I've ordered from this site on many occasions and loved every piece I've recieved. The only time I wasn't happy was with a pair of boots I bought about five years ago started peeling, but I hadn't read the materials and decided they were a good idea to wear in a work environment (lol).
I've bought mostly dresses, and anything I wasn't satisfied with size wise I could return rather easily for an exchange (happened with a different pair of boots that didn't fit over my calves). Whenever I call customer care for assistance, they are prompt, helpful, and make suggestions regarding things to buy.
I will agree that the sizing can be confusing, but sizing always has been confusing in women's fashion, and when that's combined with multiple product manufacturers, you best double check reviews and customer service before buying unless you have time to return for a different size.
The only other issue I have is how high the prices are, but for the service you get, it doesn't surprise me. It's why I keep ordering when I want something nice for a special occasion.
Sizes unpredictable. Poor quality.
Easy to use website, but sizes are all over the chart. You have to rely on customer reviews and thr customer measurements to guess your size. I even contacted customer service with my measurements and they said I should order a size 10 dress. I normally wear an 8, but all the customer reviews say this item runs large... I took a leap of faith and ordered a size 6 and it was large for me!!
Plus their products are poor quality made with cheap material. Much is made in China. So disappointed but it's too much of a hassle to make International returns...

Excellent customer service! I ordered the dress that was way too big for me and they listened to all my concerns and were able to help me. I will definitely order again, because I know that they care about their customers to be completely satisfied and happy!

I like their range of products and service. Some of the sizes are off and some photos don't quite look same in person but I have a fair few pieces that I still wear after 3 years!
Disappointment
This is a horrible company. When you ask them for measurements for some of their clothing they never respond or don't get back to you till what you are interested in is out of stock. I had high hopes that I would be able to find a cute dress to wear to a birthday party, found a couple and chatted in to get the measurements to make sure that they would fit me before I bought them and the agents that I talked to told me that they would put in a request to get the measurements. It took about 1 week to get the first measurements and then I couldn't get the measurements due to the dress being out of stock. The other 2 that I requested measurements for a week ago I have still not received an answer for. I found a dress that I like at another site and they responded to me right away. They will be getting my money and this company will not.
Modcloth is disappointing
I complained about Metro Manila not being included in the address part of their shipping page. I've called them last 7/24 twice, 7/25 twice, 7/26, and 7/27. 6 times they promised they would fix this. Also, my e-mail sometimes doesn't appear on their end, so the calls aren't smooth. I really like their clothes, however I couldn't get it because other provinces in the Philippines are in their shipping page except for the capital, Metro Manila, where I want it to be shipped. I hope they fix this issue soon.
I was a first time customer
I was a first time customer so I received a coupon for my first purchase the code wasn't working so I chatted with customer service and were able to help with no problem. I received my shirts and love love them. When i washed the first time per the tag one of them ripped i cintacted customer service again and with no issue they gave me the choice of a full refund or a replacement. Modcloth used to be amazing about 5 years ago. The people who worked there used to be so helpful and cheerful. This change, to me, is a sign of bad upper management. I told them about an issue with the website (they were missing a shoe size in the search bar area) and they said they would tell IT. 6 months go by, I check periodically, no fix, so I chat them again. They said that they would "pass along the information" but that there was no guarantee it would be fixed. I asked to be sure she knew what I was referring to and she said, "Yes, the size 11 is omitted from the side search option." So basically she saw the problem but said there's no guarantee it'll be fixed. I asked if there was a way to leave general feedback and she said if I wanted to say anything she would pass it along. She then passed the buck saying that, "This is not something we in Customer Care have control over." Totally fine. I realize you cannot personally go in and fix the website, but that's an issue with the chain of handling complaints. It's not like I can go talk to Engineering. I used to love Modcloth so much and get excited about shopping there and getting things in the mail, but it's steadily declined in customer support and quality while simultaneously going up in price. I no longer feel confident or excited about shopping there.

Wonderful clothing, Company is improving
I've made 3 purchases from Modcloth, usually around 5 items each purchase. I love the clothing, though I do read reviews thoroughly for fit tips before purchasing. I have made a couple returns - both times the first attempt at returning items "appeared" go through, but I never got a return label. When contacted, initially Modcloth was not sympathetic, but I perservered and eventually they refunded the purchase price rather than receiving store credit. They claim to have an updated website that should have resolved the returns problems. I will continue to shop at Modcloth and have recommended them to several friends.

I ordered shoes that ended up being too small. Not to mention, they would have been super uncomfortable even if they fit. I didn't receive a return shipping label with my order so I had to wait to get that. Once they received my order back, they only gave me store credit just because it wasn't within 30 days of my order. So ridiculous! I have never heard of anyone having this type of policy before! I hate all their other items because the selection is HORRIBLE! So now that is $72 going to complete waste. So mad!

I really wanted to love them
I really wanted to love them, and I did get a couple of cute tops. But the sizes are all over the place (i.e. an XL dress too tight, but XL blouse is way too large). The return policy and customer service is soooooooo bad. If you don't return within 30 days you can only get store credit.
However, I've had problems with their website getting returns processed.... so I chatted with someone who promised they would send me a return label directly to my email... which didn't happen. Then I did another chat... and a return label was sent, but now that it has registered as returned, it WASN'T put back onto my card as promised, and instead I now have ANOTHER store credit... I'm tired of asking for things, and not getting them done. EVERY return is a big ordeal and with such inconsistent sizing and fit, and quality (jewelry is REALLY cheaply made)... it just isn't worth the hassle. I'm getting about 10% success rate with ordering stuff that works out, so am done. :(

I'm giving Modcloth 2 stars because they used to be really awesome and they have funky, unique designs, but their quality has gone way downhill since I began shopping with them years ago. Their return process is beyond painfully long and their response fornthat is they are updating their site, which they've been doing for 3 months so that excuse no longer works. They do respond to emails after a day or two, but with the same regurgitated information. Their clothing quality has gone down the tubes and everything is poorly made now, but the designs themselves are still cool.
Worst customer service....Be careful
I ordered two dresses from ModCloth as a gift for someone. The package did not show up in the time period that they said. The tracking number is invalid. When I contacted Customer Service today, a woman named Celeste said she would send me a new tracking number, but never did. She didn't do anything. So I have no idea where the package is. Would NEVER deal with this company again.

I have ordered from this company for a couple of years now with absolutely no complaints. They are wonderful, shipping is free, fast, returns are free within 30 days. I literally can't count how many times people stop and ask me where I got my clothes from and it's usually modcloth. Love the customer pics and measurements which help prevent me from buying a mistake item. I also love the wishlist feature if they've sold out of something- they'll email me when it returns. Their styles are more flattering and appropriate then in most department stores and the quality is superb.
I'm worried about their future since they just announced they'll be partnering with Walmart soon. Not sure what that will mean for their quality, customer service, or availability but I've never had a problem before. Fingers crossed...

I have returned a full order to Modcloth due to duplicate order which are worth US$157. They informed me they have received my items however they will not refund my order nor credit note to me due to I have passed my due day in return and in which they have kept my returns and my money!!! I live in Australia and I can't control the length of postage time!!!! I am not Australian post!!! And to top it up they have the worst customer service ever!!! They have scammed my money and even treat you like rubbish!!! It took me almost $100 Aus to return the bloody goods and either paypal wont help!!! They are both pests and Internet scams!! Be aware and do not buy anything or return anything from them! I want to voice out cos I don't want others experience the same as I did.
I am planning to take legal action towards this matter!

Wow, I'm honestly shocked to see that Modcloth has such a low rating here! Personally, I have had so many great experiences with this company, and order from them fairly regularly with no problems.
The only reason I knocked one star off was due to their return policies. If you're trying to exchange a popular item on their site, it's not guaranteed you'll get it. I received a beautiful dress from Modcloth for Christmas, but my mom ordered me a 3X instead of a 1X, so I set up an exchange. It seemed to be going smoothly, but about a week went by, and I got a message from Modcloth stating that the dress I wanted was a final sale only item since it was being discontinued, and they had no more 1X's in stock. They did remedy the situation by offering me store credit worth the full price of the item, but I was still bummed because I loved the dress. –– Also, on the negative, I originally started shopping with Modcloth because I love quirky vintage fashion. As of late, they've started to "modernize" a lot of their items, and a lot of the 40's/50's/60's etc. style dresses they used to carry a lot of are now sort of background items, which is unfortunate.
As for everything else, Modcloth is a stellar company. They're very committed to body diversity: you can buy just about everything on the site anywhere between XXXS and 4X. I've had great experiences with their customer service, and they host good sales, and a fun event called "Style Surprise" fairly regularly. Despite the couple minor shortcomings, I would highly recommend this site for anyone looking for something cute and unique. :)

Needed a size small for my sister's wedding, they were out of stock. I chatted with a customer service rep who suggested I buy the medium during the sale and exchange it for a small when they are back in stock. Did just that as soon as they came back in stock. Now they are out of stock and the best they can do is issue a refund. I need this dress in a small. Very frustrated. They don't reserve an item for you when you do an exchange, nor will they wait to return the correct product once it comes back in stock. They "have" to do the refund it immediately. ...no dress, very frustrated
Won't accept your Visa gift card
They won't accept Visa gift cards and their customer service reps are extremely rude and unhelpful. They kept telling me that the fact that the card was a gift was irrelevant and the problem was easy to solve by purchasing THEIR gift card. Either these reps are complete idiots who don't know how to do their job or extremely rude people who just don't care.
