I am hoping that this review will not…
I am hoping that this review will not affect my exam results for NEBOSH General Health and Safety Cert.. but in all honesty the fast track route is deadly, with only 9 days of on line tutor led training and a total time period for completion 0f 3 weeks and 4 days for both the open book 24 hour NG1 exam (which took me 14 hours to complete), and the NG2 site risk Assessment which took another 50 hours of study and writing up time) makes me realise that the total study time of 3 weeks and 4 days, is not achievable for most people, I am utterly broken and damaged by this course as it ran alongside my very challenging full time job role. NEBOSH you talk a lot about Health and Safety and protection of the worker in the work place, yet your fast track examination process, expectation and course time frame completely breaches all the health and wellbeing standards of your so called protective legislation. Yours insincerely and utterly broken candidate of Swindon - November 2024.
Get told you need a NEBOSH for jobs but…
Get told you need a NEBOSH for jobs but they fail a lot of people because you haven't worded it correctly - I failed as I put immediate on the risk assessment instead of a specific date - never mind I have many years of health and safety experience and got every risk and hazard highlighted put all the necessary information on etc - feel they are out to get money and fail you so you have to pay yet another extortionate fee when you have paid enough for the course. They need to be investigated. Has put me off taking my career further and re-sit
Formal Complaint to NEBOSCH
We are writing to express our profound disappointment and concern regarding the current standards of integrity, honesty, and competence exhibited by NEBOSCH as an institution.
Our primary issue lies with the apparent lack of expertise and understanding demonstrated by your marking tutors. We contend that the current marking process relies heavily on unqualified personnel who employ a robotic approach, focusing solely on "key words" rather than evaluating the substantive understanding of the subject matter. This methodology is fundamentally flawed and undermines the credibility of your qualifications.
We strongly advocate for a complete overhaul of the marking process, replacing the current marking tutors with experienced field operators who possess a deep understanding of the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the ability to accurately assess exam responses. These individuals should be capable of recognizing correct answers when they see them, without resorting to simplistic keyword searches.
Furthermore, the unacceptable delays in responding to queries and concerns demonstrate a flagrant disregard for customer service standards. Such a level of inefficiency is wholly incompatible with the expectations of a professional body operating in the 21st century. It is evident that NEBOSCH prioritizes internal processes over the needs of its clients, suggesting a fundamental lack of respect for those it serves. Moreover, we believe that the method used to allocate points in the marking process is inherently dishonest and does not accurately reflect candidates' knowledge and abilities.
The cumulative effect of these issues has led to a significant erosion of public trust in NEBOSCH as an institution. It is imperative that immediate and substantial changes are implemented to restore credibility and confidence in your organization.
We urge NEBOSCH to take this matter with utmost seriousness and to initiate a thorough review of its marking procedures and response times. We believe that such actions are essential to maintaining the integrity of the qualifications offered by NEBOSCH.
Money Making Scam
This institution is only a money making scam. Don't be fooled and think you will complete the course in just two years. They take 3 months to mark a paper and will fail you with 4% (Even after send the paper for a re-mark, and this also costs money). Simultaneously your learning partner will do nothing to assist you in any matter related to NEBOSH. This institution is more focused on failing people to suck more money out of their students (Course fees in total cost me 2 900 pounds in 2 years). With the amount of money spent and time wasted I would highly recommend using an Accredited University as they will provide you with ample feedback and mark you paper honestly. NEBOSH can change marks according to their fail or pass rate to ensure that they are the highest failed rate institution when it comes to health and safety (And they are even proud of being recognized of being the highest fail rate institution). Your journey with them will be hell.
Waiting for the whistleblower.
96% of our company failed. The most common mark in our company was 43 (45 needed to pass). What is the statistical probability of that?
The material is very useful knowledge, but grading transparency is obviously a big problem for Nebosh.
Waiting for the whistleblower.
Not a real qualification
Appallingy written notes are passed by NEBOSH as being sufficient. Exam papers are marked in an arbitary way without feedback being given. It's all about how well you can put precise English to one side and learn their stupid formulas then hope you get an examiner in a good mood. A money-making scam.
Scam
This institution is just a money scam, an they make it sound legal. Every risk assessment submission costa £130. And every time someone else finds something they don't like.
100% Scam
100% Scam, the business model is to generate ££££££. You do the exam, you need 45 marks to pass, I failed first time as my training provider Shields are useless. Totally reactive service, not proactive. No reasons for marking how they do, no accountability. Second time I got 37 and one question I got a 0, even though I used the HSE information as advised. Makes no sense other than to keep you coming back with £85 per exam. AND, if you dare to complaint you have to PAY MORE to get your papers re marked. WHERE IS THE OFFICE OF FAIR TRADING? Trading standards should be all over this scam. Wasted so much money with little chance of a pass until they feel they can no longer extract cash from me. Disgusting. You get no feedback as to how they marked your exam, and if you want to challenge, you guessed it £££££ to file a marking request. Unbelievable
NEBOSH General Certificate
Ian Campbell is a great teacher who helped and supported me with my learning on the course and was always happy to give me additional one to one time to further explain topics I found difficult.
High Fees, Long Waiting Times, and a Quest for Failure
After waiting for two months for the results, I was failed on my IG2 Risk Assessment based on an inadequately justified "error". This decision struck me as obscure and absurd, especially considering that every other component was executed successfully.
To hinge an entire assessment's success on such a narrow criterion seems not only excessively harsh but also deeply unfair. This type of hyper-critical evaluation does nothing but discourage thorough and thoughtful work.
What's more, NEBOSH's fee structure for appeals adds insult to injury; £154 for the first stage of an appeal and an astonishing £319 for the second stage of an appeal. These fees seem unreasonably high and reflect an organization more concerned with profit than with fair and supportive education practices.
It's disheartening to see an educational body promote such demoralizing and unrealistic standards. Is this the level of support and fairness one should expect from NEBOSH? For an institution tasked with fostering high standards in health and safety, their approach to assessment and appeals feels remarkably misaligned with these values.
Not happy
Yea, I am starting to think that this is a big money making scam. I have sat 2 papers now and I admit on the first one I wasn't sure what I was doing. However on the second, they only have me 42 marks, although I was certain I should've got higher. Not sure what to do now as it seems like they are just after my money, with no explanation of where you went wrong in the exam.
This institution is a mystery to itself…
This institution is a mystery to itself and unaccountable to anyone. Their army of trainers consist of private 'learning providers' who similarly seem unaccountable and don't drive the training in any particular way. Unlike a GCSE, A Level or Degree, there is no direct structure of tutor to pupil. You are left to your own devices even after two weeks in a classroom course at an eye watering £1.5k. You can submit a mock paper for marking and you will be lucky if you get 2/10 with no real explanation as to what you failed on. Somehow I feel this is a cyclic money maker. The pass rate is low (around 28% first time but some do have a several exam resits and many just give up) but of course you pay each time you resit. I am very dubious about the whole NEBOSH thing.
Sent me a threat that they would…
Sent me a threat that they would invalidate my exam because I hadn't attended a closing interview, I hadn't been notified of one. I let them know this and received no response, but I emailed my trainer and asked for one, which was the arranged around their schedule. Two days before the video interview NEBOSH sent me a further threatening email saying they were going to register me as involved in malpractice and invalidate my exam. Id paid for my training and the exam, revised hard, and they were simply sending out automated threats without actually looking into who was at fault (in this case a company they had received money from for accreditation) instead of chasing them up (presumably because they were paying them a lot of money) they decided to threaten me. As a disabled veteran it was extremely distressing to realise there were what are considered "well respected" organisations like NEBOSH, that are actually just corrupt money making companies that dont care about legitimate qualifications but instead their own profit margins.
Excellent awarding body
I have been a learning partner of NEBOSH for many years delivering a wide range of globally recognised health and safety qualifications.
NEBOSH qualifications are recognised worldwide as the highest standard in health and safety.
As an examination body their certification holds integrity throughout all industries globally, due to the diligent policing they ensure while embracing new technologies, therefore proves them as a progressive organisation, dedicated to the improvement of workplace safety internationally.
NEBOSH qualifications are not easily attained, a learner must commit to their studies and prove their understanding of the syllabus through different types of robust assessment. Therefore the thousands of students successfully achieving their NEBOSH qualifications know it holds integrity and is worth the effort.
Let me explain how they operate
Let me explain how they operate, they will give 24 hrs to write between a 30-40 page essay with over 50,000 characters. There is no conventional grading system only a pass or fail with no scores. You will most certainly fail 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 times until they can no longer milk you for your money or give up.
Do the NVQ instead!
I emailed them 3 times and they haven't replied or responded. No good if you have any form of learning difficulties as that what my email was about. I regret signing up with them now. I actually am now doing the NVQ instead and it's so much better for the same outcome.
Absolutely disgusted with how I’ve been…
Absolutely disgusted with how I’ve been treated from this organisation! I sat an exam on the 7th Dec OBE. Nebosh messed up with removing my access to submit due to there technical issues and incompetence. I submitted on time but now been told I missed the deadline. This is unacceptable and Nebosh need to make it right! I will be escalating a complaint re their code of practice ISO 9001 and raising a formal complaint under DDA 1995.
To those with disabilities I can honestly say they are very inconsiderate to individuals that are at a disadvantage, there is evidence to show this and a legal claim will be made against them.
