I will no longer be using Eventbrite for my social club, and honestly, I now despise this company. After requesting them to refund the remaining £4 of each attendee’s payment (£20 total, which includes a £16 restaurant deposit per person), they outright refused. This £4 was intended to cover part of the restaurant deposit—something most venues require for larger group bookings—but Eventbrite has chosen to withhold it as part of their “reserve fund.” Let me break down just how unreasonable this is:

First, they already take a cut of around £2 per ticket for their fees. On top of that, I have to cover the £4 per attendee out of pocket to ensure the restaurant deposit is met. What this means is, despite attendees paying the full £20, I end up at a financial loss while Eventbrite keeps a portion of my revenue under the pretext of "refunds or chargebacks"—even when my events clearly state no refunds. Unless an event is cancelled, there's absolutely no justification for this.

Here’s the response I received after making a complaint:

Thank you for contacting us before and for your ongoing patience while we worked on this matter.
After many further discussions with our internal team, they have confirmed that the reserve is non-negotiable, so it can't be waived or lowered.
Part of our scheduled payouts policy is that we withhold a reserve, which is equal to 20% of the net sales at the time of each payout, to have funds available in case of refund requests or chargebacks. There is no exception to this, even if your refund policy is “No refunds”.
This reserve is paid out with your final payout after the event, which begins processing three days after your event takes place. You can refer to the next article for more information regarding this topic: [link]

This policy is not only inconvenient for me as an organiser but also for my attendees. I've had to direct them to avoid purchasing tickets via Eventbrite moving forward. Using their service now feels like navigating a scam. Their system disregards common sense, forcing organisers like me to dig into our own pockets to make up for withheld funds—funds that should go towards the event. Unless your event is cancelled, why should they hold on to this money? It’s illogical, unnecessary, and greedy.

Eventbrite used to be my go-to platform because it was straightforward and trustworthy. But with these changes, I am done with them. Moving forward, I’ll be using Meetup.com and my own website to sell tickets and manage events. I refuse to work with a company that makes event organising this complicated and financially draining. It’s disappointing to see what they’ve become.

I bought tickets through Eventbrite for a Ceilidh Of the Nest collective at Grand Junction. It was the worst Ceilidh I have ever attended. There was no music! and no dancing! They refused to refund me and so did Eventbrite.
This bad event has discouraged me from paying for tickets from Eventbrite. Previously I'd used Eventbrite for free events. I am sure that if I pay for an event and turn up and it isn't happening, I should have a refund. I will now onwards only use Eventbrite for free events.

Do not ever use this dating company. They are a lie.

I initially booked the wrong Friday and instantly saw my mistake and cancelled the order and so applied for a refund. They refused it and said their policy is no refunds. Credit card company are having no luck dealing with them.

On to the actual dating night I went o when i booked the correct night. Basically I turned up in a restaurant and they had reserved 2 table for everyone. That's it. No host. No introductions. There were 6 of us there, who saw we had been taken for mugs 4 guys, two girls). It was the same as going to a random bar and talking to anyone.

The Eventbrite online Ticket system put people off attending Sheffield Epilepsy Action Group at United Reform Church Norfolk Street, Sheffield every 2nd Thursday in Month causing people to think that they have to pay for their tickets and due to low attendance so now the Sheffield Epilepsy Action Group has closed in the new year I hope you're satisfied Eventbrite.

I recently bought 4 tickets for a event on the platform Oct 2024, for an event which took place on the 30th November 24. Due to a bereavement I cancelled 1 ticket on the website as per the requirements i.e. 7 days before the event. Despite this they cancelled 3 tickets. I then had to contact the promoter to reinstate 2 tickets and just refund 1. To date I am still waiting for my refund of £55.50. I have contacted eventbrite via the website on numerous occasions and also Facebook messaging to no avail. They do not answer any communication unless you are going to do business with them. This was evident on Facebook. There you can see there are numerous complaints about this business yet they are able to keep trading. I have resorted to PayPal to see if I can get my money back. Oh I forgot to mention. It is virtually impossible to get in contact with anyone at eventbrite.

The site tricks you into paying more than once. After entering the card details and pressing the button to submit the order I got a long spinning wheel followed by a message "The order could not be completed". I tried multiple times, receiving the same message every time. Later when I went to my email I discovered 3 separate orders with tickets so clearly I've been billed 3 times when all I wanted was a single ticket. Then you get a story about refunds. In my view this is fraud, plain and simple.

Event was advertised incorrectly and we paid a lot more than the venue was advertising the event for.

Someone opened an account in my email and joined events that spam my email with scam crypto emails. i claimed the account to delete it but you cant delete an account that has tickets on it and whoever made the account found a way to make the events un able to be cancelled so i cannot delete the account. This website has no support so there is no way to stop the scam email or delete account.

Eventbrite is just so unfriendly to its users. Unfortunately, a membership I belong to uses it. I wish they’d use Zoom or anything else instead. Eventbrite seems to be designed specifically to be inflexible and to hide its features, such as they are. The technical quality of videos is poor, don’t know whether that’s their or organisers’ fault, but whatever, I find it a poor experience all round.

Don't book anything through Eventbrite. I recently discovered the hard way that many events listed with them are not verified and anyone can create an event associated with another. Got to a venue only to be told they weren't using Eventbrite for bookings despite what I thought was a genuine listing. They told me whoever set it up on Eventbrite wasn't officially recognised yet Eventbrite let them do it. Eventbrite have no control over who lists venues and they just pocket the cash regardless. It's almost borderline a 'scam' events site. I would strongly recommend finding another event booking system and avoid anything related to Eventbrite like I will do in the future.

I went with 2 children aged 5 and 14 to a fair and fireworks display at Holdenby House Northants 05.11.24.It was absolutely spectacular in every way.We stood at the front and had a clear view of the fireworks. Weather conditions were fairly typical of a November misty night which meant as you would expect some smoke from the fireworks to linger but it didn't affect me or the children in any way.The parking was well managed and getting in and out was very smooth.It was a wonderful evening and one which I hope will be a regular event at Holdenby each year. I'm so grateful to have been able to get to the tickets before it sold out.Thank you to Eventbrite and Holdenby house for this amazing experience.

We booked/paid for an event on Sat morning
Travelled 45 mins to event to find the hall locked & no event taking place. We later found that it had been cancelled several days earlier but eventbrite still took our money
No customer service, & although we will no doubt eventually get a refund - this will be a big hassle.

Eventbrite don’t care about customers . No contact number . Very useless AI BOT to answer you with solution . You request for a refund for your money spent on a cancelled event and you can’t even submit the forms on their website ! I am shocked no one has competed with this very mediocre service ! Don’t use them if you can avoid it ! Useless services

I ran a class on there and a semi nude man turned up. Eventrbite doesnt seem to have any policies around disgusting trolls and sexual harrassers turning up to classes.

Booked and paid for a walking tour. The guide didn’t turn up and Eventbrite will not refund money. Do not book with them as the tour won’t happen and you will loose your money.

I booked a free walking tour for 10/14/2024. I wake up in the morning and was cancelled. I was able to book it again for the same day and time. Nobody showed up. I will never use Eventbrite again. Horrible.

Lies. Steals your money. I wish Foyles wouldn't use them.

I requested a refund (it was not for a Foyles event) Eventbrite stated it would need to first contact the organisers. How long do you think this took? Well it was immediate. I was refunded 1.55 less than I paid. Not the full amount Eventbrites refund page did not work; it's AI bot is useless.

Worst app ever!

Try to Log in with an email and asked for a link, link sent and it just went back to the same log in page again and again. Hate this app so much

Same issue as others. Tickets they sent don't actually show where the event is. I tried to contact eventbrite and they only have AI support. That's not helpful at all. Then message the organizer. Some scam dude who hasn't replied and the event is in 20 mins. I'll likely just dispute the charges with my credit card. Save your money and book with the venue.
