Renovation work makes for an awful customer experience
In summary, the temporary arrangements are insufficient to serve the needs of customers. Perhaps if the staff owned this issue and made an effort to counter the poor solution, customers might feel valued, and not have to waste twenty minutes collecting a part.
Avoid this dealer. “Approved used”?? The question is, approved by who??
I do not normally write reviews about companies but find on this occasion I have no alternative due to the bad service they offer. I spent £40k on an “approved used” BMW but found out later on that means absolutely nothing and you might aswell purchase from a local garage rather than pay their premium price that supposedly offers peace of mind but in all reality doesn’t!
First off I had a fault with the car and phoned them for advice regarding the warranty….. nobody got back to me so I ended up ringing BMW Sandal who were far more helpful and sorted the problem. Then I came across the alloy wheel situation, 4 black alloy wheels, all flaking after just 7 months of ownership. Now I accept this was a used vehicle but a £40k used vehicle purchased from an official BMW dealer with an “approved used” status?? I don’t believe that should be happening and if it does, it should be rectified by them immediately but not with Halliwell Jones! They basically have no interest in anything that they can’t make money on and refused to even look at them. I spoke to Sandal about it and even they were shocked at how badly these wheels have been repaired before I purchased the vehicle and said it should not be happening on that type of wheel.
All I can say is, don’t be fooled like I was into believing you can relax by paying the extra premium from this dealer, they don’t deserve the business and once you have paid, will have no interest in any aftercare that they cannot profit from. Luckily I have a friend who usually purchases his new cars from the Manchester branch but will no longer after seeing how I have been dealt with.
Please avoid and use another dealer for your used BMW
Disappointing from start to finish
We bought a BMW last July for £24,500. Less than 11 months later, we took it to Haliwell Jones in Llandudno Junction to enquire about part-exchanging it for a £34,000 model. We were offered just £16,500 — an offer so low it felt downright insulting, especially given the excellent condition of the car and how recently it was purchased.
Apparently, our BMW depreciated faster than a banana in a heatwave. After this gut punch we decided to sell it privately on Motorway for over £19,000. Still a loss, but far more realistic. Hugely disappointing for a brand that claims to stand for quality and premium service.
Disappointing from start to finish and this experience showed how little BMW seems to value customer loyalty or their own vehicles. Won't be returning.

I recently bought a new X5 from Halliwell Jones north Wales and having bought quite a few cars from various dealerships this was by far the best experience I've ever had from the first enquiry to handover day was so professional in every way, Michael Bradshaw and John Arksey (new car sales manager) were fantastic they looked after me in every way so polite and caring for my every needs nothing was ever to much for them they helped me purchase this dream car with ease and pleasure. perfect is the word am using Halliwell Jones north Wales goes above and beyound I can't recommend these guys enough highly recommend BMW Halliwell jones North Wales and I will definitely be going back there for my next car without a doubt thank you so much Michael and John see you soon
Efficient repair but poor aftercare.
In May 2024, my BMW 330e was taken to BMW Llandudno for a differential replacement under warranty while my family and I were on holiday. The repair itself was handled efficiently, and I appreciated the timely service on that front.
However, the vehicle was not returned in the condition it was handed over. Upon delivery (via flatbed truck), the car had three minor scratches clearly noted on the damage sheet — marks that were not present prior.
Since then, I have been chasing BMW Llandudno for over a year regarding these issues, and unfortunately, I have received no follow-up or resolution. The lack of communication has been incredibly frustrating.
Additionally, I was assured a like-for-like replacement vehicle during the repair, but instead, this was outsourced to Hertz. As we were on holiday with a roof box full of gear, I made it very clear that we either needed a vehicle with compatible roof bars or one large enough to carry our equipment. What we were provided — a small SEAT — did not meet either requirement, and no alternative was arranged.
To make matters worse, when I called into the dealership on our way home, I was met with indifference. There were several suitable cars on the forecourt that could have resolved the situation, but no help was offered.
As a result, we had to cut our holiday short by a day and then make a 300-mile round trip the following day just to retrieve the roof box and our belongings — entirely avoidable with proper aftercare and communication.
In summary: while BMW Llandudno was competent with the repair work itself, the post-service care has been the worst I’ve experienced to date. The scratches remain unresolved, and we're still out of pocket in both time and travel expenses.
Much improved customer service team
I tentatively booked in an EGR recall for my BMW at Halliwell North Wales after a bad sales experience several years ago. Delighted to say things were much better and the service team were friendly, warm and helpful (Chloe & Meg I believe). Even a nice gift bag was received for the inconvenience of a recall. Can confidently return again now.

Mini Warranty Halliwell Jones
I bought Mini in Warranty Halliwell Jones, before purchasing the car, I was promised that the Wheel &screw rusty problem would be solved, but when I took delivery of the car, the problem was obviously not solved, but lied and claimed that it had been solved. I complained to the company website and received no reply.
Vehicle Purchase-Faults!
Purchased a vehicle on line in principal as live over 250 miles away. Could not collect vehicle for over 3 weeks due to dealership wanting the car in good shape. However when informed the vehicle was ready for collection, it clearly wasn't! Having travelled for over 250 miles as soon as the ignition was engaged, it showed an engine fault. The key battery was also showing it needed changing. A small fault, however when mentioned, I would have to find a stockist & change it myself. Not a comment or service I would expect from anyone let alone a main dealership! Having made sure the vehicle was indeed ready for collection & being patient before making plans to travel, it obviously wasn't which was a huge disappointment & not something I have ever experienced previously from dealerships. Maybe because we lived some distance, the dealership weren't that bothered about repeat business. I even had an email afterwards asking how the car was, but when replied with comments, received nothing by reply. So buyers just beware & vigilant.
Shame because staff were pleasant.
BMW Halliwell Jones Chester
BMW Halliwell Jones Chester
We took our car for a free warranty check and 1st MOT.
We told BMW about a couple of faults and left the car there. When my girlfriend went to pick up the car is when things went wrong. Several things had been flagged on the warranty check but not fixed, the faults we pointed out were not dealt with satisfactorily and my girlfriend was told "they're fine" which they were not. The MOT was failed on tyres that were less than 8 months old. My girlfriend was told the tyres were dangerous and would need 2 new tyres at a cost of nearly £600. My girlfriends father (Mr tyres) worked for Michelin tyres for 34 years and went to inspect the "faulty tyres" and found no fault. Displeased with the service, attitude and dishonesty of BMW halliwell Jones Chester I took my car to another BMW dealership where they told me the tyres were fine and asked why non of the warranty work flagged on the halliwell jones report had been done.
I feel that BMW halliwell Jones acted in a dishonest, misogynistic and discriminatory way when they saw my girlfriend drop off and pick the car and "tried it on" to rip us off as they had done free work and had to make up some fault to get their money back.
This dishonest behaviour is against the law, sexist behaviour towards my girlfriend is unacceptable. When you buy a BMW and spend a lot of money doing so you expect much better customer service.
It's nice having a BMW but it's awful dealing BMW halliwell jones chester. I'll go elsewhere for my next car.
THEY SELL FAULTY VEHICLES
I purchased a vehicle from Haliwell Jones North Wales end of Jan CY69 BVP
I thought buying from BMW ment the car would be reliable and i would have peace of mind against any faults
However as I drove home from the dealership the whole journey I could feel the steering wheel vibrating but assumed this is just how the car was, the handling didnt feel as great as other bmws I have driven and it slightly felt like it was pulling to one side. I then realised the vehicle was drinking lots of fuel so then decided to raise a issue about this to Andy Roberts. He suggested to book it in to my local dealer and under warranty they will take a look at it. After nearly 2 months the vehicle has been checked yesterday and they confirmed that there was a faulty part in the exhaust which would be giving less mpg and they are repairing under warranty and they said in regards to the steering vibration it would be because 2 of the wheels are buckled on the drivers side for a while and requires urgent attention and quoted nearly £1500 for these 2 wheels. I told Andy about this because this problem has been there since I purchased the vehicle and he is denying saying they cant do nothing and they always check the vehicles before sending it out. It really makes me question now how reliable are BMW and their checks seeing as the exhaust fault was not found by them but found by another dealership, I really think Haliwell Jones do a poor job when it comes to checking the vehicles as they did not notice this faulty exhaust or the 2 buckled wheels. This has now caused me to be driving on damaged wheels which is going to cause me further problems such as affecting suspension as the rim is heavily buckled. Andy stated the alloys on this vehicle had been refurbrished in the past so I can only assume a very poor job was carried out or only the outside of the wheel was done and not the rear and inside where the damage was. Or maybe when it was driven from North Wales to Warrington where i picked up it was done by whoever transferred the vehicle there. What I am now very angry about is that I have been spending a awful amount of money on fuel in the past 2 months and this is only due to Haliwell Jones selling me a faulty vehicle and now they dont want to do anything about it. What I would like to seek in order to put things right is simply a fully working vehicle which I have paid a lot of money for. I would like Haliwell Jones to not only fix the problem with the buckled alloys they sold me but in fact I demand further compensation for the extra amounts I have spent on fuel then I usually would have. I need this to be looked at the at the earliest because the wheels require urgent attention and this is unsafe for me to drive on clearly and I am a daily user of a car. Ill be sharing my experience with haliwell jones on other platforms shortly
Great sales, very poor aftersales
I had originally left a glowing review of Halliwell Jones BMW, North Wales but unfortunately their aftersales does not match their ability to sell cars. Still waiting for jobs to be carried out om my vehicle that should have been done a lot sooner !
I’ve been a customer of this branch for…
I’ve been a customer of this branch for many years. We always buy our cars from here. The operation is very slick and efficient. Nothing is too much trouble. I take my vehicle in for any work and can wait in the waiting room where refreshments are provided and much appreciated or one of the staff will drop me into whichever local town I want and will pick me back up when my car is ready. A video of the observations is also sent via email so we can see what work has been done. What a brilliant way to look after your customers. Last Tuesday my car was in for a recall, I didn’t want to wait around so I was driven with my family into local Conwy by Jon. What a lovely man very chatty and charming. He has been employed at Haliwells for 17 years and was complimentary about the company which says a lot. Luca who dealt with my repair was also really friendly and efficient.
Well done Haliwells keep up the good work
