Just visited the Peterborough branch. A very mixed experience. Firstly Smyths very rarely seem to have any promotions or deals all items at full price or £1 or £2 off. The staff on the sales floor were all really friendly and acknowledged me with a smile on several occasions. The managers are always visible and working hard too. The cashier at the front is always nice but quite often they have the video game department as the only till on. Here you get a very different service. No talking, no smiling just told me the total and then held out receipt whilst walking off. No eye contact just very frosty. Finally the Female security guard at the tills does not move. Every time I go in she is there talking loudly on her phone or has music playing on her phone with no interest in her surroundings. I appreciate a guard may try and blend in on their phone but not stud at the tills they don’t. I’m not sure what she is being paid but she does nothing. She comes across very intimidating and unprofessional and portrays your business in a bad light. Overall I got what I wanted and wasn’t overcharged but didn’t feel like I got great deals and didn’t receive great service on the exit.

Ordered a toy for my Granddaughter birthday, arrived at Hermes store 3 days later and it is still sat there 7 days later, birthday is today and still no sign of the parcel.you cant contact SMYTHS..on line chat with Hermes is a waste of time....NEVER EVER order with these people again

My experience with Smyths Toys was nothing but a disappointment. I ordered a swing set that apparently went missing, on the 28th of July and still don’t have a functioning swing set on August 19th. There is a serious amount of miscommunication within the company. After finally getting the swing set after a series of phone calls, possibly 15 or more, the swings arrived on the 17th or August with a key piece of the swing set missing which cannot be used by the children. It was bought as a birthday present and it has caused nothing but heart ache. Still I have received zero satisfaction and the problem has still not being resolved. The box arrived torn and no reasoning was given for this. The swing set was expensive enough and delivery was a scandalous price which was not satisfactory. Not only the box torn but one swing set missing. I would not recommend shopping with Smyths. Support other toy stores that respect and appreciation your business!!

Excellent shipping. Fast and reliable. Ordered many times without issue. Also comes in plain box so if needed for birthday or other occasion it's arrives discreetly without children knowing.

Worst store manager, poor product quality. Bought a inline skate, 1 month all stitches came off. Don't go there China products.

Went to Smyths Naas today and I have to say staff are brilliant, Gavin on the Tech/Electronic/gaming section was absolutely fantastic and a great help,its so good when staff are knowledgeable and do their utmost to help.

Very poor service.
Damaged item delivered for child's birthday. No way to get in touch with the company to get a replacement (tried email, phone etc).
Avoid.

I am very disappointed. Ordered a gift 3weeks ago. on tracking it says your parcel is on it's way your in next 24 hours that was dated 16th may. Left numerous emails n chat messages to Smyth's no response. Hermes not responding either. Cant cancel and replace the gift and dont know what's happening.

Didn’t want to even give one star .
My parcel sent via yodel a £70 sand and water tray had no arrived . Yodel txt states it’s been delivered. I’ve contacted via online chat and been told by yodel it’s been delivered myself the purchaser have not received it . Ive been told to contact Smyths . Had no response feeling so frustrated spent over an hour trying to chase my sand water pit .

They always have the toys I want and I find the staff very pleasant, shop with confidence.

I worked at Smyth toy store in Falkirk as a retail security officer I want to give you my experience

Two managers like to hide than work on the shop floor. The floor staff and other two mangers are so friendly and helpful to costumers.

The security company are unprofessional and not trained in retail security plus they do not know about SCONE and the public laws.

Finally I would say this Dan Lynsay and Bazray should be promoted and Scott and Gillian and both be running the store.

Went to the Westwood store in Thanet yesterday to buy a product , as they have there special offer on to find the product out of stock !!
Luke was brilliant, he took my phone number and said if any come in tomorrow on delivery , I will ring you and hold it for the day , and he did just that .... one happy customer, thank you Luke 😀

Absolute bunch of crooks, stay away and shop else where.
No help when it comes to having a faulty product, if they say it’s not faulty then that’s it won’t help your sent away.
Got on to resolver to help, who put you in touch with the Smyths customer services and again they don’t look at the product they just say we are taking managers word and that’s final, even though the manager could not give me a full report of his finding or what qualifies him to say my item has not got a manufacturing fault!! Even though I have since found that this item does have faults and not got great reviews!! I can’t stress enough about staying away from them, rude untrained staff what more can I say .. shocking!!!

Shocking baby products that wouldn’t even be suitable for a hyena, but smiths are the ones laughing... all the way to the bank. Also they didn’t accept printed vouchers for Black Friday even though it was still Black Friday. Everything about them is crap.

Great experience. Grandchildren were happy with the special toy event and felt special. Go on promotion days.

Bought a car chair aged from 18 months to 12 years. No one from the store made me aware about no refunds or exchanges on ‘nursery items’ even though nursery items are for under 12 months old.
No free fitting was offered, no awareness on refund policy. I even said to the colleague if it’s too wide I will exchange it for the other car seat that I bought and he said no problem. (I bought two different ones on the same day)
On return, I had an extremely sarcastic store manager named Joe from the Barnet store talk to me like I was stupid in front of my two children. On complaint to customer services, no further help is being given.
I provided evidence that the store manager lied to me about refund policy saying it is situated in front of us at the checkouts- I asked him to show me this and he pulled a fancy sign from under the checkout and in bright red stated *DO NOT SHOW CUSTOMERS*.

Customer services are worse liaising with the store manager himself to deal with my complaint which is utterly ridiculous and of course the manager said I was using threatening language and a raised voice to him in front of my children!

I am continuing to take this further due to the constant lies let alone the lack of customer awareness which all colleagues must be trained on as there was a lovely big display of all their certificates but no sign to let us know that we cannot change or return these items.

I will expose this abusive manager.
