Negative refund experience
Had an item out of stock and refunded the order. They wouldn't clearly communicate if the order could be partially filled, despite me enquiring twice. Given stock levels it seems like that would've been an option.
The item came back into stock a day later and they refused to reserve a copy. The item then sold out.
Nothing like a discount of voucher was offered for the inconvenience. Really poor experience and poor customer service.

Slow shipping, Books not marked as out of stock when unavailable
I placed an order for 2 books, 1 of which was out of stock (this was not mentioned at all on the website). Nothing happened with my order for over a month - I reached out to their customer service who were actually very helpful and agreed to ship the other book in my order which was in stock. Unfortunately they use DAI shipping who tend to be pretty useless in my experience; so receiving anything takes long and is always needlessly complicated. I will not be purchasing from them again.
Pre-ordered a book - never arrived
Pre-ordered a book assuming, like bookdepository, it would appear in due course. It never has. Customer service people never (NEVER) reply, no refund, nothing.
Do not buy from these people; there is a 31% chance you will have a very unpleasant experience.
Lied about issuing refund
I am extremely disappointed with The Nile (thenile.com.au). They claimed to have refunded me for an item, but after checking with my bank multiple times, it is clear that this seller has not issued a refund. Despite repeated assurances from The Nile, the refund never materialised in my account.
The customer service experience has been frustrating and unhelpful. I have provided them with all the necessary documentation and proof, yet they continue to insist that the refund was processed. My bank has confirmed on multiple occasions that no such transaction has occurred.
This level of dishonesty and lack of accountability is unacceptable. I would strongly advise against doing business with the Nile based on my experience. They do not seem to value their customers or uphold basic standards of business integrity. Avoid at all costs.
Goods not received, refund issued
Company lied about date they sent the book I ordered, it was ordered as a click and collect, I was not notified so did not know book had arrived at hub outlet, book was sent back, Nile said they hadn't received it back, advised me that they would not refund my money and advised me that it was rare that undelivered items made it back into thier warehouse but if it did would try to arrange a redelivery.
I was advised the person I initially dealt with did not act in line with the company's customer care standards, they would be addressing the matter to improve their customer care standards, and they issued me a refund.
I hope they do improve their service and brand image as for myself, although I received a favourable outcome, it wasn't a positive experience.
Dodgy company, mutliple times nothing was sent
I tried ordering with them 3 times. My orders never arrived and was never compensated. they use a dodgy shipping company that claim they attempted delivery to my residential sydney address which never actually occurred (i work from home). Dont bother with the customer service team as they will never respond aside from a generic copy/ paste email response.
Really poor service
Really poor service. I had to chase up the order and they still have only shipped half of it. Still hasnt arrived/ Asked for a refund on the non-fulfilled item as they had not sent it yet and was refused. Won't be shopping here again.

Sells items they don’t actually have in stock.
The Nile sells items they don’t have in stock. I have twice ordered items from them and received tracking information from them but the tracking numbers are all fake and don’t actually show your product. After waiting over a month for my item, they just issued a refund without even telling me.
Don’t buy from The Nike if you actually want the items you paid for as you will not receive them.
Never Again
I ordered my book from THE NILE but did not receive an order confirmation/NO tracking/No order updates so I believed that I had been scammed! I re-ordered the book from another distributor two weeks after my purchase from The Nile, and goodness me,.. From the alternate distributor, I received an Order confirmation WITH Tracking details immediately following my payment, and the kicker was, that I received the book from the other site the day before I received the one from THE NILE. This is a Never Again moment for me. Never Again will I purchase anything from THE NILE!

If I could zero stars I would. Item ordered on 21st March said delivery in 5 days. Tracking number doesn’t exist. First time I checked it said it had been dispatched. Contacted them on 31st and was told it had been dispatched from NZ and should arrive in a few days. Contacted them again on April 4 as it had stated Item was only ordered on April 1. Coincidence?
They advised it would be delivered by today April 10.
Guess what?
So checked again and it states item was ordered 2 days ago.

One item, three countries, who knows when delivery will actually happen
The delivery date they gave didn’t happen, tracking is still showing pending after 6 days. When I contacted them about it their excuse was that due to stock issues that I ‘should have been contacted about it’ and that they’ve had to order it from a UK supplier, then once it’s been scanned in New Zealand then it would update - so it’s going from the UK to New Zealand then to Australia. If I’d known it was going to be so delayed I would have ordered elsewhere. Not impressed at all.

Would give zero stars if I could!
Purchased a bag on 11/1/24. Got email confirmation letting me know and I’d get a second email when it left the warehouse with a tracking number and that estimated delivery would be 5-7 days. Never received email confirmation or tracking number. Emailed them on 18/1 wondering when my item would be shipped. Got a response straight away that it had left the warehouse that morning, what a coincidence! They sent me the email to let me know it was on its way and would arrive 20th-22nd January and a tracking number for Aramex, the courier. Click the link in the email to track it, not even scanned in yet and hasn’t left Victoria. Almost 2 weeks and it’s still in the warehouse. To think they charged me postage!! This isn’t good enough, 2 weeks to prepare an item to leave the warehouse is rubbish
No returns process
Ordered a wall mounted clothes airer but couldn't install it because the fixing points didn't line up with my studs (no flexibility). The return process is non existent. Australia Post wouldn't accept it because it was 7cms too long, and the cheapest courier was going to cost $70, so I haven't returned it and am out of pocket $150 and trying to resell the item on Facebook for $100.

I still have not received my order Listen to the reviews, don't purchase from this company as they can't keep delivery schedules and they use aramex formally know as fast was couriers they said $7.99 was the cheapest and quickest way parcel took 2 weeks because wrong address was placed on label
Unacceptable!
I ordered a book on the 8/1 with delivery before 30/1, was sent a tracking number which doesn't exist so I contacted customer service, well the answer was be patient, can't tell you where it is and give us another week!!! I emailed them again to advise I need this for a 40th birthday gift but again they don't know where it is and to be patient!
NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!

Non-Receipt of Goods
I ordered a calendar through TradeMe NZ early December hoping it would be received before Christmas. I followed up later in December and was told "it is on its way." I have since enquired with the courier company Aramex who now advise that they never received the package, with no record of it ever being scanned in. I am in contact with them, but what a scam.
UPDATE: I have received a very apologetic email from The Nile regarding my complaint. They have stated they are sending another calendar expeditiously which is a good start to remedying this mishap. I will report back once it is received.

False delivery times
Placed an order at the start of December. It stated I would receive it by the 20th of December, in time for Christmas. I followed up as it was nearing the date, and i was then told I would receive it no later than the 22nd of December. It is now the 11th of January and I still have not received the order, nor had any contact made about its where abouts. Listen to the reviews, don't purchase from this company.
