Very grateful to Sebastian and his companion for the kindness and grace in helping our beloved cat Rocky leave us peacefully and with dignity. It made the hardest decision of our lives the right one.
Awful experience
Awful experience.
Had a home visit that was surreal.
Almost £200 to be told to take the cat to the vet. I strongly doubt the vet that came out was a qualified one…the very obvious things she said it’s unbelievable. She sounded so not self confident, contradicting herself quite a lot. Told me if I didn’t take the cat to their emergency clinic I would have had to put her down.
Turns out it was a bunch of lies.
Avoid at all costs.
I was there a while ago at night
I was there a while ago at night. My cat wasn't feeling well. He was refusing to eat or drink. I'm not a doctor, so I can't say what's going on. Unfortunately, they said they saw no reason to worry, that everything was fine, and no one even examined the cat thoroughly! The cat had huge scars under its neck where the infection had set in. I don't recommend it! to take the money first but they didn't even look carefully .
The worst experience - never again.
I called out Veteris to euthananse my dog. Obviously it was a traumatic experience, but it was made ten times more unbearable by the attending vet. Not only was he cold to the point opf callous, demanding upfront payment before putting our little one to sleep, but his whole manner was very strange and off to the point I wondered if he had a personality disorder.
I've waited several months to post this review and let my emotions settle, but even now I'm horrified that someone like that is in the profession he is, coming into peoples homes during heartbreaking final moments.
I will never trust them again.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
It has taken me some months to write this review, as I was awaiting the outcome of the complaints and mediation process I entered into after a botched euthanasia for one of my rescued dogs. Based on my experience, I could never recommend this outfit.
Last year, I made the painful decision to have my beautiful lurcher put to sleep. From the outset the attending vet showed himself to be completely lacking in the sensitivity required at times such as this.
The vet, TH, turned up late with a colleague, did not introduce her, and left me to ask who she was (a trainee, as she explained). The website had promised one-to-one care and I had been expecting a single vet, as is usual in these situations; I had neither been asked for, nor given, permission for "shadowing" to take place. I was thus shocked to find myself having to deal with two complete strangers, rather than one, at a moment of utmost vulnerability for myself and my dog. I should add that in my own decades-long experience in rescue and euthanasia, I have never ONCE been asked to have a shadowing vet present - it is far from routine. At the very least, any client must be asked for permission beforehand. I was not given that courtesy.
My lurcher had always adored people, but she was terrified of TH, who seemed ignorant of the fact that under such circumstances, a vet's behaviour should be gentle and unthreatening. When I made TH aware that she was afraid of him, he completely ignored me and started to prepare the sedative. Because she was so distressed, my dog fought the sedative after it had been administered; this appeared to perplex TH, who kept poking her roughly around the eyes and face to ascertain her level of sedation, saying he didn't understand why it wasn't working. I repeated that she was frightened of him, but again he ignored me.
I am not a vet, but after decades of rescuing animals I know that a frightened animal will fight a sedative. The vet should have stepped back and waited. His colleague seemed to have a better instinct for what was required, kneeling down beside my dog for a moment to stroke her gently. While this should have been the attending vet's role and NOT hers as the shadowing vet, her intervention did highlight how unfit her colleague was to be conducting this kind of procedure.
As I subsequently learned from the Veteris website, TH is a veterinarian with only one year's experience. In my opinion, he was not nearly experienced enough at the time of attending my home to be carrying out euthanasia, much less guiding a shadowing vet.
For the best part of the proceedings, my dog and I were sitting at the vets' feet, while they towered over us. TH made no effort to connect with my dog, nor to put us at ease; he talked loudly throughout, focussed more on guiding his colleague through the intricacies of drug ratios to body weight than concentrating on client and patient. Indeed, he entirely ignored my two attempts at questions, while showing his colleague an "excellent" veterinary kit, opening the box and demonstrating to her the implements it contained, while I knelt with my dog waiting for him to finish his monologue.
In the end, the job was done, leaving me not with the memory of a calm and peaceful ending, as the Veteris website had promised, but of a ghastly last half-hour to an otherwise beautiful life. She deserved better and so did I. And just to illustrate how completely out of touch TH was, his parting words to me were "Have a nice day!"
In their initial response to my subsequent complaint to Veteris, one of the senior staff members admitted to failings on their part, and to having let me down. Having apologised, however, they then back-pedalled, and attributed the deficits of TH's approach to cultural difference, and later, that the problems were due to my character being incompatible with his. Using cultural background in an attempt to divert accountability (as though sensitivity and compassion were not common to all cultures), as well as trying to insinuate fault on my part, only serves in my view to underscore the utter cynicism and shamelessness of their company culture.
Even after acknowledging failings, Veteris had me go through a lengthy complaint process, forcing me to relive the trauma of the euthanasia, the terror of my dog's last moments and the vet's rough handling. I might add that the senior practice manager encouraged me to pursue the external mediation process, while presumably knowing full well that this would be futile, as indeed it turned out to be. The mediator informed me that Veteris had "declined" to refund me for their botched service, but that they had sent out senior staff to monitor TH on his rounds and had made changes to their procedures - proof, if any were needed, that they were completely at fault.
SHAME ON YOU, VETERIS.
Ellie from Veteris Vets came to…
Ellie from Veteris Vets came to euthanise my dog Russell, on Christmas Eve. She struck the perfect balance between compassion and professionalism, guiding us through the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make. She treated Russell with such dignity and kindness, and her gentle manner made an unbearable situation just about bearable. I will always be grateful for the care and respect Ellie showed us.
Thank you

Extortionate prices for elderly, disabled people
On Sunday December 7th i had to get an uber to take myself & tiny 1.5kg dog to Veteris as she jumped from our sofa & was clearly in pain. When i arrived a young vet asked what happened, she then said she would take mydog Daisy Mae for an x ray. She came back not even 5 minutes later with( she said) was Daisys xray that was a photo on a mobile phone! I don't even know if it was hers, was then told she would need to have a fracture repair, but the surgeon wouldn't be available til Monday. She then immediately asked me for an incredible £3,300 for consultation & xray, i paid to free my baby from pain, but as an elderly & disabled lady it was all the money i had. They are now asking me to pay £1,250 on January 14th & again on February 14th, making a total of £5,800, now they want more! On bringing her home, her fracture repair was covered with a small dressing & no collar that was previously suggested. Took her to my own vet( as was advised) one week later to have sutures removed, i watched as my vet removed the dressing, only to discover that there were no sutures to remove. Also on the paperwork that was given to me to bring home, it stated the repair fracture was done on her Right Leg, when it was in fact her Left Leg. Iv'e had no final invoice, no clinical reports, no xrays & no other communication. These people are not caring, its just about money. They took this amount from myself & husband ( 90 & disabled) to help our beloved little girl which left us with nothing for food & no way to keep warm. DO NOT USE VETERIS.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding In-Home Veterinary Care
We recently received truly exceptional in-home veterinary care, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the amazing team who supported us every step of the way.
Ellie, our vet, was absolutely wonderful. Her calm, caring approach instantly put our pet at ease, and her expertise was clear in every moment she spent with us. Having such compassionate, high-quality care right in our own home made the entire experience stress-free and comforting.
Jessica provided fantastic support over the phone — patient, reassuring, and incredibly helpful. She made sure we had all the information we needed and coordinated everything smoothly, which brought us so much peace of mind.
And a special thank-you to triage nurse Vicky, who checked on us day after day. Her dedication and kindness meant the world. Knowing she was there to follow up, answer questions, and ensure our pet was progressing well gave us an enormous sense of support.
On top of all this, their services were very reasonably priced for the level of care, time, and attention we received. It truly felt like exceptional value.
This team went above and beyond for us. Their professionalism, warmth, and genuine care exceeded every expectation. We wholeheartedly recommend their services to anyone looking for exceptional, compassionate veterinary care at home.
Great vet, great experience
Everything went as well as can be expected under the circumstances.
From finding the company online (on a Saturday evening), ringing them and arranging everything, to having the vet (Sebastian) show up and walk us through the process of putting our dog down, everything went great.
We didn't feel rushed, everyone was very clear with us about what the process would be like, and Sebastian checked with us every step that we were making properly informed consent. He was also very careful to make sure we had all the time we needed to say goodbye. Also was very accommodating, ensuring we could be with him at the end, squeezing into a crowded space etc.
In the end our dog went peacefully, didn't seem to feel anything at all.
Price was slightly less than what we were roughly quoted on the phone too.
Beware ! Underperformance and overcharge
Called this company to send a veterinary with the specific task to change the bandages of my dog, since the ones we had from last night had moved and she was uncomfortable. I am not sure the person was a qualified vet. In fact I’m wondering how this company is still operating when they don’t even list prices online, and have 40% of very negative reviews!!! He changed her bandages from my sofa ( unhygienic! I offered to bring a clean towel and have the dog on my table, he ignored me ), I kept saying the bandages were too tight but he said he knew what he was doing, and she is unable to move since he left. Dog looked very uncomfortable as he finished but he said he was happy with it… it gets worse: He wanted to charge me 310 pounds! 160 pounds for showing up. 40 for checking her vitals ( he did not do that at all, but it was also unnecessary as the dog is fit, just need fresh bandages ) he took out an estetoscópio but didn’t use or look at my dog’s eyes, ears, pressure, etc. then wanted 80 pounds for bandages ( the dog is a 6 kilos puppy) and 20 pounds for a dab of honey ( antiseptic). Never again. I paid him half and will dispute the rest. My mother said that he was ‘ listening’ to her heart, but had nothing in his own ears. I have photos of her before and after. What a disgrace -
Prompt and very good experience
I used Veteris as referred by my own vet’s out of hours service after my dog ate a large amount of chocolate. I found the phone consultation clear and helpful. I was sent to Veteris at Clapham on a Friday evening and was seen immediately by Samuela who listened to us and quickly built a rapport with my scared dog. Samuela gave clear and calm explanations and quickly administered treatment and explained the post- vet treatments required to keep him well. Very pleased with her compassionate and prompt care.
Vile Vets
They are vile. There are no words for their incompetence and profligacy. My dog is still alive 18 months after his awful experience with them and their insistence on his death. They extorted £7,000 from us for 48 hours of sedating a dog that was a nuisance to them. This is 29 to 31 May 2024. This platform doesn not allow commemts older than a year.
Compassionate and Loving during the passing of our beloved Dog
Sadly, our elderly staffie began having seizures with a fatal one happening late at night. Upon advice from our regular vet, who use Veteris as an out of hours service. He gave us instructions of what to do, should she have another one outside of his opening hours. So, we followed his advice and Veteris sent a vet called Finlay to our home who came in the early hours of the morning and the minute he walked through the door, he knew exactly what to do, talking us through every step with such compassion, not just for our doggie but for us too.
Thank you Finlay! You are a wonderful human being and thank you for being with us during such a sad experience.
We can’t thank you enough for being there as our dog passed away
DO NOT USE VETERIS
I was very clear on the phone to Veteris as to what I needed from a home visit - to take bloods to get medical information for our aged cat, to work out how to help his Diarrhea to enable meds to be prescribed - without the trauma of taking him out of his safe home environment. I was told that Yes absolutely Veteris do all blood tests in the home. THEY DO NOT - and i was made to pay £161 only to be told by the visiting "vet" to take my 18 year old cat to my local vet... Veteris have not responded at all - just take money for lying. And were given ample time to respond to my complaint during the day.
Very disappointing experience
Very disappointing experience. I’m genuinely questioning whether the person we saw was even a qualified vet. She couldn’t perform the most basic check — taking my cat’s temperature — and blamed it on him "resisting" reasoning the stool was stuck in his butt, which is the most illogical reason as he had loosies . Then she suggested sedation just to draw blood, which seemed completely unnecessary. My cat is normally calm and cooperative, even during injections, but he was so stressed by her handling that he actually ran away — something he’s never done before. We were so concerned for his well-being that we eventually had to ask her to leave. Even our neighbour, whose father was a vet, said it seemed like she had no real experience with cats. It honestly felt like she was more interested in charging us than properly caring for our pet.
Traumatised my cat
Avoid at all costs. This vet traumatised my cat who was forced to sit in tiny cage overnight with no litter box
Kitten’s hospital experience
We took our kitten to hospital on 08.07.25 and again 09.07.25 The vet on both occasions provided a Clear and informative consultation-with space to think about what course of action to follow. Our kitten had to be admitted. On discharge clear information was provided with a follow up telephone call a few days later to check progress. We appreciate the team who were supportive during a stressful time. Thanks also to the calm and helpful administration team.
Traumatic and mishandled end of life care
It’s taken some time for me to write this, as I’m still grieving the loss of my beloved dog, Mitsy, and trying to come to terms with the trauma of her final moments.
I contacted Veteris for a home euthanasia visit on Easter Sunday. Mitsy was suffering from an infected oral melanoma that had spread to her eye. Over the phone, I was assured she would be gently sedated before the final injection — something I had come to expect from past surgical procedures at our local vet, where Mitsy had always been sedated first to keep her calm and pain-free.
But when the attending vet arrived, he attempted to insert an IV without any prior sedation. Mitsy, already weak and unwell, was terrified — trembling and trying to escape.
After two failed IV attempts, I had to intervene and insist on the sedation I had been promised. Only then did he administer it — but the dose given was too low, and Mitsy continued to resist. Two further failed IV attempts followed before a second sedation dose was given, which finally allowed the procedure to continue. The entire process took nearly an hour and was deeply distressing.
During this time, the vet also made inappropriate remarks — including repeatedly suggesting we “get another dog.” Whether meant kindly or not, it was an incredibly insensitive thing to say while we were in tears, saying goodbye to our best friend.
When I submitted a formal complaint, the vet denied making those comments and downplayed what had happened — including the number of IV attempts. No meaningful accountability was taken at all by Veteris
Mitsy deserved a peaceful and respectful goodbye. Instead, her final moments were filled with fear and confusion — and that memory will stay with us forever. I’m sharing this because I don’t want any pet owner to go through what we did. In my view - This company cares more about profits than proper care, and the vet we dealt with lacked the necessary experience and compassion for such a sensitive moment.

It has taken me a long time to feel…
It has taken me a long time to feel ready to write a review here. My Airedale Terrier was referred to Vertis by my vet Snoots. He had somehow hurt his nail and there was some
Bone sticking out so i needed assistance. The vet came to my home. She administered a sedation to my 30kg dog and he didn’t go to sleep. She decided to double his dose and dismissed me when I said he probably doesn’t need double. During the procedure he stoped breathing and again she wasn’t listening to me. Eventually she listened and said oh, oh dear we better wake him up. As he wasn’t waking up she got me to shake him till he did. While he was under she decided to cut all his nails and overcut them so they all bled. I don’t know if this is a lack of experience or what but after paying out over £755.30 and watching a very inexperienced vet treat my dog I would caution anyone who uses their services. This instance occurred on 29 January 2024 according to my bank statement. The app won’t let me post after 12 months but it’s important people know.
I had to use Veteris for the first…
I had to use Veteris for the first time. They was excellent in my case. I called three times, because I was in a panic and cried the last time I called as I was worried sick about my dog Fifi. They was nothing but caring, understanding and welcoming. My dog Fifi had a swelling in her throat that appeared quite suddenly, breathing was not normal, she was gagging and swallowing constantly. I arranged for the vet to come to my home as it is late at night and the hospital is a distance away. She arrived within 45 mins, very welcoming and kind. She believes Fifi had an Allergic reaction she gave her a steroid jab and some anti inflammatory meds. Fifi wasn’t acting like a sick dog and the vet was very sweet with Fifi. She kept me well informed and answered all my questions patiently. The total cost would have only paid for a consultation fee with the other local emergency hospitals. So even though it was an expense, it wasn’t as much as I would have paid elsewhere. Very happy dog parent!
