than what a healthy knee needs and no real loss of time at work. I’ve hiked numerous miles of treacherous rugged terrain in the desert and mountains just one year after the procedure and would’ve never been able to do that before. And I’m looking forward to this springs vacation doing the same! I’m 52 years old and this has given me a better life!
Would I recommend Regenexx? Absolutely! Would I do it again? Most definitely!!

This review is for my experience with Dr. Addam Quraishi in Houston, TX. I was scheduled for a 2nd Mencius removal procedure in 2 years but was advised to look into this stem cell procedure. I was unhappy with the popping and clicking I was experiencing in the knee repaired surgically. I had 3 different Orthopedic surgeons tell me I was wasting my time, that it wouldn’t work. Be forewarned that this procedure isn’t for the faint of heart. I had to do 3 PRP (A2M) procedures just to cool the knee down before stem cell. The stem cell extraction was very painful and The procedure to re-inject them into the knee painful as well. Then it took 6 months before my knee to even started feeling better. I thought I had made a big mistake. But from months 8-12 my knee began feeling better than it had in years. It’s been 2 1/2 years since the procedure and I’m snow skiing, hiking, jogging,...pretty much whatever I want. I’d say my knee is 85-90% of what it was before the injury whereas I’d rate the other knee surgically repaired at 65-70% (the Ortho guys call it a repair but it just means removal). I feel great about my result. I’m sure it’s pushed needing a knee replacement off by many many years. The Dr and his staff are extremely attentive to you. 5-stars!

The procedures do not work. Don't waste your money.

Never had this done but if the fda doesn’t approve the treatment it’s because it isn’t effective. So people shell out money for an unapproved treatment then write a bad review and say they are ripped off? Well thanks for your reviews folks it has helped me see the obvious.

At the beginning of October 2019 I had a stem cell procedure on my left hip in lieu of more invasive surgery. Dr. Fausel and his staff in Broomfield couldn't have more professional and perfect to work with. I have absolutely no complaints there. I was told that there was a 50% to 60% chance of success. Unfortunately, it did not work at all. In fact, my hip is worse now than when I went in. I followed all their post-op instructions to no avail and it was extremely painful for three weeks afterwards. Now, 3 1/2 months later I'm looking at surgery. The only regret I have is that it cost me $8,000 out of pocket. Again. the clinic and everyone in it were wonderful and I'm guessing that other people have had success. It just wasn't right for my situation.

I had stem cell treatment at a Regeneex facility in Phx in March 2019 on my shoulder and the platelets on my neck. Followed all instructions precisely. I did not get any pain relief to speak of. When I tried to schedule a 6 month checkup, I was told their office was closed and was given no way to follow up. Needless to say I am not a satisfied patient and would not recommend Regeneex to anyone. It was very expensive. There was no follow up or it seemed anyone that really cared. Judie Tilmsn

Dr. Derrington at Health Link in Vista, CA did a fabulous job on my back. It's not perfect -- yet -- I will go back to try to finish the work that needs to be done. I have severe scoliosis and it's amazing he was able to fix as much as he did.

The care the staff and Dr. Schultz give is outstanding. They are very conerned about making you feel comfortable, safe and aware of procedures and concerns.

I received 6 PRP treatments. 4 hips, 1 neck, 1 lumbar. The procedures went well and I got some relief from them albeit very short lived. I would recommend them for an issue that you are sure of having. Be sure of the issue before you go because they will not diagnose you. They will give you the treatments if you want them without them diagnosing you.
My opinion of the physician ( Dr. Musman) changed drastically many months later. After the 6 procedures, he ordered a new MRI of both hips, my back and my neck.
I was having tremendous pain in my back, hips, legs, neck and arms despite finishing the PRP procedures. I sent the MRI to the doctor and the response was that I had a tendinosis tear in my hip. Thats all that was said, even after I expressed how painful the whole area was. Many months after he told me that, two new doctors looked at the same MRI and they diagnosed that I actually had two very badly rumptured discs in my back and bony growths and a bulging disc that brought back my neck pain. My pain had been very high since the Regennex doctor ordered the MRI and "looked" at it after all the PRP procedures. The PRP had no effect on my pain. In fact it got so much worse.
It was outrageous to me that this doctor did not even mention the possibility of any problems with my discs and that it could possibly have been the cause of years of pain that was only getting worse. The doctors who viewed the MRI much later ( as my pain became unbearable) said that the disc herniations were very obvious. The whole time I should have been treating my discs in my back. I was never thoroughly examined by Regennexx nor did they ask about or order an initial MRI of my back. I feel as if I would have know long long ago and perhaps saved myself A LOT of money if they had.
I believe I had the ruptured discs for a very long time. The possibilty was not ever mentioned.
I feel as if the Regennex doctors did not do a thorough job with any diagnoses that I needed desperately. It would have been very good to know what was really wrong with me before I continued to have 6 PRP procedures at the grand total of $14,000, plus hotel stays took the grand total to almost $18,000.
If an additional MRI of my back and neck was ordered initally, I most likely would have known what was wrong. The doctor recommeded a PRP procedure on my back and neck without an MRI or x ray to view. Isnt it the doctors job to get a more solid diagnosis before recommending expensive procedures?
I really wish I had known about my ruptured discs.
The Regennex headquarters will be receiving this review because I believe I ended up a misdiagnosed victim who put trust in the doctors and procedures and ended up much poorer and with nothing to show for it.
I dont believe the PRP procedures hurt me, but I believe they basically made money off me. I got absolutely nothing out of it and now I have the terrible problem of significantly ruptured discs, am out of work without pay and I dont know if I can improve my health.
Shame on them. Very negligent. Stay far far away.
I recently learned that Dr. Musman was closing his practice and moving to the south.
Convenient. I hope people get properly diagnosed BEFORE going to Regenexx. They will just give you the procedures and take your money. I was desperate for help and I feel very taken advantaged of. Now I need treatment and possibly surgery and am $18,000 poorer.

A BIG scam.

I had their stem cell treatment in the cayman islands 2 years ago for a lower back injury. It was around July or August 2017. Well, by February 2018 I was back at the exact same level of pain as before, but $40,000 poorer.

I also had their PRP treatments for a back injury and shoulder pain in Colorado and in the caymans a few months before and the results were “meh” at best. Save your money. Regenexx is not in the business of helping people. They are in the business of helping themselves to your bank account.

I had my Stem Cell procedure done on May 2019 in Atlanta. The consultation was great. The orthopedic did a in-depth examination of my knee along with reviewing my MRI images. The process of a stem cell injection includes a pre-injection(2 days before) of prolotherapy and post-injection(2 days after) of PRP. It has been almost 5 months since my stem cell injection and my knee doesn’t feel any better. It’s a expensive procedure. I got my lateral meniscus partially removed and I was hoping stem cells would give me relief. I believe stem cells work for some but not all. It didn’t work for me unfortunately just like my surgery didn’t either. On a side note, I have noticed lots of fake reviews. Makes me question Regenexx true intentions which is $$$.
