Perfect Remote Business Opportunity While Traveling

I was looking for a flexible remote business I could run while traveling, and WOI Franchise turned out to be exactly what I needed. As a young woman wanting more freedom and independence, I liked that everything is online, the startup cost is affordable, and they provide training, email templates, and support to help you get started.

Before joining, I read both the good and bad reviews. Honestly, I think some people expect a business to succeed automatically without putting in the effort. bad experience. bad investment.

I spent 5 months in this franchise in the Medway area, and my experience was terrible. I was unable to recover my investment. This franchise is ideal for someone who already knows how to do B2B cold sales, not for just anyone.
Without knowing how to do cold sales or having the personality and vocation for this kind of work, I joined because of the 50-50 system. Unfortunately, I was unable to find a salesperson. Apparently, salespeople who specialize in this type of sales do not trust this company; they do not see selling low-cost advertising spots in a directory as a good business opportunity, and honestly, I don’t blame them.
To be honest, the company’s website looks outdated and old-fashioned. Also, why would a business pay for advertising in a city directory when they can promote themselves on Google Maps for free?
The support they provide is poor. It is the kind of support whose only objective is to turn you into a B2B salesperson, when in reality, this type of sales requires specific training and a certain personality.
When I was trying to exist 2 months ago, they offered me a sales girl who, to me, was a scam to keep me paying a little longer the monthly fees. Supposedly, according to them, this girl had a lot of sales experience and had helped other directories to succeed. However, with me, in over a month, she didn't even bother to register on the CRM.
When you want to leave, they offer you the option to rent out or sell the business, but clearly, neither option is easy, and both take a long time. Meanwhile, you still have to pay $150 every month.
So overall, this is a bad business unless you already have experience with cold sales or you are lucky enough to find a sales agent. This is definitely not a business for everyone.

To help support you, we provided alternative outreach methods including email marketing guidance, templates, training materials, access to our Members Area, and ongoing support via email, calls and Zoom meetings with our franchise trainer.

You mention that this business is only suitable for people with B2B sales experience. As explained before joining, local business outreach and sales are a core part of the franchise model. Like many advertising and marketing businesses, success depends heavily on communication, networking, consistency and the effort of the individual operating the area.

Regarding your comments about finding a salesperson, a franchisee has the opportunity to use a 50/50 system to provide flexibility for franchisees who may prefer to work with sales agents rather than conduct outreach themselves. However, as with any business, finding and managing suitable salespeople is ultimately the responsibility of the franchise owner.

We would also like to note that during your time with the franchise, we received a complaint regarding inappropriate language used during communication with an individual you were discussing a potential sales role with. We also received copies of email communications containing inappropriate language during that exchange. Professional communication is something we take seriously.

You also mentioned concerns about the business model itself and the value of directory advertising. While we respect your opinion, many of our franchisees continue to successfully generate revenue by helping local businesses improve their online visibility through directory exposure, SEO benefits and digital advertising opportunities alongside platforms such as Google Business Profiles and social media. These services are designed to complement existing online presence, not replace it.

Regarding support, we do not agree with the statement that support was poor. Throughout your time with the franchise, you had access to email templates, marketing guidance, training materials, outreach strategies, calls, Zoom meetings and direct support from our franchise trainer.
However, you never requested or arranged a Zoom meeting with the trainer during your time with us. In addition, our technical support team remained in close communication regarding your requests and also assisted you with additional matters when required.

Support and training can only be effective if they are actively used and implemented. While we always do our best to support franchisees, we cannot force individuals to request support meetings, use the available training resources or apply the tools and strategies provided.

You also mention the process of exiting the franchise. As with most businesses, selling or renting a business is never guaranteed to happen immediately and depends on market conditions, buyer interest and the effort put into the process. The ongoing monthly fee covers continued platform hosting, technical support, maintenance and operational services while the business remains active.

We appreciate that every business opportunity is experienced differently by each individual, and we genuinely wish you success in your future ventures.

First of all this is not me calling out…

First of all this is not me calling out What’s On In because I didn’t succeed. It never started.

I’d looked at this business a few times and was keen to start but didn’t have the funds to buy a master franchise.

I recently gained funding (cash flow not credit) of £7500 which would be ample to hit the ground running.

Yesterday I agreed to enter into an agreement for a master franchise costing £1695. Stephen told me that there were only 5 postcodes left and would email me a list of postcodes. He sent the following list ‘HX BB ???????’ literally. My scepticism was aroused so I contacted the compliance officer for a list which was the same as above.

The website states that a master franchise has 5 postcodes left code areas but I was told that the other 3 would come later. I hadn’t been given any choices, no official paperwork, written agreement, just £1695 lighter.

I have since found out that one of the postcodes I would have been keen to acquire is actually available.

I would not trust this franchise at all. The sales process resembles that of a used car salesman, get in now or you’ll miss out.

He seems to just want the money and the monthly management fees. The initial onboarding was an email informing me that 2 postcodes had been chosen. I was never given a list to choose from. On the company website there is no indication of the postcodes either available or already taken (no transparency). Who’s to say any of them are taken, who knows. And as I’ve found from earlier reviews, you are not allowed to communicate with other franchises (transparency) and on paying the fees there is no written agreement, most professional franchises have a written agreement to protect both parties and spell out any legal contractual stuff. None of this, just an email stating welcome on board.

The only good part is I’ve got my money back.

Stay away if you ask me. I won’t be sending any further just read all the other reviews and trust your gut. If I can’t speak to other franchise, how do you know they exist. Most franchises offer testimonials of other franchises and allow you to contact them.

Two postcode areas were initially allocated and agreed with you, while the remaining three areas were to be selected by yourself based on current availability, as there are now limited postcode areas remaining across the UK network.

This initial onboarding process was completed within 24 hours and in line with our normal onboarding procedure.

The WOI Agreement is normally issued once all final franchise areas have been confirmed and allocated. As the final three postcode areas had not yet been selected at that stage, the agreement had therefore not yet been issued.

We would also like to note that your refund request was processed promptly and your payment was returned in full.

“What’s On In” has now been operating for over 8 years across multiple countries, with hundreds of websites and franchise partners worldwide. We continue to grow internationally and were also named finalists in the Global Franchise Awards 2026.

A very good experience, and I’m glad I took the step to get started.

I was looking for an online business I could run from home after dealing with health issues that meant I couldn’t return to work. That’s when I came across the WOI Franchise — and I got started straight away.
From the very beginning, everything felt structured and straightforward to understand. The start-up cost is low, everything is clearly laid out, and there’s no pressure on when you work or how much time you commit, which suited my situation perfectly.
The support has been excellent. I receive regular training emails, have access to clear online training modules, and have had Zoom sessions with a lovely trainer who is always there if I need help. The technical support team is also fantastic — always responsive and often going above and beyond what I ask for.
At the start, I needed more guidance (as anyone would when learning something new), and I never felt alone. There were ready-made email templates, calling scripts, and social media guides to help me take those first steps with confidence.
That said, it’s important to understand that while everything is prepared for you, you still need to take action. This is a real business — you need to be consistent, disciplined, and proactive. If you put the effort in, the system is there to support you and help you succeed.

Why I’m glad I took this franchise

They need to buck up or be stopped

What's on in is a con and should be prevented from being a franchise
This review is based entirely on my personal experience as a franchisee, and I am posting it publicly because I believe potential investors deserve full transparency.

Serious Concerns From Day One

I joined this franchise expecting genuine training, support and a workable business system. What I actually received was extremely concerning.

Training That Barely Exists

Training consists of one short weekly email with very basic advice like "post in Facebook groups". That is genuinely the extent of the training you get.
There are no webinars, no workshops, no business resources, no strategic guidance and no community support of any kind.
There is absolutely nothing that resembles a proper franchise training program.

Support Is Only Technical - And Nothing More

Support only deals with technical errors. For example, if they upload a photo that is supposedly from your territory but it turns out to be from another country, you have to email them to remove it. That is the only type of support that exists.
There is no mentoring, no planning, no brainstorming and no actual business support. The support email is faceless, nameless and gives no proactive help at all.

You Are Blocked From Contacting Other Franchisees

This was one of the biggest red flags in my experience.
You are not allowed to know who the other franchisees are.
You are not allowed to know which territories are active.
You are told this is to prevent franchisees from finding each other.
I was informed that I could only contact one person, who also happens to be one of their trainers.
In any credible franchise, collaboration is encouraged. Here, it is completely shut down. This isolation felt extremely suspicious.

Paid Advertising Service That Promised Results But Delivered Nothing

They sell an additional service costing hundreds of pounds and claim their sales team will secure advertisers for your area and that you will make your money back. In my experience, this did not happen.
Months and months later, not a single advertiser was delivered, not even at the lowest price point.
I repeatedly requested updates and heard nothing back.
Despite the complete lack of results, they continued taking the monthly franchise fee and the extra money for the sales service.

Even Independent Salespeople Say There Is Nothing To Sell

When I attempted to hire my own salesperson, they declined because the platform has no story, no statistics, nothing measurable and nothing compelling for advertisers.
If professional salespeople cannot sell space on the site, how are franchisees expected to?

The Website Is Outdated And Unattractive

The website is slow, outdated and looks unprofessional. Businesses showed no interest because there is nothing unique or useful being offered. There is no value proposition that would justify advertising with the platform.

Legal And Financial Concerns

Based on my experience, the following issues raise serious questions:

Services sold as part of the franchise package are not delivered

The additional paid sales service does not produce the results that are promised

Franchisees are deliberately prevented from contacting each other

No training, mentoring or meaningful support is provided

Support exists only for small technical errors

Extra fees are collected without any visible return
These patterns could indicate misrepresentation or failure to deliver contracted services. Potential franchisees should seek independent legal advice before investing any money.

Conclusion

In my experience, this franchise does not deliver value and presents multiple red flags that cannot be ignored. I have written this review because I want a response, and I believe prospective franchisees deserve to hear experiences like mine before making a financial commitment. And if you have already parted with money for this franchise, good luck getting your money back. They will literally go dark.

I’ve been making steady progress over the last three months and now fully grasp the proven system they’ve created. This is the second franchise I’ve joined, and I have to compliment the WOI team on their backend training and support — everything is clear, concise, and easy to follow.
The support team are, without doubt, at the top of their game 24/7. I’ve seen some of the bad reviews and honestly ask myself — how can a global franchise that’s been operating for seven years, while keeping such a low-cost start for a franchise at this scale, be a SCAM? I really can’t imagine what kind of scam this could be when you pay a fixed, low entry fee that’s affordable for anyone (they even offer discounts!), plus a fixed monthly fee. You get online support, training modules, regular training emails, and live Zoom sessions — everything you need to succeed.
This franchise ticks all the right boxes: home-based, growing market, online, excellent ROI, and a true turnkey system. I’ve taken on two areas and will be stepping up to a third soon.
I have no complaints — if you’re seriously looking for an additional income, you’ll find this very rewarding.

Part time or full time franchise

I took on the franchise with help from my sister to help cover household bills. What began as a part-time venture quickly grew into a full-time opportunity, and I’ve genuinely enjoyed both the work-from-home lifestyle and the income potential.
I chose the Fast Track package, which saved me money and helped me get started quickly. The return on investment is clear and achievable- you just need to put in the effort. The support team and detailed training emails are excellent and kept me on track throughout. Even if you think you already know what to do, there’s a lot to learn from the training materials provided. I have opted also for zoom training, which is very helpful and full with these a-ha moments.
The company has been franchising for over seven years and clearly knows what it’s doing. There are plenty of satisfied franchisees (and of course, as with anything, a few who like to complain). Overall, it’s a solid and rewarding business model for anyone looking to be part of the growing online advertising market.

A Great Opportunity with Ongoing Support

I was made redundant 7 months ago and came across this franchise through an online platform. At 58, I'm not particularly tech-savvy and was initially concerned, but I was reassured that this wouldn’t be an issue — and it truly hasn’t been. The onboarding and training process was straightforward, clear, and easy to follow, which made getting started stress-free. My daughter is now helping with some email marketing to boost sales, which has been a great addition. The support and advice I’ve received and continue to receive has been excellent. I really have no complaints and would happily recommend this franchise to anyone looking for a home-based business opportunity.

It’s been really great experience so far

It's been a really great (and profitable) experience so far. The learning curve was pretty steep at first,
but I've had awesome support along the way. Colin, Jacquie, and the whole support team have been
super helpful and patient with all my questions. Honestly, there's nothing like getting a "yes" from
an advertiser and seeing the money hit your account just a few hours later -such a good feeling!
What really stood out to me was how affordable it was to get started. For such a low entry cost,
you're basically handed a business that's ready to go from day one. Everything's set up for you-you
just have to jump in and run with it.

A Farcical Wizard of Oz Experience – Avoid!!!

Avoid this franchise at all costs.

I have a disability and wanted something I could do from home.

In my experience, it was nothing like the “dream business opportunity” they sell you. I lost money, time, and energy, and was left feeling completely misled.
What you actually get is an outdated website, worthless training modules, and “support” that vanishes once they have your money. My site had almost zero engagement, an extremely high bounce rate and potential clients didn’t trust it. Every attempt I made to get help with technical issues was ignored or brushed off.
The so-called training was a joke – excuses after the first session (“no wifi,” “illness,” etc.) and nothing useful delivered. The sales manager’s replies were curt and dismissive, while the compliance woman sent aggressive messages about payments being “late,” even when they were due that very day. She never supplied the receipts I asked for and ignored any questions “I” asked. She shared the same phone number as the useless sales manager, red flag! At times, I felt like I was dealing with a one-person show wearing many masks – a farcical Wizard of Oz performance – rather than a legitimate franchise team. It was unprofessional and downright unpleasant to deal with.
The much-touted “Global Franchise Award” is irrelevant to their business as it falls under a children's category, not appropriate at all ** Update** - they have removed the award since my review but I have proof. The positive reviews online raised serious red flags – many come from accounts with only one review, and the language looks suspiciously similar. For every bad review, five glowing ones suddenly appear. Readers should look closely and draw their own conclusions.
The reality is a lonely, demoralising experience where most people, I suspect, simply give up - £1000's lighter. In my opinion, this franchise isn’t designed to help people succeed – it thrives on upselling pointless ideas and recycling the same underperforming websites to unsuspecting newcomers, all while extracting more money from existing franchisees and keeping them trapped in a drawn-out sales process. Based on my experience, I strongly advise you to stay well clear.

Scammers and witches

Trust me, it's a scam. You pay for the franchise, and the monthly management fees only to receive emails and emails of sales information. No one talks to you or guides you through the process of set up, no one follows up to check how the business is going but you have to ensure you have enough in the account to pay for your next month of management fees. If you are reading this latest review please save your pennies for something else. I have been with them for almost a year, I first took on a master franchise employed sales staff until I got to a point where I exhausted with making calls and not getting any business from the tradesmen as they make it sound. I was given an option to take on one website, so I thought I could manage that one better, only to realise I was in the same cycle of making calls, no business, recieving more sales emails asking me to do this that and the other, who ever is behind this is a witch, they know it doesn't work but they keep hammering you with more information to make it look professional and keep you trapped into thinking and believing that you are not doing enough. Until you come to a point where you are ready to give up, then they corn you to sell/rent it out, they get you someone ( who I believe is one of them scammers) he plays you around while they take your money, they make you believe they are going to buy or rent from you, and as you start to closethe deal, they dissappear or give a far fetched reason and never to be traced again, bearing in mind you have already paid the agreement fees, the management fees and all that. And that woman Sue from compliance who is always begging for payments but never wants to respond to any questions, (she answers a question by asking you a question so she doesn't get committed to anything). This time I caught them red handed, because they have lied to me twice, I have confronted Steve who is always away somewhere abroad, and all he is are now promising is new a sales team again to trap me in to paying more fees and not having the business, I am not falling for it, hence this honest review, I have had enough, I want to save someone else from falling in the trap, Everything happens for a reason, I can't just waste time to write such a long review for nothing. They have played their game well and they know what they are doing. Please don't play along. SAVE YOURSELF THE DRAMA. It's a cycle of creative scammers, witches and wicked people. Research and read reviews before committing to them.

The old saying "just like it says on the tin" is correct, we needed a low cost home based business and spent a long time months looking for an opportunity that suited. A friend of a friend recommended this to us. Been a great journey to date, be prepared to listen and be patient, it takes time to build. They supply everything needed to be successful. Very happy with our choice
