Good Quality shed / Cabin, good fitters on both occasions, good advice given on the after care

Very disappointed with the quality of the Skinners Sheds (Canterbury) summer house we bought recently and their total lack of customer service.
Our experience means that we will never use this company again and if you would like quality and customer care, think twice. I keep reading their website regarding quality of materials and workmanship and none of that was true in our experience.
The joints of the timbers look like they have been sawn with a blunt saw, none of the joints actually fit properly together, nails were protruding inside the summer house, and the screws are put in at an angle so the heads stick out, causing cuts if you brush down them with your hands or your arms scrape them.
Parts of the summer house are put together with 2/3 bits of odd wood instead of 1 and most look like off-cuts as they are very rough. The workmen even had a major problem getting the door to fit as it was badly made.
On speaking to the salesman in Canterbury, because I could not find a telephone number for customer services, I was told to go online and input the information with photos which I did. I also sent the photos to the salesman as I did not know if they had gone through. All I got back from ‘customer service’ was an email saying a recall team would be out. I had no idea whether this meant they were taking it away or replacing it. I sent another email asking what this meant and had no response from customers services. Apparently, you cannot talk to an actual person.
After more attempts to call the salesman, I finally got hold of a salesman in Ashford who said he would get the Canterbury salesman to ring me. On finally receiving a call back from the Canterbury salesman he explained there would be workmen arriving who would see what could be done.
During the conversation the salesman used phrases such as ‘if I were being pedantic I could pick out things wrong in my office’ (the shed at the site he works from). I assured him I was not being pedantic and the photos showed this. He also said ‘it’s just a shed’ and if I wanted a higher quality I would have had to pay a lot more!…
I gave up and waited for the workmen to return to find out what was going to happen to our summerhouse which was clearly looked on by the company as ‘just a shed’ now. Even if we had wanted it for just a shed, I would not have expected the quality of workmanship and materials. We have a shed in our garden which whilst older is much better quality.
The workman who had carried out the summer house erection came with a new person and asked what was wrong. He then proceeded to say that it was not his work at fault. I showed him the areas needing work and he also said ‘it’s just a shed’ but removed the nails etc sticking out and sanded a couple of the worst areas. He then handed the sandpaper to my partner as he left.
All we wanted was a nice little summer house to enjoy for the summer. My partner could have done a much better job for a few hundred pounds but we thought we would get a professional company in, spend a few thousand and make it a proper summer house and just do the painting ourselves. We are now having to sand down every angle and fix every crooked screw and infill bits of missing wood before we can even start to paint it.
As well as that I thought we had bought a nice little summer house according to the description on the site example and on talking to the salesman at point of sale but now our dream little summer house is apparently ‘just a shed’.

purchased two skinner sheds, one for ourselves and one for daughter. pleased with the quality and the two same fitters done a good job. The daughters was an ex display shed, in hind sight should have purchased as new. Had to make a few repairs but still happy.

From initial conversation to purchasing and then installing our summerhouse I cannot fault Skinners Sheds. The whole process has been seamless, every member of staff we have dealt with has been efficient and courteous.
The guys that put our summerhouse together were fantastic, there were logistical issues with the location of our summerhouse, but it was dealt with professionalism.
I would certainly recommend them to anyone wishing to purchase from this company.

Recently had a log effect summer house from Skinners Sheds. Firstly had a base put done which they put together very promptly arriving early on the day arranged did an excellent job and they were very tidy and no mess left behind.
On the day the summer house was due, two guys arrived on time and very professionally put together the summer house, they knew exactly what they were doing and completed the job exactly as you would expect.
Overall we have been very pleased with the service and advice received from Chris at the Crowborough site, and the smooth way everything went from start to finish.
Really pleased with the way the log effect summer house looks finished in the walnut stain.

Skinners put the shed roof on the wrong way round, so the protective felt overlap was, in fact, an underlap, holding the rain water at the felt joins. This was not noticed by us and over time the roof started to leak. The guarantee was long over, but as the cause of the leak was clearly Skinners fault (I sent them the photos they asked for) I thought they would fix it. I only ever had 1 reply from their customer services, despite my many calls. Even the MD, Mr White, chose not to reply to the registered letter I can see he received. SO WATCH OUT IF YOU’RE THINKING OF GETTING A SKINNERS SHED OR CABIN.

We purchased a small shed store from the Winnersh branch recently, and are very happy with it. Sales rep Samuel was very helpful and it was easy to place an order. We didn't have long to wait and the store was put together quickly by the delivery guys. Looks good and far better than a plastic shed.

Really very pleased with the whole process of first the base then the corner pent shed being installed!

It looks great and I would not hesitate in recommending skinners sheds as a company as everything went smoothly from start to finish!

Yes very pleased with my new potting shed, Had a shelf put on the left hand side for all my bits and all tools replaced and hanging up and a runner laid on the floor to stop mud ruining the wooden floor. New plants gradually coming through to plant out. Many thanks for an excellent service, your guys were very professional.

My shed installation couldn’t have been more efficient. I got a call to say they were coming, the two men who came got on with the job efficiently and left me with a shed I am very happy with.

The whole process was very straightforward and easy. Pricing was done with a local agent and on the day two great guys turned up and worked hard to erect the shed. They made sure it was in the right place and that I was happy with the look and operation. The shed looks great and I am glad I went with the rubber roof as it feels like it will last a long time.

A pleasure to deal with, from the initial advice that lead to the purchase, right through to the installation. The workshop is very good quality and the guys that installed it were polite, helpful and professional, overall a great experience. Would strongly recommend Skinners.
