Same as others - a scam - AVOID

I thought that it was a shoot off Smyths Toys. Nope!
Seems to be a scam.
Just in the the process of cancelling my card...just hoping that I tried to buy (repeatedly) with the same card :-/

SCAM! A true disgrace. They've made their website look so genuine along with it being 'McAfee certified', so I was gobsmacked to find that they don't even exist. Their address belongs to a Hull train company & they never respond to emails. They've put their name on the companies government site, too, however they have a net worth of £0! I've cancelled my card, reported them to Action Fraud & Google must remove them immediately.

Placed order. Process looked normal. Supplied my card details. Had an email later as follows"We're sorry that your order has failed.
This may be for the following reasons:
1. Your payment card may have insufficient funds or has been declined
2. Due to fraud prevention restrictions
3. We have been unable to fulfil your order
Please note that no payment has been taken from your card for this order. Should you wish to retry placing the order, we will gladly review it and process it accordingly.
Should you need assistance with anything else, do not hesitate to contact us!

Yeap same as everyone else. Placed an order Sunday . E mail cancelling today . Have had to cancel my credit card at the worst possible time . The site DOES have a secure padlock on it so I thought it was safe . Cancelled my card to be 100% sure :-(

Same as everyone else. Looked so real, can't believe website hasn't been taken down. Cancelled my card and reported website as scam using Google phishing reporting site

my story is the same as everyone else. usually read reviews first so kicking myself. They are a scam site to harvest card and personal details. You will place an order then get an email two days later saying it’s been cancelled for a number of reasons.
I got the email bang on time this morning.
I only wish I’d read trust pilot reviews first :(, had to put a block on my card which is a colossal pain.. So just sharing to stop other people being inconvenienced from them cos they loooked proper and appeared in the shopping section of google results.

same things as all the other reviews, brought a book on black friday, it got cancelled a couple days later and so i re-ordered, and out of concern I checked this website and now im scared about what they could do with my card details.
Worst thing is, when I googled the book I wanted, Smyths Books was the third option on the homepage and had the best price and so made it an easy choice. It wasnt some hidden website I had to search around for, it was just there.

Same experience as everyone else The company appears to be registered on companies house website with contact details of director.

UPDATE 28/12/18: Fraudulent debit charges appeared on my bank account today, luckily my bank spotted them quickly. Definitely worthwhile cancelling your card before this happens.

This must be a scam... Ordered twice having failed payment and they have my card details twice now... Not sure whether to cancel my bank cards!

Unfortunately my experience is exactly the same as everyone else on this site. I ordered several books for my daughter and I received an email saying my order had been cancelled due to my card being declined, me cancelling it or stock issues. I emailed them explaining I was disappointed as the items were gifts. No reply so
I assumed I had entered my card details incorrectly and re-ordered the same books. It was only when I received another email saying my order was cancelled AGAIN I found this site full of reviews from people who have had exactly the same experience. :(
I have cancelled my card and will be warning my family & friends to avoid this scam site! I would advise everyone to avoid.

Well I feel like a dolt, feel for the scam. I've had the same experience as energy one else here. Guess I'll cancel my bank card tonight, as its clear this is simply a data harvest site!

I usually read this reviews before I place an order but forgot with this company. I wish I had, I've had exactly the same experience. Total scam, and as others have said, they now have my bank details...

Update: I've since had fraudulent activity on my credit card, this is the only different site I've used so it's very suspicious! Please avoid!!

Ordered, paid then an email 2 days later said order failed due to payment issues!! Which is rubbish. Cannot find Smyths books when searched the internet except for trust pilot and all these bad reviews. Disgusting service

Basically same experience as everyone else. Ordered some books, got an email that the order is being processed, 2 days later it's cancelled due to the failed payment. When i wanted to check what card I used to re-do payment, i googled them, couldn't find the website but instead (to my luck!) i found trust pilot reviews. Avoid!

I, like others, had my order cancelled by email with them giving three reasons why this could have possibly happened.

Thinking there was something wrong with my card, I reordered the books with a different card and the same thing happened.

I have tried to email them with no response. They now have my card details with me having nothing to show for it. I would avoid this company.

AVOID this company. First order cancelled by email 3 days after with range of reasons why this may have happened. I'd never had this happen with a purchase before and I thought I must have put in wrong card details. I reordered the book and this time had email 2 days later saying failed. I then googled company and found these reviews. It is worrying they had card details so will be checking with the my bank.

Same experience as other comments -I have reported to trading standards via citizens advice strongly recommend everyone else who has dealt with this company do the same, the more complaints and evidence helps trading standards shut these rogues down!!

DO NOT USE!
I had the same issue as everyone else on here. Couldn’t remember which card I’d used so I’ve reported them all lost. Otherwise they have all the necessary card info to make transactions.
I’m normally more careful than this. It just looked so genuine.

Thanks god, I decided to search some more information before trying to repeat the order and giving another card details. Avoid!
