My very first purchase with thriftbook.com and the book came soiled, grease spots, warped cover, bent pages, and MOUSE TURDS between pages. Seriously. It went straight into the garbage. I will NEVER buy from them again. I am so insulted. Clearly, an employee at thriftbooks is a tRump supporter, but c'mon......

I love this app! You have the opportunity to earn free books ($5 or less but still worth it) and the books you order are in great condition unless noted by the seller. I ordered three books for less than $20 that would have cost at least $80 or more at a major chain. I just wish they would take donations

The books are reasonably priced and in good condition. The seller let's you know if there is wear.

I received two of the books I had problems with. Still received the book Birthright by Nora Roberts without the dust cover but, did get the three fates with dust cover. Have not received Homeport by Nora Roberts with the dust cover. If I had a way to send the books back that do not have the dust covers (4 at this time) without a cost I would

I bought the three Volume set of the Great Books Reading & Discussion Program - Complete Fifth Series (Fifth Series, Volumes 1, 2, & 3) from Amazon. The set was listed as Sold By: Thrift Books. The price was $33.98. I received only Volume 1 of the Fifth Series. After contacting both Amazon and Thrift Books, I still have not received any response from either. Thrift Books did send me back a goofy automated response indicating that I could not return the book. I immediately responded that I did not want to return Volume 1, I just want to get the Volume 2 and Volume 3, that they advertised and that I paid for. No response! Check the Amazon website to verify the EXACT description was for all three volumes of the Fifth Series, at a price of #33.98.

I sent for a copy of Little Women-used acceptable for 28$. When it came the first five pages fell out. No t acceptable. Very tacky!

Hours of my 80 years in life have been spent in brick and mortar book stores trying to find titles, and/or reasonable prices. They offered the ability to skim a book on random pages to see if I really wanted to purchase that book.

I started hunting through used brick and mortar used book stores in 1970. Again skimming the contents at random and checking a book's condition before purchase.

Along came Amazon with prices that put brick and mortar new book stores out of business. But used book stores flourished, some to the size of supermarkets. I could handle books to browse and buy at reasonable prices.

Abe books amalgamated book stores to get prices down - if you don't add shipping and tax. No browsing and seemingly offering slightly discounted retail new book prices.

I discovered Thrift Books six months ago. Prices amazed me, and they offered a choice of grades for book condition. For contents browsing I found generally reasonable descriptions of contents - not quite the sam as browsing with the book in hand - mostly accurate for plot and size..

I had not worked on my collection of Graphic Novels in some years. No super-heroes or pop comic books are collected or wanted. I look for serious material in certain styles of art aimed at mature and literate readers.

OK, time to try Thrift Books, their prices seemed affordable.

Thrift Books catalogue is immense. It took me several hours a day to go through all the Graphic Novel to find mature themes listings. These are unhappily not separated from pop comics listings. The lists do include out of stock titles of desirable books that enabled me to get on a waiting list for when they did come in. That feature works!

I put many items in my first cart -- generally choosing Good condition or better. When I actually ordered them I found that some were billed as free. Those were based on the number of books I ordered.

My first order arrived with every title I could afford from the Comics and Graphic Novels listings. There were three different shipments, no charge for shipping.

Checking the order I found that good and better conditions were a right choice. The acceptable condition I ordered is just that. These are obviously well read several times, still soundly bound, but with notes, possible stains, scraped covers and corner crimped pages. Some had library markings showing their discard date.

That first order also contained what I considered a mistake. I only ordered graphics from the proper sections of their catalog. One title was a written non-illustrated paperback supermarket edition.

When I called and explained the situation, the service person said they would call me back. To my delight, they did to let me know that it would be expensive to shipping it back so I should just keep it. (I later gave it to a friend who prefers words only.) I was credited for the price.

My next order was fine, and two orders since that with only good or better condition purchases (maybe $.50 per book difference) all have been better than most brick and mortar used book store offerings at higher prices.

I do miss being able to flip through random pages while browsing. I have only been disappointed when I order based only on a title and description of contents. Then, when the art is not what I would keep in my collection I can blame no one except myself. Since it is what I did order "blind" I have no gripe.

Orders arrive from wherever they ship in about 5 work days (at latest) from the on-line confirmation that the order is filled. That e-mail confirmation usually comes the day after my order is placed.

By using Thrift BooksI have saved hundreds of $$. I have satisfactorily increased my graphic novels collection with titles I could not find elsewhere.

Looking at other lists, I now have acquired some titles of non-fiction and novels I thought I could not afford at even brick and mortar used book stores prices.

Since I am 80-years old and have collected, bought, sold and read a lot of books, I have found few things to criticize about Thrift Books, and an awful lot to keep me as a regular customer.

Now if anyone can figure an on-line way to browse random pages .... I'm pretty sure Thrift Books will be among the first to adopt it.

Great job - fast cheap and easy

I ordered from Thrift Books three times.

The first order was a gift for a dear friend that went smoothly.

My second order was a couple of board books in "Like New" condition for my baby girl. One of the books was NOT as described above; it looked heavily used with damage to the edge of a few pages and the covers.

Since I was offered a free book under $5, I placed another order. My third order is also a couple of board books in "Like New" condition. Depending on the condition of these books, I may or may NOT consider purchasing from them again.

I paid for a book but it never arrived. When I contacted #ThriftBooks they didn't want to know. I was charged the money but no book. Avoid these guys at all costs and do not trust them with payments or credit card details.

This is Roy B I just sent my review, and have read how bad I sounded. The problem is with the USPS and not Thrift Books, If I ever get my book I know that I will be very happy with Thrift Books. I'm spoke to soon

Thrift books is literally the best place to purchase books. All my life i've always shopped at Barnes and noble or half price books. However, as i started buying books more frequently; the cost started adding up to a lot. That's when I found thrift books. The prices are unbeatable and are usually always cheaper than any other new or used bookstore. Once you place an order, it takes less than a week for it to arrive. Moreover, after spending a certain amount of money, you are gifted a free book.

I only had one instance where I did not receive my books in the scheduled time frame. However, I let thrift books know and they immediately replied back saying they'd resend a new shipment of those same books free of charge.

Definitely, definitely, definitely recommend this company.

In order to "respond" to them I have to log in and do all sorts of mechanizations. Why can't they just respond to me? I don't have the time to go through all those steps. Not worth the effort. Easier to not order from Thriftbooks.

This is a really good site for avid readers. A couple times I have received books that weren't what I thought they were. For the most part the books and shipping is cheap and the books are always in good shape!
