We had a very disappointing experience with Magna Motors.
We purchased a car from them which unfortunately developed a fault shortly afterwards and had to be returned. While we understand that issues can sometimes happen, what followed was extremely frustrating.
We were left waiting 5 weeks for a full refund. During that time we had to make numerous phone calls, send multiple emails, visit in person, submit formal complaints, and even issue a formal letter giving Magna Motors 7 days to make payment before we would begin court action. The stress and time involved were completely unacceptable.
In the end, we only received the refund on the final day of that deadline — and only after turning up at Magna Motors in person again.
I do want to acknowledge that Joe from Magna Motors, who took over my refund case in January, was the only person who consistently replied to me and actively chased the matter on my behalf. Without his involvement, I’m not convinced this would have been resolved when it was.
Overall, a very poor post-sale experience that has left us with little confidence in recommending Magna Motors

Tried to buy an 04 plate Merc from this company , which remains unsold .. just constantly ignored by the dealer . Blocked phone numbers the lot .. very strange car dealer . Glad now really as I do wonder if there was a problem with one of his cars … you’d just get ignored .

You try them once; they give a bad quote but repeatedly (I mean 2 years later) I'm still getting emails from them asking if I want a new quote on a car I've told them repeatedly I sold! Useless and worthy of a place in the spam folder!

I recieved and initial valuation from the website, as some other reviews have commented, the initial valuation was higher than other websites. Having read the numerous reviews I decided to call the company to confirm the valuation. Spoke to Paul who was very helpful, said thay the valuation on tbe website is based on perfect condition and the last market data, which can be a bit out of date due to the volatile market. Offered an assessment at a local branch for an exact offer. Found a suitable date and met with David at the Birmingham branch. David was also very helpful and open about the valuation. I was not completely happy with the initial offer, but Paul was open to negotiation and we agreed a price. Payment terms are 3 days BACs, which is not in keep with in with many other sights, but Paul explained as a company they took this option as they had suffered some dishonest customers who had said the car had no major issues, but soon after presented various issues. Was a little concerned to have to wait 3 working days after handing over the car, but the money arrived as promised. Overall was pleased with the service i recieved and as I got the Trusted Car Buyers gave me the best price by far I was happy.

Quoted me £14,000 for my immaculate DS5, then when I phoned to confirm the appointment and clarify one or two details, I was informed that I would only be offered in the region of £11,000.
These people are CROOKS and are NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

awful avoid at all costs. quoted me £8.2k then cancelled just before the appointment then emailed to say £5.2k then kept emailing to offer £7.2k. I tried to call head office to complain and after five calls none were ever answered. this does not seem a good fair or genuine firm to me.

Do not waste your time with this company. I was given a valuation and an appointment. I drove 40 miles to the garage where it was arranged. Once there they didn’t know I was arriving. The owner of the garage was helpful . He spoke to a guy named Paul from trustedcarbuyer who said he sent me an email the night before which he didn’t. The garage owner checked the system and no email showing there either. Paul advised the car has been over valued and blamed webuyanycar hacking their system and sending out overpriced recommendation. Do not waste your time with this company. Absolute cowboys of the car trade.

I have had very recent dealings with this company & they are guilty of massively over qouting.
In my case my car was initially qouted at £25,050 which went on for two weeks as i kept doing a reqoute & then changed to £19,000 to £20,000 after I made an appointment which they then cancelled.
My advice is avoid this company.

Thought I'd share our recent (today) experience using Trustedcarbuyers.com or as I've renamed them Un Trustedcarbuyers.com.
Using their online form we obtained a valuation for my wife's car which was, by far, the best valuation we had received from all the online car buying sites. So we made our appointment on Saturday for an appointment today; the appointment was confirmed by email. Our appointment was arranged for 12.00 Monday 14 October and would be with Sam Morris at Trusted Car Buyers Horley; apparently our local branch 136 miles away! This didn't phase us as the valuation was such a favourable one; although we anticipated and expected that the valuation would be revised.
We arrived at Trusted Car Buyers Horley for our appointment admittedly a few minutes late, however we called ahead warning of our delay not to be met by anyone in particular and certainly not Sam Morris who was not on the site; he did appear 10-15 minutes later and explained that he hadn't been notified of our appointment. It was at this point that my expectations of us reaching a deal were going 'south'!
Sam 'looked over' the car and contacted, we believe, Trustedcarbuyers head office to relay his findings. A few more minutes of waiting around and Sam informed us that the valuation we had received, despite the hard copy of the Trustedcarbuyers 'Our Offer', was incorrect and that their revised offer was in the region £2500 less. Contrary to Trustedcarbuyers 'so we don't waste your time' etc. we had no contact from them giving us a revised/new offer!
So we have had complete and utter waste of a day, we are out of pocket to the tune £50, our fuel costs, and will anybody from Trustedcarbuyers 'Stand Up' and accept responsibility? I doubt that very much!
My only recommendation is that you steer clear.

seems to be standard now - got a quote online for selling my mini at £2741. Booked the appointment prepared to drive 45 mins - got an email saying appointment postponed as system overvalue. Received an email to say they would only offer £500-£1000 max.
As least I hadnt started driving there.

Got a valuation of £8k for my car, as expected. Booked appointment. Received email saying car had been overvalued and offered me £4k. Total scam. To add insult to injury, they are still emailing me to say the £8k valuation is about to expire! Avoid!

Unbelievable, I wish I had read these reviews before dealing with this company. Everything that people have said I can only echo!!
Got a quote at weekend of 14.3k for our X-trail and made an appointment to take it this morning to Wakefield for 11.00am. Just as I pulled up at 10.49, I got an email to say the appointment was postponed as there was a dispute with valuation . Ring company immediately who explained an error with computer and offer would only be between 12-13k. Woman at other end said they were aware of error with computer and were trying to notify people!! When I challenged her to say it was a scam to get people there and get money off cars she implied it was my fault anyway and if I’d done my research I should know valuation was overpriced!!!! Asked if I wanted to continue with valuation, so as I traveled for almost an hour I reluctantly agreed, . 2 minutes later she rang me back to say the values would be at least another 20mins as no one had contacted him to make appointment!!
ABSOLUTE SCAM, avoid at all costs, considering contacting Manchester Newspapers and Consumer Advice as aparrently that is where company is based!!

Load of cowboys fake don’t waste your time

Same story as the others - bunch of cowboys. Sent me quote which I was happy with but then get an email back saying the quote was erroneous (who uses that word) so I phoned them to clarify after they sent a revised (32% lower) quote.

Avoid.

Avoid. This company is a con. Their approach as many other reviewers have said: over quote and get people interested and then send a correction email and try to grab the car for much less.
Waste of space this company

Avoid Avoid Avoid. This firm is just a scam merchant. I went on their site, got a good quote for my car, made an appointment, received confirmation, but when I drove the 30 miles to the garage they had no knowledge of the appointment. The garage is just a 3rd party who get £50 per appraisal. Even the garage owner could not get in touch with them. He told me that the price quoted is to get you interested but is nowhere close to what they will offer you. His advise is to look else where. I went on Arnold Clark site, got an offer, made an appointment and sold the car in the space of 2 hours.

Booked appointment online, received email confirmation and went along. Person at location said company has folded and not trading, and owe him a lot of money. AVOID

Same thing happened to me as to so many others - I had a "quote" for £11,500 for my low mileage and excellent condition Ford Galaxy, which was more than I'd been expecting as the Auto Trader price for a private sale is around £10,300. So I was immediately a little suspicious and decided to check for reviews. When I'd read the reviews and seen so many people saying their appointments had been cancelled and they'd received downgraded offers, with the email or phone call saying this was due to a computer glitch, I thought I'd try it and see what happened.

So, I booked an online appointment to take my car to the nearest garage, 40 miles away, and waited. And, lo and behold, a few minutes later I get an email saying that my appointment had been cancelled and my quote had been reviewed - this is cut and pasted directly from the email:
"The reason was the online valuation has regrettably produced an erroneous figure for the vehicle which would not be achievable. Your revised valuation is; £8300".

That's £3,200 LESS than the original valuation - I was accurate in describing a minor scratch to one wheel and a little damage to an interior panel and even uploaded photos of them to the quote page, so I made sure I put in all the things that could potentially change the quote, and the £11,500 figure I got was AFTER I'd done all that. So the downgrade is for what, exactly? And they haven't even seen the car, remember.

All the warnings about these people are true - take your business elsewhere. I'm taking my car back to the dealer I bought it from 4 years ago where they offered me £9,500 for it, and I won't be touching this lot with the proverbial barge pole. And neither should you.

Oh, and despite their so-called "Gold Standard" Feefo status all over their homepage, when you try and find them on Feefo or follow the link from the site itself, you get the "merchant not found" message, and there aren't any Feefo reviews on their Facebook page either. So make of that what you will - the Advertising Standards Agency is my next stop, after I get a few screenshots of their home page....

I did in fact complain to the Advertising Standards Authority about the advertised Feefo Gold Standard not being true, and they upheld my complaint. They contacted the company and asked them to remove the false advertising, which I'm glad to see they've now done,but funnily enough there aren't any links now to any external review sites anywhere on their website at all. So it's worth complaining about stuff like this as it does work. And as for all the "customer testimonials" these people do have a link to on their website? There are three. That's it.
