Got everything we needed and some helpful advice, Kia was on the till, her customer service was excellent and she was super friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you

We had such a fantastic experience today at GO Outdoors thanks to George. He was absolutely amazing from start to finish. So knowledgeable, friendly, approachable and genuinely passionate about helping customers.

My husband and I were looking for new walking boots and honestly couldn’t have chosen the right ones without his help. George really knew his stuff, took the time to listen to what we needed, explained everything clearly and made us both feel very welcome and comfortable throughout.

Customer service like this is hard to find these days and George is a real credit to the store. Thank you again for all your help — we left feeling confident, well looked after and very excited for our upcoming trips!

We were served by Kia who was on the checkouts by herself, with quite a queue to get through. She was calm and very kind to everyone, making friendly chat as she went along whilst still getting through the queue efficiently. She put a smile on our faces before we left, thank you for brightening our morning!

I was in quite the rush, a train to catch and needed camping supplies. I was served by a staff member Kadi, who was efficient, diligent and calm. Not having time to walk through the whole shop searching for 'this and that' Kadi seemed aware of what go out doors has and where in the shop to locate the item. And then even offering to get the item. I hope a managerial role is on the horizon for Kadi.

Tom was super helpful today - he knew exactly what I needed and how to help me choose the right product based on my specific trip. He even helped me carry the items to the till as I was struggling alone!

Kia was serving us today , she was very friendly , professional and helpful .

Till operator Kia was very friendly and professional, pulled out a student discount that I didn’t even know was valid for go outdoors.

Tom was patient and helpful. He listened intently to my issue and did everything he could to help me choose what I needed. Although he admitted that camping stoves weren’t his ‘department’ he helped as much as he could and then called Ryan to clarify a few things. Last week I was miss sold a stove which was not compatible with the gas bottle I already had, so I really needed someone who listened to the problem and was careful and precise with their advice.
So thank you to Tom and thank you to Ryan!!!

Nia was such a welcoming young lady, she told me about the members card which allowed me to save a lot of money. she was a great help today and treated with the most utter respect. give this girl a raise!!!!!!

Kia and Nia very helpful and efficient. No queries when returning an item, and very friendly.

I use this place regularly just for the fishing gear. Great selection of baot and tackle. As I'm still pretty new to fishing any help and advice is great. Today we were served by Patrick. He had some great advice on baits and was really good at keeping my son entertained with stories about where the red maggots come from 🤢

Jack at the Gloucester store was incredibly helpful to me in selecting a new pair of running shoes. His advice was thorough and honest and he got many pairs for me to try on to help me find the right shoe.

Left a very happy customer!

Today in the Gloucester store we were served by Kya who was not only very polite and cheerful but also extremely helpful. She went above and beyond and we left the store feeling uplifted.

Returning an item for exchange, very simple and well served by Alex.

My order still hasn’t arrived after 8 days,
At one point phoned to check and was told it was available to collect and on the shelf, drove 13 miles to store only to find the order was not fully there and wasted my time. Left empty handed..
I won’t be ordering ever again or recommend it..
I’ll stick to just visiting the store and if there buy it..

History of go outdoors incompetence

Poor quality products (OEX) among other own label products.
Great tents maybe if you wish to camp down the garden once or twice in a blue moon, however when used in real life continued use enviroment not at all up to the job. Clothing, previously ordered brown combat trousers yet on delivery they are RAF blue not dark brown, according to GO this is their version of brown. Checking out in store previously took over half an hour because GO claimed that they couldn't find me on the system going as far as to claim my address was not valid, even though it is on my driving licence and all official documentation. This issue caused my taxi waiting for me to pop in and collect to accrue a £20 extra waiting charge. Yes they eventually found me on the system under those exact details, thats the issue with postcode finder as opposed to manual address. My latest order worth over £350 would not allow me to use my membership number for a discount so i paid full price, again an issue with the website itself. Their is previous issues going way back with GO but ill leave those in the past and NO im not interested in contacting GO via their complaints protocol of contacting them via the email response channel that will be posted to this review, WHY ? Because ive been here previously with GO and the back and forth via that channel or their customer support number (if it still exists) leads only to further frustration !

In Brief i say this.

As a seasoned outdoor pro i find that even big brand names have issues on occasion (its just a label) research products well and ignore silly pointless influencers and BS marketing claims, find quality providers including brand names and remember that you only get what you pay for, the difference between for example a £750 brand jacket and a cheaperversion say £250 are night and day. Own brands are pointless cheap mass produced made in China tat, big name brands are also made the same way only some are better than others.

RAB, NORTH FACE, BERGHAUS, SCARPA have all delivered me good products however all on occasion have delivered tat that failed.

Try and avoid the American middleman who owns the brand name licence and search out origional sources.

My top picks are Osprey, Mountain Equipment, Miendl, Paramo, Rab (tarps and tents only) go direct to the source when possible and understand the difference between brands and labels that are licenced and compare to the origional source product.

Example :

Rab tent £250 at a big shed like GO, and yes i know GO do not sell Rab tent's it is an example. Compared to real Rab tent's on the official Rab site that start upwards of £600 ....

I will add that most of the staff at GO are polite and helpful, this review is aimed squarely at Go Outdoors not the store in question ...

Freddie was very helpful today. He gave us great options of which shoes to buy, explaining why each was a good choice and had great knowledge on each one. He answered all of our questions and was very prompt in collecting the correct shoes for us. The store was clearly laid out and not overwhelming. Also, it was towards the end of the day and we did not feel rushed at all. Thank you!

Very speedy response to my communication and all at a cheap price. What more can you say!
