I was told I was only paying a .75 advisor fee and that was it. In on my funds, there were hidden fees and my baselive for commision was 1.5%. Also, they screwed up on my Annuity and they really pushed me hard to lock me into one - I totally regret it now and I'm locked in for 6 years. Ameriprise said they were going to fix the problem with my annuity, but I'm still waiting on them to fix it - they keep bouncing it around to other agents. Also, on many of my fund I was triple invested in the same things and they had me do 19 mutual funds/ETFs.

I see only very negative reviews here. Why is that? Can Trust in the name be trusted for verifiable source information? I am 100% satisfied with Ameriprise. My financial advisor is hard-working - we meet regularly to assess performance and time is taken during every check-in for questions regarding the economy, markets, returns, etc. I'm deeply disapointed that the review results don't reflect what is very likely a more even distribution of satisfaction, delight (like this reviewer has reflected) and dissatisfaction. I urge everyone to only trust multiple perspectives and sources of information on companies and services.

This message is to alert customers about poor customer service and financial advice at Ameriprise and it’s associated company Riversource.

Me and several members of my family received an inherited account at Ameriprise and Riversource and have had the following problems.

1) All members of my family were originally provided an Ameriprise advisor to answer questions about our inherited accounts and annuities. Ameriprise had the contact details of all family members in the inherited accounts. My advisor was withdrawn without explanation and no recommended or substitute advisor was provided.

2) I learned three years later that my account provided annual distributions from Riversource. Ameriprise had my correct address yet Riversource sent checks and account information to the incorrect address for three years without verification or correction from Ameriprise.

3) I recently requested financial advice from Ameriprise which indicated that they would provide regular advice and a financial plan. They did neither despite charging me for this service and did not reply to repeated messages including to Ameriprise’s secure chat. After multiple complaints, I was able to retrieve funds from Ameriprise for a service they did not provide.

4) I asked a question regarding required minimum distributions (RMDs) on an account. I was given an answer. When I followed up on that answer on an unrelated question several weeks later, I was given a completely different answer regarding RMDs on that account. Ameriprise has confirmed that the first answer was incorrect which raises questions about the accuracy of their advice and the quality of their staff.

In the past, I have worked with other companies including T Rowe Price, Fidelity, and Vanguard. Each of these companies have their advantages and disadvantages yet all have basic and acceptable customer service. I have written to several members of Ameriprise (Ameriprise Financial, 2923 Ameriprise Financial Center, Minneapolis, MN 55474), including to their secure mail site without responses.

I have found that Ameriprise and Riversource has poor and unacceptable customer service and provides poor financial advice and do not recommend them.

Unhelpful, obstructive and unethical. I am now making formal complaint and considering escalating to FINRA and SEC.

Could not access my account today to make a trade. I only stay with them because I am grandfathered in for 10 free trades per month. I don't need financial advice from a 25 y/o.

These people keep leaving me voice mails about my (live) sisters account, but I’ve tried calling and they have nothing. I called a local office and they said they can’t do anything without power of attorney but why did they repeatedly call me? What a messed up company wasting my time

This company cant be trusted,they change life insurance beneficiaries then get their cut...they blatantly do this..ill keep on until I get a certain someone's reviewed,or fix the scam they have going with Riversourse.

Rich Shad He retired and had somebody else the other person I only spoke to a couple of times but when my mother died in 18 years ago, they never changed the beneficiary, find his America stuff. That's number one.Number two, Rich Shad in New Jersey when he had heard that my father died, he called me up Drunk Slurrring his words saying how sorry he was and how great my dad was? And all this, I'm sorry, that wasn't a very big help. At the time to have somebody from a supposed reputable company.Call me up all drunk, just saying doesn't represent your company very well.Even if he was retired. Number three. I've never ever heard a company that when the person is on vacation or out. Sick or whatever you have to wait until they come back. Well sometimes people need stuff that day they can't wait around until the advisor comes back from vacation.It's ridiculous.Some people depend on that kind of stuff. And if they are on vacation, well, shouldn't they have somebody else there that can do things no, they can't.I don't know why, but it's stupid. Would never recommend your company to anybody. Your the Worst, what should have been a simple process? Because nobody changed the beneficiaries and took it out of my mother's name. It created a nightmare and put more and more stress on me. And my family because of this.

I should have thought more about investing when the two reps walked into the school I was working at wearing fancy suits and gold watches. They were aggressive and took advantage of a young, inexperienced investor. I soon realized my mistake when one of them kept calling me at home angrily telling me I should give them more money. I told him not to call me again and then stopped my payroll deductions. That was over twenty years ago and they still have my money. Their is no way to access your account information online and calling them is a waste of time. They say they send you a quarterly statement and that's it. Good luck getting your money back ever. They just sent me a survey so I thought I'd spread the word. Stay away from them.

I was flat out right lied to! As I talked with the advisor, first, I felt his high pressure tactics pushing me to do something I wasn't comfortable in doing. Second, as I have talked with other people, namely my CPA whom I trust, I discovered the full truth regarding my IRA. Details that my advisor either left out or didn't fully understand. Third, the lie about having to meet with the advisor every 6 months and having to pay 100 dollars was eye opening. I plan on liquidation of all accounts and will have nothing else to do with Ameriprise.

If I could give less I would. Had accounts with them, received a letter at 10:21 that we need to move our accounts in 60 days. We have investment and a checking and savings accounts. This am the closed the checking account no notice and when asked no one has an answer. The check was mailed. So they said.

I met with Chris and he said it was a complementary meeting and we talked for a bit and he said he would need to see me financial papers to see what he could do for me and access my situation. We met again and he went through my personal finances he seemed informed but gave little to know details except that he charged 1.% annually but he could do a special deal for me at 100/month. I got nothing for that 100/month for a year. Upon request to cancel he said I still owed another $300 to cancel. What a con.

Don’t ever work for Advisor name Jaysen Piche in Hawaii. He is the worst of the worst. He has been through 15+ assistants, all of them quitting within a year or less. He doesn’t communicate with anyone, he’s very rude, he sabotages your work and reputation and he’s very unprofessional. The company is keeping him because he makes alot of money for them. Never work for him

We have donate… wait paid $100 per month for some service that I don’t believe we have ever seen. I asked for a return of the money that we have donated… i mean paid, but I won’t hold my breath. Just like getting any service from them you will die waiting. Blumark and Ameriprise are bottom of the barrel for service… unless you have a few million invested with them. VETERANS AND FIRST RESPONDERS STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

When liquidating my investments, the Ameriprise Financial advisors withheld taxes without my consent and falsely claimed I was a foreign citizen. (Yes I most certainly am a US Citizen)

Horrible to deal with. A former advisor with Ameriprise left the company and my account was totally forgotten other than an auto-mail of monthly statements. Trying to get help took over two months of phone calls & pleas. A new replacement rep was SUPPOSED to have been my new advisor, but I never was given her name and she never made any contact - not even a polite letter of introduction. ALSO-Amerprise did not make RMD payments on the account, so that creates a tax problem. I would never recommend this firm.

if I could give them a zero star, I would, but one is the lowest so here goes. My father passed away a few months ago, and had a modest sized investment with Ameriprise in Honolulu. My mother was the beneficiary and she decided she would like to cash my Dads money out. So I took my frail 81year old mother who walks with a walker and has shortness of breath, down to the Ameriprise office at 1585 Kapiolani Blvd and spent two hours filling out the required forms and providing them with bank account info so the money could be directly deposited. After a two week wait, we find out that “something happened” and “we don’t know why” but the money was reversed and taken back by Ameriprise. No explanation given, no phone calls. No emails. So where is the money??? No one seems to know or have answer. Not surprisingly, Ameriprise is keen to take your money but not so much to give it back. This is the last company id ever trust with my money and would never do buisness with such a bunch of dishonest investment brokers.

Company web site is terrible. There are inconsistencies as well as outright wrong or conflicting info. They send out information that totally rebukes other information they have, Extremely unorgnized
