Our representative, Brandon, was awesome! He walked us through the process, step by step and answered all our questions, and we had a lot of questions! The process was so easy and stress-free! We were so excited that it funded so quickly, so we could start on our home renovations! I would totally recommend Unison to my friends and family!

Partnering with Unison was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I also looked at two competitors and they could not offer the support, the process or the product that Unison did. There really was no competition and my decision was easy. My customer support representative Mary Beth was the best and I loved working with her. I highly recommend Unison as a partner.

I think so far it’s been fairly simple. If you are not looking to refinance or add more payments to you budget and you have equity this my be for you. For me this was easy I have been in my home for awhile and don’t believe it’s going to go up more the it is now. So in the end I will just pay back what I took plus a little more remember they only win if you win the ball is in your court. ONE DOWN FALL YOU GET A TON OF JUNK MAIL BE PREPARED

The process was quite simple and fast. Everyone on their staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. They really helped me get out of credit card debt, and some spare cash for home upgrades.

Awesome experience, everything start to finish was quick and easy. Mary Kate was very informative and kept us updated every step of the way and was quick to answer questions that came up during the process. Highly recommend!

For the biggest part, Unison was very easy to work with. There was the initial agent who quite frankly really was not good, She left us hanging several times and then was not honest about saying she tried to contact us. I found out how to circumvent her so no biggie. But everyone else was great and we got our money quickly.

The whole process went smoothly from start to finish. I am on a fixed income (SS) so being able to take some equity out of my home without taking on an additional payment was perfect for my situation. I also was able to pay off my car loan which significantly reduced my bills each month and I still put a bit of money in savings for emergencies. Everyone at Unison was great to work with. It was a great experience and I have already recommended Unison to a few of my friends who own houses.

Professional service. Convenient method of drawing equity from your home. Representative was on point all through the process.

Unison is by far the best equity share program available. We had equity in our home and needed to pay off credit card debt to retire with lower payments. Unison took care of the debt and we save $3000 a month as there is no payment to Unison until we move some day. Be patient, it can take awhile to get through underwriting, but the paperwork is minimal.

We are grateful to Unison for their support and quick service. Everything went smoothly and we were able to get the funds needed to help us do some work on our home. I highly recommend them.

I highly recommend Unison as an alternative to a traditional home equity or line of credit. The advantage of being able to obtain the money without monthly payments is a game changer.
Here is another way I have thought about this transaction. Let's say you're on a traditional path like I am planning to live in the same house 30+ years until the mortgage is paid off - and maybe longer. Throughout that time it is expected the property to increase in value in spite of its increasing age. At the time my house is sold as a result of my death or moving to a retirement home, any potential profit has never been part of retirement fund planning. Therefore, any extra taken off the top and sent to Unison is not a dramatic loss. That said, some consideration should be taken for the fine print of the 30 year max length of the partnership.

We had a great experience with Unison. They assigned a representative to walk us through the process from the beginning till the end, answered all our questions, took care of our concerns, and kept us updated all the time. We recommend to use Unison to anyone considering using their home equity for investment opportunities without the hassle of dealing with a monthly payment loan.

Unison evaluation of property values questionable. Unison appraisal came in under the low-range value for surrounding area and comps. My independently sought broker and comparison appraisal 20% higher. Appears a windfall upside immediate return on investment the only way they'll do business. My suggestion is process was a waste of my time.

Terrible company. The representative supposedly assigned never got back to me. Had to continue to request an appointment and talked to other agents who apologized for the agent not getting back to me, but they said they were limited in what they could disclose. Waited over six weeks and still no information on appraisal. Only thing an agent could tell me was what my home was appraised for; which was the exact amount they originally estimated. They never scheduled a home inspection. I decided to cancel the application process because there follow-up and communication was non-existence.

Deal with Unison was a big waste of time!
After filling all the information and uploading all the required documents on their website, the system automatically scheduled a call with Michael Yap 3 days later. On the call conference day, I waited an entire hour and no one called. I then had to schedule another call for the next day, exact same thing happened again, no one called the next day. I had to call Unison’s customer service number and I was told the person Eve Darling who was supposed to call me was not in the office yet.
I was finally able to work with Max at Unison after days of time wasted. My house value is around 2.2M, and I have more than 1.5M equity in the house. Unison kept asking for extra tax documents after getting my full tax returns for the past 2 years. I am a realtor, all realtors are self employed and receive 1099 from the previous year, Unison wants W2 which no realtors have!!! I was declined by Unison via email after 13 days, the reason was “ Temporary or irregular employment ”, I guess realtor is an irregular profession in Unison’s eyes. No real person had called. Let’s be logical here, Unison provides a non traditional loan for 30 years, within these 30 years, people’s jobs and incomes will change, income should have never been a key requirement for this type of loan. Anyone who has tons of income would get a traditional home equity loan with low interest rate instead of sharing his/her buildup equity with Unison. Available equities in the homes are the liens for the loans that Unison supposedly provide, not income!
I ended up going with Hometap which is a far superior company, the customer services are much better, the documents requirements are much simpler, the speed of getting the money is fast, the offered loan amount is much higher, I received 600K.
Point would be another good choice compare to Unison, I was approved by Point also, but the closing time is 60-90 days because they have a huge load of customers waiting for underwriting.
Go with any other company but Unison, don’t waste your time like I did.

Extremely shady business. I do not recommend doing business with this company. Unison stated that they were unable to determine the property value and declined my application. I believe they actually never did an appraisal of the house and accused the independent inspector of not doing their job. I asked one of Unison rep Ray Benavidez if there will be two inspections one for condition and another for appraisal, and he said no everything should be able to completed all within the one visit. However the person that came to do the home inspection specifically said that he was only doing a condition inspection, not an appraisal. So off course they can't determine the value of my house, because they never made any appraisal to begin with. Stella Henderson the account executive just told me over the phone that "Well sounds like the person that did the inspection didn't do the job that they were paid for then" what kind of professional answer is that? Unison was the one that hired the inspections in the first place. See below timeline and information

01/22/2022 - Submitted my application and received an initial co-investment estimate of $94,232

01/26/2022 - Submitted all of requested documents to verify income and eligibility

01/31/2022 - Home inspection was done by Rob Jacobsen of Knipe Realty

02/01/2022 - Stela Henderson which was the account executive that was assigned to my property sent me the email below:
"Congratulations! We have passed through the underwriting process. I will be your point of contact moving forward. We are now ready to order the appraisal and title reports. Appraisal 1/31
Once the appraisal and title reports are received by Unison I will reach out to you with an update. From there, our investment analysts will perform their final review. If you have any questions, please let me know.

02/04/2022 - Application was denied, below email from Unison.
"Hi Andreas Michael,

Thank you for your recent application for a home co-investment with Unison. Your application was carefully considered, and we regret that we are unable to approve your application at this time.

Principal Reason(s) for Decline:
• Unable to confidently determine property value"

My Qualification:
- Credit score 744-760 range
- Good DTI ratio
- Home purchased at $460,000 full cash. So this house has 100% equity
- Home located in high end HOA neighborhood with houses recently sold for $500k-700k

For company that does business in realty they have no idea how to do their job. Can't even make a comp? Seems like only Unison can't come up with a comp when every other realty business can. Weird and off course highly shady business. I wish i never initiated business with this company and if you are reading this you shouldn't do business with them.

Unison is engaged in fraudulent equity deals by manipulating the appraisials that
don’t allow them to maximize their profit. If they cannot get the right appraisal they
make up every excuse possible and blatantly lie bout the facts to deny the deal.

8/2021 Applied for equity sharing loan on property valued at $420,000
9/2021 Everything ask for supplied and preformed appraisal. Came back @ 385,000
which was too low to accept. Told us to get own appraisal and they would consider
09/2021 Looked elsewhere but in the area I live no other similar services available.
10/2021 Reapplied got all info needed again and they did another appraisal. This time
it was @ 405,000. Ready to accept offers but none came. Wanted more and more of the same info they had. Excuse after excuse after excuse on why we couldn't close.
Loan went to final review but needed another appraisal the first one expired and they never got the second one. A third appraisal was done by the same company that did the first. It came back at $ 412,000. WOW Now what did they do ? Said the appraisal had to be approved by their approval appraisal department, after two weeks still stuck in the aap
but everything is fine and just waiting on the department for the final. Went to final underwriting absolutly closing before thanksgiving. Stuck in underwriting with 44 other poor souls and came out so we could close by the end of the year. 2022 much more of the same run around. But now they were getting the VP of underwriting involved. Then they decided to update credit scores and they informed me that mine went too low and they were unable to proceed with the deal. Said I needed a minimal score of 620 said they pulled mine and it was in the 580"s. I got off the phone and got all three of my scores thru Chase and they were 621 - 623 and 639. They are very much fraudulent in this deal. Told them about my scores they took it back in review.
Now they came back with a denial because I had too much debt to income. Stop this company from this fraudulent activity before thousands more get injured !

I agree with the previous customer that it’s very difficult to refinance with any lender , because of Unison terms and condition. It was extremely difficult to find any lender that c would touc this loan. I wished i would’ve stuck with a traditional 2nd loan. Believe me less drama and headaches. I missed out on the low rate train and had to stick with my current rate
Also when unison completed their appraisal ( with a 3rd party 😉) it was lower than other comps in my neighborhood. Highly advised using other avenues.

I was hesitant in the beginning, but I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was thoroughly explained to me and the service was great. I'm very happy with Unison.
