Outstanding tour. My wife and I took the custom tour that China Odyssey Tours put together for us. It included Xian, Guilin, a Yangtze River cruise, and Shanghai. We have traveled all over the world and can compare this tour with many others. I can report that it was exceptional. Everywhere we visited had a tour guide with English proficiency and a driver in our own car. The sequence of places visited was perfect. The hotels were excellent, the commentary was good, and the guides and drivers were friendly. There was flexibility in that, if we wanted to eliminate a part of the planned itinerary, the guides were OK with that. All in all, a superb tour.

Just finished a 10 day tour arranged by China Odyssey. I can say I had exceptional guides through each city we were at. Our tour included Beijing, Xian,Chengdu, Guilin and Shanghai. It is great to be met at the airport or train station and taken to your hotel or taken to your first sightseeing adventure. It makes travelling in China a whole lot easier and enjoyable. Each guide was a local from area we were seeing. Locals can always point you in the right direction and also offer excellent opinions for restaurants. A great experience.

My husband and I worked with Mr. Wei of China Odyssey Tours to plan a private, high-end, customized multi-city tour of China. Mr Wei was professional in every way and customized the trip to include everywhere we wanted to go, everything we wanted to see, and he picked top hotels in every city. We even changed the itinerary several times to accommodate meeting friends in China, and he made every change and worked out every detail quickly and efficiently. Great communication with us even though he is in China and we are here in the U.S. Highly recommended!

From the initial contact for the planning of our trip to our return home, we could not have asked for a better experience. Our contact for planning the trip understood what we wanted. The guides were knowledgeable, personable, adaptable to our wishes, and fun to be with. I would work with China/Odyssey Tours again in a heart beat.

After receiving a few quotes, we quickly decided to book with Odyssey. I myself, having worked in the travel industry all of my 35 year career, was a little hesitant having not booked via a offshore website before for a personal holiday with 7 friends. Our 15 day tour was fabulous. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable and always on time.
The drivers were always safe.
This country is hard to communicate with so an Chinese/English speaking guide was totally necessary. We had a private guide and it was so good to travel along at our own speed.
It was a stress-free holiday.

Roger at China Odyssey Tours arranged a wonderful 21 day China trip to seven cities with guides and tours in each city and train and plane reservations between each city and everything was perfect. The transfers to the hotels met us at each station and airport and the hotels were truly 5 star resorts. Highly recommend this travle company for China tours.

Traveling with a local guide gives a different perspective of each region. This was a huge plus I didn't expect! The safe, local restaurants recommended by our guides relieved a lot of worries about food compatibility. The tour highlighted the diversity of China as well as its rich history as told by each informed guide. I appreciated the exceptional communication and coordination between the drivers/guides and felt totally pampered by their care, planning, and execution. China Odyssey Tours made my trip truly a wonderful lifetime experience! I would highly recommend this company!

We’ve just returned home from our two week trip of a lifetime to China with visits to Beijing, Xi’an, Guilin and Yangshuo. Haley Jiang of China Odyssey Tours was invaluable in assisting us in planning our itinerary and ensuring that our amazing adventure complete with guides Jeff, Susan and John and drivers went well. We were able to personalize our itinerary and also able to make last minute changes as our trip proceeded. The whole Odyssey team was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and professional.

China Odyssey made our trip a 5 star experience, meeting us at the airport, driving us everywhere, checking in and out of hotels. We always request lunch to be included as get to experience the most wonderful flavours that China has to offer. Odyssey with our input plans our days, booking tours, buying tickets, ensuring we have the most wonderful carefree time.

Maple has been helping us plan our 25 day tour of China, which she has been super helpful. We had an idea about where we wanted to go, and she was able to figure out the best itinerary for us. A nice mix of main sightseeing, plus some off the beaten track places. At the same time, she allowed us to chose our own hotels, but would also give us some good recommendations. We have a nice mix of charming boutique and luxury four to five star. One of the things we were worried about was being stuck with guides who wanted to take us to stores instead of sights, she has promised us that the guides she has booked us with would only take us sightseeing and not shopping. Maple has been quick to respond. Sometimes we wonder if she even sleeps, or has a day off because of how quickly she would get back to us...and if she did have a day off, she always apologized for not getting back to us right away. All in all it has been a positive experience planning our trip to China with Maple. Now we just need to experience the trip. Looking forward to it.

This is my first time to use China Odyssey tours and I would say that I am extremely pleased and will use them again in the future.
Maple Zheng my tour consultant had responded in a timely manner to all my questions, guided me throughout the planning ,made adjustments on iterinaries I requested and sent all documents I needed for the Visa application . She sent all contacts (guides and supervisors) names and phone numbers in each part of China we visited , all the domestic flights informations (airlines , fight number, time of departure and arrival etc) and special touch is few days before we left she instructed me to call the supervisor immediately if I am not happy with the driver or the tour guide so that the problem will be resolved on the spot, to ensure our trip is as we expected.
This was a private tour with one couple ( our friends) a little pricey compared to a group but as expected because it was catered to places we want to see , we were not rushed and we had ample time to take pictures. On the last 2 days of our tour, we decided to visit local markets and do a little shopping and just drive though a couple of places on our tour list. This worked to our advantage . Thank you Stacy for being patient.
Maple also had emailed me in the middle of the tour make sure we are good.
We were reimbursed for porterage charges when we got off our cruise . The money was given on our last day . The guides never told me this but I had a feeling that Maple had been in contact with them
All throughout our trip.
The guides and drivers were all on time . The guides were all patient , knowlegeable and accommodating.

We planned a tour to china with Odyssey Tours. Though we ended up postponing the trip till next year for personal reasons, the experience I had in putting the itinerary together with Odyssey Tours was exceptional. This was a private tour for 4 adults arriving from two different countries. The plan was to visit Beijing, Xian, Chengdu, Yangtzi river cruise and Shanghai. Odyssey Tours made us an incredibly interesting itinerary for 13 days and the tour was packed with attractions and activities plus plenty of time to spend on our own. Odyssey Tours was very flexible when we wanted to do a couple of changes. The price was very reasonable. Responded quickly to my emails. Overall excellent experience and I recommend Odyssey Tours highly for your next china holiday.

Arriving in Beijing, Alice was waiting for us, full of enthusiasm and energy ,took us outside to get the car, which arrived in a few minutes. Into the car and of to a nice Hotel. Next morning at 9.00 as agreed, Alice and the driver where waiting. We went to see Tenanment square,Forbidden City and Terracotta worriers, with excellent commentary. As with Alice, Bruce, Army, Marie and Flora were the same, punctual considering and informative. The whole trip run like a Switch watch. This is not a 5 Star Comp. it is a 6 Star

From start to finish Odyssey has been fantastic. I cannot say enough about Susan S. our travel planner. She ALWAYS returned emails promptly, was very accommodating to requests and put together an amazing trip that ran seamlessly. All her suggestions for hotels and tours were spot on, and any requests they could not honor were clearly stated and had alternatives offered or allowed us to book on our own.

On the ground, our private tour of 4 adults and 2 children experienced the amazing country of China for 11 nights. Drivers were always on time, courteous and professional, from Beijing to Shanghai and everywhere in between. Our guides were amazing as well. Thank you to Moko, Diana, Annie and Stanley for all you did to make our trip so memorable. At every airport and train station there they were, waiting and happy to see us. On departure, the held our hands, helped with translation and made sure we were off without a hitch.

My family and our travel companions travel quite a bit, and we were never disappointed or felt at all let down by what was promised. In fact, we felt that for the amazing price, we came out on top with memories that will last a lifetime.

I put all my trust in the reviews that I could find for this company. I was going to be a long way from home, and do not speak the language.

They did not let me down. They were with us every step of the way, and we had contact details for everyone.

My wife and I were in Beijing and Seoul for business.
Odyssey got us to Shanghai for some sightseeing, back to Beijing for business, off to Xi'an so that I could check the Terracotta warriors off my bucket list and then onto our flight to Seoul.

Pros and Cons? All Pros! Not a single con that I can come up with.

They met, and exceeded my hopes for an awesome adventure!

I looked for a tour company in China researching through Trip Advisor and found China Odyssey Tours and right from my first contact with them they were excellent. Odyssey prepared a suggested itinerary based on the dates I gave them and the arrival city and departure city I wanted and then if I wanted changes they accommodated this for me. Hayley was our tour consultant and I could not fault her communication and responsiveness to our requests and it was also good to meet her while we were in Guilin. All the tour guides were excellent and knowledgeable and the drivers were good and we felt very safe. Would certainly recommend China Odyssey Tours to anybody who is looking to put together an itinerary for a trip to China.
