Delays and horrible seating
Trains are delayed. Then I end up riding backward in business class seats that cost significantly more than coach. I get severe motion sickness and since I have a business class seat that was assigned to a backward facing seat I am stuck. Trip to DC I got off and was sick for 2 days. Finally better and now the return trip is the same. I was not given a choice when I made my reservation months in advance. I am flying next time. Faster and no backward facing seats to ruin my trip.

Horrifying company and trip
God, easily the worst company I’ve ever travelled with. Just had a 1 and a half hour trip turn into 6.5 hours. It’s 11:42 PM as I write this and they’re still not to my station. Offered no food, water, or anything for passengers. People without phone chargers were screwed. They make insane amounts of money and run trains that are absolute SHIT. I’m embarrassed for anyone who is a part of this company

Disabled? Think twice!
If I could leave “no stars” I would. This was my first and last trip with amtrack. We started in Toledo, OH going to Atlanta, GA the trip was for moving my mother-in-law to live with us. Reservations were made for two disabled adults when we arrived at the station I learned the reservations were NOT how I made them and had to be changed which snowballed from that very moment.
1. There was no proper access for people with disabilities Except for boarding the train.
2. The room on both trains were the most disgusting, nastiest place I have ever stayed in, who knows what diseases infested the places. We were all but forgotten because we were in the very last car on the first train from what I could tell.
3. The food was beyond horrible and not edible.
4. When we boarded our last train we learned the toilet in our room was non-functional because someone flushed a paper towel. My mother-in-law was forced to once again walk sideways with a walker down one-and-a-half-ish cars to get to a bathroom but was unable to get there in time. Later I learned there was a room with a functioning toilet they could have put in from the beginning of this part of the trip.
5. When we arrived in Atlanta I personally heard the maintenance worker say the problem with the toilet was an easy fix that could have been fixed long before we arrived in Atlanta.
6. So, the staff decided to move us to another room with a working toilet, I didn't understand the move but later learned they thought we were going to Alabama for whatever reason, so once again, my mother-in-law had to walk sideways down a very long corridor to the room. Once in the room, she fell but was ok and it was not the fault of any of the train staff.
The whole experience was completely and utterly disgusting for people with disabilities. If I could post the pictures here I would. As Americans, we fund this atrocity with our taxes then we are charged an atrocious amount of money to use this method of transportation.
We will be seeking legal counsel because of the lack of accommodation for people with disabilities.

Food poor, restaurant service abysmal, never enough seats in observation car and filthy windows that spoiled all the photographs and views : low clearance above top bunk made getting in and out very difficult and at times the rough ride caused us to fear derailment. We recently crossed Canada on the "Canadian" and were expecting an equally good experience so were very disappointed. Magnificent huge apparently recently built trains but they did not deliver the experience they should have. We had a breakdown and were astonished when the passengers were asked to help with the necessary repair.
Awful
Awful, awful. When you are disabled and have to sit on the floor cause there are no seats you know this is a bad way to travel. If you are a family travelling together you will not be able to sit together. 2 people occupying the 4 family seats and not willing to move for a family or disabled person and staff aboard the train allow this. Do yourself a favour and fly, we are not from the US and thought the train might be a nice change but it was not nice at all.

Amtrak Norfolk to DC: Unfriendly Staff and Poor Customer Service
I recently took the Amtrak train from Norfolk to DC, and while the train itself was clean and seemed well-maintained, the overall experience was disappointing due to the unfriendly staff. As a paying customer, I expect a basic level of respect, but unfortunately, the employees on board seemed indifferent to that.
When asking a question about the cafeteria train, I was met with responses that felt belittling and condescending, as if my inquiries were an inconvenience. It’s frustrating to feel that customer service is an afterthought, especially when Amtrak’s future depends on the satisfaction of its business travelers.
I hope Amtrak realizes that the way their employees treat passengers will directly affect the number of future travelers. Friendly and helpful service can make all the difference in someone choosing to travel by train again.

On October 19 Schedule shows arriving time 7:30 pm it is now October 20, 12:05 am I am writing this review and I am not arriving to Oxnard yet. 6 hours delay is not acceptable under any circumstances. Shame of your awful service less than deficient.

ACELA 2150 DC to Boston - just ridiculous. Train was expected to get into NY at 7:48 but didn’t get in until 9:27. This is Amtrak’s business service where the expectation is to get folks to their jobs in a timely manner… Cars and buses on the highway were going faster. Cited mechanical failures but for the price of this service we should at least expect regular maintenance and inspections. Unfortunately this is becoming the norm for Amtrak even as prices climb. Missed meetings and lost two hours pay… oh well. . .
