My personal opinion is do not use them for a
Property TOLATA case. The matter went on for
approx 2 years batting correspondence
backwards and forwards with little progress made
but costs running into tens of thousands of
pounds. I deinstructed them and represented
myself in the end.
They quoted an amount for a piece of work and
charged me £2000 more than the quote. When i
challenged this i wAs informed it was for
additional work but they never substantiated what
additional work was completed. Their complaints
procedure did not address all of the issues. They
took an aggressive approach applied interest to
the bill and with held my documentation. Little
more than regulated robbery!
I am currently pursuing matters with the Legal
ombudsman. Be cautious!!!!

Was charged additional fees that were not advised over the phone.

They got the job done BUT I felt like I had to constantly chase them to find out where things were up to with the conveyancing of my parents house move. That included having to chase them on the day of the move about understanding when we could have the keys to the new property. Not good when you are moving elderly parents 2 hours away from where they used to live. It was the vendors solicitor that was holding things up but I shouldn’t have had to ring them myself to get them to release the keys. I had enough on my plate that day as it was.

Melanie bridgen family law solicitor Nelsons derby is only after how much money she can make max she will charge for a hour work even if she spent just 5 mins she will take 3 days getting back to a person but charge £370 a hour she will hide in the meeting room upstairs. Every time you go to the office she will tell her staff to lie and say to the client she can't come down because she's in meeting don't use her she will just charge you lots of money and give you a very poor service. You have to chase her up everytime to get what she's supposed to get done and then pay her £370 for every hour for doing nothing or doing 10 mins work max

Terrible firm. Lie and do what they want then bill you. They take things personal and worry about their rep not you. Stay away.

Haidee dealt with the conveyancing for the sale of our house with outstanding efficiency. She was helpful and supportive throughout the process and answered all queries promptly and in a very friendly manner. We were very impressed with the service.

Been trying to get the will of my late father for over 4 weeks now. Spoke to a lady who didn't really offer any help but promised to get back to me (4 weeks and still waiting) Never get a reply to messages left and no one ever answers the phone!!

These use to be respected in Derby but will never use again.

Utterly Shamefull.
Needed help of the Court of protection department, the lady i was talking with came accross as thick and uncaring. Not good. There for will not be instructing. For gods sake Nelsons brains are needed.

Just had the most horrendous phone call with this firm it was a waste of time I had gone on an article in regards to refusing treatment for your child that being medical treatment and I had enquired what it would look like if you was taken to court in regards to that and rather than them actually listening to the situation whereby my daughter has a brain tumour Lady I just spoke to started reeling off their prices on their hourly rate rather than just telling me if that was the information I could actually get or not she didn’t even address if it’s something that they can tell me what he’s going to tell me anything just started telling me their per hour rate and their prices on plus VAT which I just feel is really disgusting almost in human but I guess that’s what you get when you’re dealing with a lawfirm it’s all about money disgusting & unhelpful

I have had Nelsons law solicitors (children) supporting me 2 years, and I carnt thank Melanie Bridgen, Kate Warner and Katy Swinbourne enough for helping me get custody of my children, it has been a long heartbreaking tough court cases, Melanie Bridgen is a top class women and I highly respect her for what she has done for my and my children, this women is highly recommend and very professional, Melanie has reassured me though out the whole proceedings, so people if you ever need a solicitor for children I wouldn’t go anywhere else, thankyou very much Melanie and the Nelsons law firm, you help me get through a different process and helped me get my children into my care and have full custody 🙌

They are Derby branch to be precise. Found them through MoneySuperMarket and went with them since they had good rating on Law Society and was around mid-high in price. Was okay in the beginning, no prompt update in email/web page as advertised, and usually need to ring them up although ended up with paralegal instead. They brought up something all of a sudden which held up mortgage money transfer and which was a moment I was told that transaction might not completed on planned day that everyone was lined up for. Thankfully, managed to complete the transaction thanks to the head conveyancer but not a pleasant experience to remember. Still don't understand why they flagged up something important in such a late phase of a process.
