Embarrassingly Bad Experience

I’ve had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with Edward Jones (Santa Rosa, CA), specifically working with Financial Advisor Justin C. Pigeon and his office.

The funds in question were inherited following my father’s death, which makes this situation all the more difficult and upsetting. What should have been handled with care, professionalism, and efficiency has instead become a prolonged and stressful process stretching out over months.

I live and work in the UK, and it has become clear that the office has a very limited understanding of how international banking operates. A straightforward international wire transfer has turned into a drawn-out ordeal, with repeated delays, unclear communication, and no apparent sense of urgency to conclude things.

Though they are nice people, I find it very concerning there is a serious lack of basic operational competence. Rather than completing a simple transfer, I have been sent physical documents by post to sign—untracked—which take weeks to arrive (if they arrive at all). This has significantly delayed access to funds and added unnecessary uncertainty to an already difficult time.

The process is now stretching beyond six months, which is completely unacceptable. It does not inspire confidence in their ability to manage even relatively standard financial matters, particularly where international clients are concerned.

Given that my parents paid for these services, this experience has been especially disappointing. I would strongly caution others—particularly those based outside the U.S.—to think carefully before relying on this office for financial advising or fund management.

A deeply frustrating experience at a time when better support should have been a given.

Good Early Support, but Unable to Recommend Due to Communication Approach

I worked with Kevin Neaves for several years and initially had a positive experience. He provided guidance that I found helpful and appeared to act in my best interest.

However, during a recent discussion regarding a potential conflict of interest related to a 401(k) rollover, the interaction shifted in a way that gave me pause. After initially agreeing to move forward with the rollover, I revisited the decision a couple of months later following a job change and relocation. With these changes, I wanted to better understand potential conflicts of interest before proceeding. His response to this felt defensive and included remarks that I perceived as dismissive of my inquiry. This made it difficult to have a constructive, open dialogue around an important financial decision.

I take responsibility for how I phrased my question and recognize it could have been more precise. That said, I believe clients should be able to ask questions about conflicts of interest and receive clear, professional, and respectful responses.

Because of this experience, I no longer feel confident recommending his services. Open, transparent communication is essential in an advisory relationship, and this interaction did not meet that standard for me.

I do appreciate the support Kevin provided earlier in our engagement. Since then, I have transitioned to a different advisor who better aligns with my preference for collaborative and transparent discussions when making financial decisions.

Why can't the Legal Affairs Dept commit…

Why can't the Legal Affairs Dept commit to getting their act together!!? I am waiting to get a representative from EJ to sign a friggin' Pacific Life QDRO!! My lawyer has called several times and all she's told is that the legal eagles at EJ "are working on it". A signature, Dudes!!! Don't you know how to write your name??! You got into investing because you're sufficiently capable of counting to 20, but were never able to write your name. Poor company

Go elsewhere - this firm is not trustworthy at any branch

I recently transferred my ~$145,000 brokerage account out of Edward Jones, and the experience left me extremely disappointed, both in terms of transparency and how the transfer was handled.

While working with Edward Jones, I was told my portfolio performed well (around 14% in one year), but it was never clearly communicated how much I was actually paying in total fees. Between the advisory fee and the expense ratios of the funds I was placed in, I later realized I was paying thousands of dollars per year. These costs were not presented in a clear, all-in manner, which made it difficult to understand the true impact on my returns.

The most concerning part of my experience was during the transfer process. I was told that I would incur taxes and commissions on each position simply for transferring my account. When I asked for this information to be provided to me in writing, that claim was not substantiated.

In reality, my transfer was completed almost entirely in-kind. Only one minor position was sold, resulting in approximately $50 in gains (roughly $15 in taxes), and no per-stock commissions were charged.

Being given inaccurate or unclear information during this process created unnecessary stress and felt highly misleading. The tone and approach I experienced during the transfer were also unprofessional and made an already stressful situation worse.

After completing the transfer, everything arrived intact, and it became very clear how much I had been overpaying in fees relative to the value I was receiving.

My advice to anyone considering Edward Jones is to ask for a full breakdown of ALL fees — not just the advisory fee, but also the internal expense ratios of the funds being recommended. It is also important to understand why specific investments are being selected and how those recommendations are compensated.

Transparency in financial services is critical, and unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

I’m relieved to have moved my account and now have full visibility and control over my investments.

Estate Personal Rep Dealing with Edward Jones

Please don’t use Edward Jones!

I don’t have an account with Edward Jones, but my parent did. They only had one because they inherited the funds and it must have seemed impossible to get it out of there because her I am, now processing their passing and it’s a nightmare.

Both my parents have passed away and I’m dealing with getting the funds out of Edward Jones. They are slow, don’t know what they are doing and have ridiculous approval processes and fees. It will take your family members month to process anything with them.

Don’t use them so you family members never have to be put through what we are dealing with.

Regret moving investments

The employee seemed to know her funds, which is why I am giving one star, besides that, I never had issues with Fidelity and moving everything aside from my 401k, has been nothing but a mountain of paperwork, denied transfers and continuous phone calls to both institutions, which has shown that the issue was on Edward Jones' end. Now everything is supposed to be completed, aside some residuals. However, when I try to log into the app or website, it either says account has been closed or User ID not recognized. What a circus. I should have stayed with Fidelity.

Offer Rescinded After Background Clearance and Start Date

I accepted an offer for the Field Supervision Officer II position with Edward Jones. I completed all required pre-employment steps, including submitting background information, and received written confirmation that all contingencies were satisfied. I was also provided onboarding materials and a confirmed start date.

Based on these confirmations, I made professional decisions in reliance on the offer, including declining other job opportunities. Shortly thereafter, I received a phone call from a representative I had never spoken with before informing me that the firm would not be moving forward with my employment. The only explanation provided was that it was a “business decision.” No further clarification was given regarding the reason for the rescission, and my attempts to seek more information from HR were met with minimal response.

This sequence of events caused significant professional and personal disruption. Candidates rely on written confirmations and onboarding communication to make important career and life decisions. The lack of transparency and communication during this process created undue stress and left me without a clear understanding of the reason behind the withdrawal.

While I understand that employment offers can be rescinded, the timing and handling of this situation represents a severe failure in candidate experience and professional communication. I am documenting this complaint to raise awareness of the process gap and encourage Edward Jones to ensure that candidates who have cleared contingencies and received start-date confirmation are treated with the respect, clarity, and transparency that any professional deserves.

I hope this feedback prompts review and improvement of internal hiring practices, especially regarding communication and handling of confirmed offers.

Dealing with Sharon Covey in Okeechobee…

Dealing with Sharon Covey in Okeechobee Florida has left a bad taste in my mouth. Twice we has gone to "borrow monies" from our investment. Twice she made a mistake on paper work and funds have not made it to our bank on time. Twice she has put us in financial danger by not transferring the funds. I am not happy with the service for this company. I'm ready to take our investments somewhere else. 01-30-2026

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.
This place is just awful.
I lost my job and needed a place to invest my money for some possible growth. BIG MISTAKE. They looooooooooooved me at first. I've read that's because they make their most money from new account signings. They then lost all interest in me. All interest. When my (high unprofessional financial advisor) would call and review my portfolio, it was always, "You are doing very, very well... very well..." and we would log into the account... and there was MAYBE $1,000 growth there. That was "very, very well". Lastly, do not take money out for financial hardship. They will insult and degrade you for it. I actually had to complain to the home office for their treatment towards me.
We finally closed our account permanently for January 2026.
GO ELSEWHERE!

Confiscatory Fees Hidden from you

I have been with EJ for over 22 years. Up until 2017 their fees were seemingly inline with other companies and also reasonable in their pricing. In 2017 they implemented several programs that you were forced into and instead of annual fees -these programs became monthly fees and were far beyond unreasonable. I had two accounts for me and two for my spouse. Each account showed the same pattern of fees consuming up to 60% of my monthly growth (month to month). In spite of this, their website showed gains of 12-14%. The gains or the fees were not reconcilable in their plethora of statements you get. When I assembled 5 years of data on this -EJ could not explain the variance between their Return % and what I had come up with. I gave my wonderful friend and partner at EJ this information and asked for a response in 5 days. I got none. I proceeded to rollover all my EJ assets to my former employer company plan (new accounts etc) and that began a very long and tedious process with EJ blocking and holding to extract their monthly fees when possible. I dont trust their statements, their advice or their tools to provide me with anything accurate. I dont think taking 65-80% of my monthly growth is in any way justifiable.

Hershal Stone and Edward Jones has lost…

Hershal Stone and Edward Jones has lost 67 % of my life savings. They are thieves and do not follow instructions. I started with 430000 and after 5 years they lost down to 190000. I believe this company is corrupt. When I write and tell my story I get rude mean letters from Edward Jones. Edward Jones has ruined my life. I wake up every day angry that Hershal Stone is making money by losing my life savings. He knows he has me trapped because to make any moves to leave Edwards will cause me to realize losing everything.

HIDDEN FEES, DISHONEST ADVISORS

With Edward Jones for 4 years in West Dundee, IL. Hidden fees only shown to me after leaving for Charles Schwab, who charges me a flat .8 with total transparency. Ed Jones was 1.5. My dishonest advisor once told me he didn't need me. I took his advice. Happy as can be with Schwab. 3 people on my team, including CFP, another with MBA at no extra charge
