Newson Clinic was founded in 2018 by Dr Louise Newson and Dr Rebecca Lewis to improve access to evidence-led, individualised hormone healthcare for women. The clinic supports women across the UK through face-to-face and virtual appointments. Newson Clinic provides specialist guidance for women experiencing symptoms associated with perimenopause, menopause and other hormone-related conditions, including PMS, PMDD, postnatal depression, PCOS/PMOS and endometriosis. The clinic has extensive experience supporting women whose symptoms affect mood, memory, sleep and energy to joint health, libido, relationships, work and overall wellbeing. Newson Clinic’s clinicians take time to understand each woman’s symptoms, medical history, priorities and previous treatment. Treatment plans are tailored to the individual and may include bioidentical (body identical) hormone treatment, lifestyle advice, blood tests and further investigations where clinically appropriate. They also support women with complex medical histories, women seeking a second opinion and those already using hormone treatment who may wish to optimise their plan. Treatment is continuously reviewed according to individual response, rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. Newson Clinic actively funds and contributes to research studies in women’s hormone health, using patient-reported data from its clinics and collaborating with external researchers and academic institutions to investigate symptoms, treatment response and longer-term health outcomes. Appointments are available online and at our clinics in Stratford-upon-Avon, London and Hale, Cheshire. For appointments or patient support, call 01789 595004, email info@newsonhealth.co.uk or visit www.newsonhealth.co.uk.

For the cost of an appointment, doctors should be better informed on a wider range of health conditions that affect menopause. Just repeating the pre-appointment questionnaire isn't enough, especially if you've been prescribed a very high hrt dosage. It doesn't merit the large price increase.

I have been having online consultations for about 18months now. Each doctor has been so wonderful. My NHS GP has been great, but they cannot prescribe testosterone yet, so that's why I went for Newson after researching and deliberating. Honestly, I feel like me 20 years ago. I have energy and no longer feel I am just surviving. I stayed up to 1130pm last night on a work night to help my daughter with some GCSE revision. I could never have done that before testosterone! The clinic has been great and the balance app keeps me so well informed. Thank you - I am incredibly grateful.

My whole experience booking an HRT follow-up appt was very positive. The admin staff were very friendly and supportive and responded quickly. I got an appt soon after. Dr Crockett was friendly, thorough and very well informed with up to date knowledge. I feel well supported and would highly recommend Newson Health for anyone needing menopause or HRT support.

I’m incredibly grateful to Louise for such a personal consultation, delivered with outstanding expertise and genuine empathy. I felt truly listened to throughout. The HRT regime she prescribed has addressed all of my menopausal symptoms — I now feel able to enjoy life again with renewed energy and resilience, free from mood swings and hot flushes. Highly recommended.

What a breath of fresh air Dr Melissa is!
I have a BRCA2+ gene mutation, have had top and bottom surgeries and have had an awful time with surgical menopause.
I had a full raft of bloods done late summer which showed very low levels of Oestrogen, despite HRT gel (2 pumps) and almost zero testosterone.
She listened to me, and gave me advice on other things I could use to combat dryness.
I have been prescribed TRT therapy now and the relief I feel is incredible.
As brilliant as the Newson organisation is, women in general are so let down by ignorant GPs, non-existent NHS menopause services with women being offered anti-depressants and expected to get on with it. It’s outrageous.
I am very lucky to be able to afford my appointments, blood tests and prescriptions. But this should all be available to EVERY woman for free.
Thank you very much Dr Melissa, a great listener and someone who really seemed to care.

Visited doctor at London office three times in a nine month period at >£250 per visit. All three times, she was aloof and seemed distracted; more focused on the billing, telling me about fees including £37 just to write a prescription (not for the prescription itself), on top of the fees for the visit and for blood tests. Switched doctors finally and asked the practice the next day why they hadn't sent my prescription. They said I needed to pay a £70 annual prescription fee to have it on repeat; otherwise £37 each time. This practice is just one money grab after another; more focused on billing than actual patient care. Will be switching practices.

I have left a review previously and am doing a follow up now. I have been a patient at Newson Health for two years and have paid them over £1000 of my hard earned cash.
I have a fibroid and bleeding on HRT, I had been investigated for uterine cancer several times due to this and I was at the end of my tether and felt suicidal. I couldn’t see a specialist on the NHS and my GP has very little knowledge of menopause or HRT so, due to their high profile in the industry, I consulted Newson Health.
The first doctor I saw was friendly, knowledgeable and supportive. She advised me to increase my progesterone to stop the bleeding. This didn’t work. She then left the company and I was issued a second doctor who didn’t inspire confidence at all; kept looking at her watch during our consultation as if she’d rather be somewhere else, then betrayed my confidence in the letter she wrote to my GP. Her advice was to increase both estrogen (via Estrogel) and progesterone. This caused horrendous flooding-type bleeding. She said I could go up to 7 pumps of Estrogel a day. She also suggested I introduce testosterone but couldn’t explain how that would help me. However, she was easily able to quote the cost. I felt like I was no further forward.
I then left a review of my experience with the company and, because of this negative feedback, one of the directors kindly gave me a free consultation. She also advised me to increase my Estrogel (to 4 pumps initially but posited that i could go up to 7 pumps daily - the highest licensed dose for Estrogel is 4 pumps a day), change to cyclogest pessaries for my progesterone and introduce testosterone to the mix, as this was a ‘feel good’ hormone. Again, this led to flooding and clotting to the extent that I couldn’t leave the house. I also experienced high levels of irritability and anxiety, I struggled to sleep at night, I was constantly exhausted, my body felt heavy and sluggish, I developed acne and mouth ulcers and generally felt very unwell.
I now know that, if you have fibroids, high estrogen is the last thing you want as estrogen feeds the fibroids and makes them grow and bleed. I am now working with a gynaecologist who is also a menopause specialist and she has put me on the lowest dose of estrogen I can get away with to help relieve my menopause symptoms, along with the lowest dose of progesterone and all seems to be going ok. I feel more knowledgeable about my health and like I’m moving forward, not backwards. If I’d stayed with Newson Health, I would have been on 7 pumps of Estrogel a day and very unwell and housebound.
I understand that, for women without additional pathology, Newson Health can be helpful. However, over prescribing hormones is concerning. Their advice just appears to be putting women on higher and higher levels of estrogen.
I’m leaving this review because, as women, we are being given a raw deal. The NHS won’t help us and we are reliant on private ‘specialists’ to help us and stop us from feeling suicidal and unwell. The money that I paid to Newson Health got me nowhere. Please do your research and find the best specialist for your individual needs.

I visited the clinic to have a consultation with Dr Sumi Rampling in May, I live about an hour away but felt I would be more comfortable talking about my situation in person. From first stepping in there you felt reassured and I found Dr Sumi to be very patient and knowledgeable, taking the time to listen to me and then explaining she thought my symptoms were both perimenopausal & also partly PMDD. It was a relief to be heard and diagnosed, and to have treatment so quickly too.
Today I have had my follow up, a video call to save me travelling up to Stratford again and again I feel reassured. My dosage is changing according to what I have told her and also my blood test results.
Newson Health are a private practice and therefore are more expensive but if you can reprioritise your finances and make use of the 3 interest free payments using Klarna I would highly recommend you do so.

I've had two appointments and three prescriptions now through the service, along with a blood test. Everything has been quick and easy. Dr Amy Tompkins has been advising me and has been excellent, so patient and empathetic, asking lots of questions so as to build up a good profile of my situation and needs and also explaining options thoroughly and clearly - really helping to give me back some level of control. 7 months in and I feel much more like myself again. Ongoing follow up treatment and advice is easy, along with the balance app and other forms of education, Amy is helping to build my own knowledge as well as give me advice and guidance on how to transfer treatment back into the NHS if I want to. So very grateful.

I was prescribed estrogen when I didn’t need it at all. I had a zoom consultation and described my symptoms and was prescribed hrt. After a few months of taking it I put on a lot of weight so stopped. My GP then found a HUGE fibroid in my uterus caused by an overload of estrogen. I had to have a full hysterectomy. I spent over £1k to then have my uterus removed. If any one has advise about legal action I’d appreciate it.

Contacted the service regarding a payment plan for a follow up appointment and blood tests. I was informed that this was only offered to new patients. This is very disappointing and sadly shows a lack of concern about equity and access to the service, and more of a commitment to making money. Very disappointing and upsetting.

Antwort von newsonhealth.co.uk
Offering money off for new patients but not existing ones! Absolutely bizarre and morally wrong. Website difficult to navigate, patient info forms onerous, info regarding blood tests inaccurate, doctor hadn’t prepared for appointment and too much un-necessary email bumpf. Vastly overpriced.

I have now had four doctors consultations. My original doctor left the company and no one told me. I have counted the amount of money I have paid and it’s been over £1,200. Now I feel just as tired as I did before I went on HRT. In my last consultation which cost £230 I had blood tests done, by the time that was completed, I had spent over £500. Eventually I had the results from my blood tests which took over a couple of weeks to get back and I had indeed experienced another hormone imbalance. But the advice I was given was just one line and it didn’t explain anything about SHBG which was what was happening. So the way I felt was I had just spent over £500 and all I received was one little bit of advice, nothing more. I know they have a business and an expansion to fund, but I am paying for my care primarily and it’s been hugely disappointing. Over a year on I feel back to square one.

Had a zoon consultation with Dr Karen O'Riley, this morning, and I ahve alresdy received the notes from the consultation - I feel so much better, now understanding about HRT and the importance, that my doctors lack. Thank you so much I am starting my medication tonight and am very excited to start feeling normal again. Dr O'Riley is lovely and answered all my questions and concerns. Thankyou so much. G O'C

I had my original consultation in person, the doctor was excellent.
My follow up got cancelled because they were conducting ‘routine health and safety assessments across their clinics’.
They tried to change it to a video appt which I didn’t want so it was moved.
They’ve now cancelled that as the ‘routine’ is ‘taking longer than expected’ and told me it’s now a video appt.
I do not want a video appointment.
I specifically booked because this clinic provided in person appointments. I simply don’t buy this nonsensical excuse for trying to run the service virtually. If it’s routine, why isn’t it scheduled around appointments they’ve already made? Why can’t they rent an office? If the routine doesn’t factor in providing the service to patients- what’s it for?
I feel like I’m being taken for a ride but as I’ve already laid out the money for the blood tests for my follow up appointment they have me over a barrel.
I’ll see if I can get a guarantee that future appointments can be in person and if not will go elsewhere. Incredibly disappointed because I have every confidence in the doctor but I get the sense the corporate profits are the focus
EDIT following response from Newson Health
I replied to the email cancelling my appointment only to get a reply saying it was a ‘no reply’ email
I emailed the address provided here by Newson only to receive the below response.
If there is no office space and no email contact, is this business even functioning?

I’ve been with clinic since 2022 and not sure why to be honest. I originally started with them because NHS couldn’t get hold of the patches. However I was told I would get a call in June 2024 following my previous consultation . I’ve recently stopped my hormone treatment 3 weeks ago as I was having intermittent bleeding and still regular monthly periods. Which has resulted in getting urgent scan and under 2week rule for gyne ! I have thickening of uterus . I wouldn’t advise anyone to have consultations via face time or telephone . I’m not a one to bother anyone however if I need advice it costs money for another consultation ! You should really have face to face appointment. This lady supposed to want to help and it’s all money
