DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALER!!
I've had an awful experience with this dealer. I bought a Volvo V60 and initially, communication was fine when they wanted my money.
I had the car delivered and managed to drive it for a whole 9 days before it broke down with a suspected electrical fault.
Attempted to contact the dealer on the day, with no response. I tried multiple methods of communication over the next few weeks with no answer to any of my phone calls or messages. Within these messages, I had requested a full refund and was met with, again, no reply.
It got to the point where I raised a case with Citizens Advice for their breach of the Consumer Rights Act as I had requested the refund within 30 days of the purchase of the vehicle. The aim is to now escalate to Trading Standards.
If I could give 0/5 stars, I would.

Recently bought a VW from here and had no problems when buying it. The guys there were very useful in answering all my questions as well as making sure the car was perfect when I came to collect it. Definitely would come back to buy again in the future. 👍🏻
fantastic experience with SD Automotive
I had a fantastic experience SD Atomotive, very friendly and professional staff. Robin was my salesman and he went above and beyond. Not pushy, the cars were priced correctly. I went through most things remotely due to the distance but had no doubts this was a good company to purchase from. Thanks guys
Stress free deal
Stress free deal, Salesmen aren't pushy either and are very knowledgeable. Definitely would recommend
Thank you to the whole of SD Automotive
Just been here to purchase our new family car
Just been here to purchase our new family car and walked away with a VW Touareg. Customer service was excellent, the car was fully garage checked before leaving. An absolute smashing car and service. Highly recommend
AVOID!!
Just to back up other reviews saying how bad this company is.
Arrogant staff. You will be charged over £600 if you don't use their finance company.
If you are lucky enough to pick a good working order car, you wont see the real SD motors. If you have any issues, expect no customer service at all. Even when after a year of the finance company getting independent assessors out who reported the car was faulty at sale, they did everything to delay the inevitable and left my son with no car for a year, struggling as couldn't get another car until it was all settled. One of the worst years for us as a family. So stressful. Never use an independent car dealership and dont touch SD motors with a barge pole!
The blind leading the blind
Right… strap in because this one’s a good one 😂
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to buy a car from a dealership that treats basic safety like an optional extra… look no further.
I was told the car had been “fully checked”, “all sorted”, “ready to drive away”. What I actually got was a vehicle that felt like it had passed its inspection via vibes alone. I’m convinced the “inspection” was just someone kicking the tyre and saying “yeah that’ll do”.
Within minutes I knew something wasn’t right. The car was making noises I’ve only ever heard in horror films. At one point I genuinely considered apologising to it before starting the engine.
And somehow… SOMEHOW… this thing was allowed back on the road?? I’ve seen safer dodgems at the fair.
When I raised the issues, instead of taking responsibility it was all “we can repair it”. Oh brilliant, so sell me a broken car first and then act surprised when I notice?? What’s next, selling umbrellas with holes in and offering tape after it rains?
Communication was a whole experience on its own. Replies came and went like a situationship. One minute they’re there, next minute… gone. I’ve had more consistent updates from delivery drivers.
At this point I trust weather forecasts more than anything I was told here.
Overall, an absolute circus. The only thing missing was a clown car… which, to be fair, might actually have been safer.
Would I recommend? Only if you enjoy stress, disappointment, and living life on hard mode.
0/10. would rather walk.
I recently purchased a Range Rover…
I recently purchased a Range Rover Velar from this dealership, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, the team was welcoming, professional, and genuinely attentive without being pushy.
The sales staff were incredibly knowledgeable about the vehicle and took the time to walk me through all the features, options, and financing details in a clear and honest way. They made what can often be a stressful process feel smooth and straightforward. I really appreciated their transparency and patience in answering all my questions.
The vehicle itself was presented in immaculate condition, exactly as described, and the handover process was seamless. They made sure I was comfortable with everything before driving away, which added a nice personal touch.
Overall, this dealership sets a high standard for customer service and professionalism. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a premium car-buying experience, and I’ll definitely be returning in the future
Avoid SD Automotive.
Avoid SD Automotive.
I don’t usually write reviews, but my experience here was serious enough that I feel I need to warn others. I have full evidence (photos, videos, and written communication) to support everything below.
I originally visited to view a different car, and staff joked that they had “profiled” me as someone coming for another vehicle. While meant as banter, it didn’t give a great first impression. I explained I’d had bad past experiences with dealerships and was reassured they were different, so I went ahead in good faith.
The sale was delayed by a week so repairs could be completed. I was told an oil leak (rear main seal) would be fixed and I’d receive an invoice as proof. I never received this, despite asking.
I was also told the oil would be topped up. Shortly after purchase, a mechanic checked the car and there was no oil on the dipstick. Only around 2 litres came out of an engine that should hold nearly 5 litres. The oil leak also hadn’t been fixed.
I later found out this repair is actually a major job, not “routine maintenance” as described. This raised serious concerns that the issue had been misrepresented.
More concerning was safety — one wheel was missing a nut and others were only hand-tight. This could have caused a serious accident.
When I raised these issues, I was told to return the car to the same garage that had already missed these faults. I had no confidence in this and started a formal rejection through MotoNovo Finance.
Even with experience of consumer rights, the process was difficult and drawn out. I was told I couldn’t reject the car, asked to drive an unsafe vehicle, and there were clear delays.
An independent inspection later confirmed there was no evidence the repair had been done, along with engine faults during testing.
The process took months. The car was off the road (SORN) the entire time, causing disruption, extra costs, and stress. This also impacted my partner’s health needs as we rely heavily on having a vehicle.
The rejection has now been accepted, but it should never have got to this point.
Based on my experience, I’d strongly advise anyone considering SD Automotive to proceed with extreme caution and independently check any work claimed to have been carried out.
Excellent service
Fantastic experience from start to finish not pushy car was immaculate thanks guys
Avoid at all costa
If I could rate this lower, trust me I would.
Bought a 25k car from this dealership with issues right away, went to 2 independent garages to get a quote to get it fixed, both refused to touch it. Same, the owner of SD Vehicles insisted that these garages were poor and that he’ll do the work and it will be “cheap and easy” currently they’ve had the car for 6 weeks, spent 4k+ at BMW, they’ve failed to deliver the car on the last 4 attempts stating “it’s fixed” then it’s broken again. Then replaced discs which were perfectly fine when they left me so I assume they’ve treated themselves to some burnouts.
I can’t stress this enough, if you value your sanity and money. Do not deal with SD Vehicles.
In my personal experience
In my personal experience, this dealership has been nothing short of a nightmare.
If you value your money, your sanity, or even basic honesty — DO NOT buy a car from these people.
In my opinion, they come across as dishonest, untrustworthy, and absolutely not fit to be selling cars to the public.
Just look at their Trustpilot page… I wish I had before handing over my money.
I bought a BMW X5 from them just around a month ago and the problems started almost immediately:
• Engine light on within days
• Gave the car back — they kept it two weeks
• Returned it to me with NOTHING fixed
• Now the transfer box has issues
• And the car is pouring out coolant
For a vehicle of this price, this is beyond unacceptable.
I will be contacting the Motor Ombudsman and I will be taking this to Small Claims Court.
If they think for one second they’re getting away with this, they can think again.
And just so they’re aware: this entire experience will be going across my social media platforms, where I have hundreds of thousands of followers. People deserve to know exactly what kind of service I received.
Based on my experience, this dealership has shown me zero accountability, zero professionalism, and zero integrity.
Buy from them at your own risk — I certainly won’t make that mistake again.
Brent at SD automotive
Just bought a car from Brent at SD Automotive.
He gave me an honest description of the car over the phone .
He had a no pressure sales approach.
A fair price was given on my part exchange .
The car was well prepped for me nice and clean inside and out .
Good all round experience.
Would give zero if I could.
Would give zero if I could.
Dishonest. Over priced. Sold car with clear MOT BUT TOTALY PERISHED UN SAFE TYRES.
Serviced and oil changed with degraded oil. Claimed DPF replaced but unable to provide evidence. Said only had car 1-2month/ part exchange yet paperwork clear they had it 16mths prev, prev owner returned it within 2 weeks. Denied all knowledge.
Refused repair. Not road worthy unsafe car with DPF affecting performance and drivability of car therefore unsafe on even motorway as unable to maintain or achieve speed. Warning lights on before left dealership fobbed off, more warning lights and flat tyres by time reached motorway couple miles down road.
2nd and 3rd owners returned car within under 3 weeks with numerous diagnostic faults and DPF warnings.
Full refund received.
Didn’t do as promised repeatedly- key batteries despite numerous reminders still not ready 2 weeks later. Overpayment refund still not actioned over 2 weeks later despite saying had been. Engine fluids not topped up, coolant below minimum.
Staff dishonest and rude. Tried to make garage and customer out to be liars despite having heard recorded phone call conversations disproving what this dealership claimed.
List goes on.
Auto trader reviews appear to be filtered.
Avoid at all cost.
Sadly didn’t see the honest real reviews till after my terrible experience.
Oh and refused to have the car repaired locally despite not being road worthy or safe to drive. Had to seek independent diagnostic and legal advice.
In professional
Wanted a non refundable deposit to even view the vehicle.
Rude on phone, hung up phone.
So many discrepancies. Paperwork rushed through on otherside desk so couldn’t see/ read properly.
We bought a BMW x3 m40i from this…
We bought a BMW x3 m40i from this company in January of this year. On the website the car looked great and on the face of it the company seemed to look an ok place to buy a car……. However
First off, no standard 3mth warranty nor fresh 12 months mot here. They expect you to take out their 3rd partys warranty.
Numerous issues highlighted via a BMW health check after we had bought the car following a service. These issues were brought to our attention by BMW themselves despite us paying a £169 prep fee to Sd automotive. This prep fee it isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. Issues we had were actually reported on the prep form yet Sd automotive had not addressed these at all and we were not made aware at the time of purchase. The prep fee form was even dated 3mths prior to us buying the car?? yet still advertised the car for sale.
All paperwork on sale was rushed through and wasn’t explained at all. Very unprofessional salesman, David.
The most worrying fault was a very dangerous bodged run flat tyre repair in the inner side wall that could have blown out at any time.
Sd automotive refused to allow us to get the car repaired locally to us even though we live over 200 miles from the dealership. We could not return the car to them that due to the risk from the rear tyre. We obtained fair estimates to repair the car locally but they were having none of it. Very unhelpful.
No inc warranty, car sold with only few months mot left. Aftercare shocking! Seems they want dealership prices but you get a private sale service. Avoid, avoid, avoid!!
DO NOT BUY THEIR WARRANTY
I first wrote a review about the smooth purchase of the Peugeot 3008, spot in in fact and the sales staff very good! However a couple of weeks in and the car has a noise from the wheel and the heating fails on one side! Emailed them! USE YOUR WARRANTY! A warranty you have to pay for the labour on! And a warranty they sold for £600+ and it’s meant to have a 28 day warranty by themselves! I noticed also how they’re proactive responding to emails when purchasing a car! Not so much when the car leaves the forecourt! Now the interesting bit! The car was written off! I’ve zero need for a warranty that has 18 months left to run! Several emails sent and eventually get a reply NO REFUND! So my advice? Make sure the car is sound! And secondly DO NOT GET SUCKED IN BY THE WARRANTY THEY SELL! Obviously very highly commission based! And I will now be seeking legal advice! Great at sales but their aftercare is SHIT
Abysmal.
Abysmal.
Purchased a Mercedes GLC from SD automotive. They charged over £500 for admin fee and then handed the car over with a flat battery, empty AdBlue tank, 12 miles of fuel range.
They had to discount the car in order for me to get paint repaired where they had done a shocking job of touching in. Even this was a problem as during negotiations, the owner tried low balling saying the repairs would be less than half what we finally agreed to. This was after shouting, insulting me and yelling at his own staff to cancel the deal. He changed his mind and demeanor when I stated I would get 3 quotes via phone and provide an average price.
On the 3+ hour drive home then AdBlue warning light came on shortly followed by the engine warning light. I filled the tank with 5 drums of AdBlue with no change.
Contacted the dealer regarding this and they've been less than helpful with initial delayed responses despite the fault happening within hours of the sale . The company now expects me to drive 3+ hours in a faulty car with an engine warning light, leave the car with them, make my own way home, then do a return trip to collect once it's resolved at my own cost. Which is insanity after selling me a faulty vehicle that I've paid the tax/insurance and AdBlue on. Surely it would be cheaper and simpler for all involved to just approve the vehicle to be repaired by a approved garage local to me. They were not willing to even entertain this idea.
Despite being told responses were delayed due to having to discuss with the owner, until yesterday evening, apparently the owner is now away and uncontactable until the middle of next week. Likely preparing himself to shout at customers again.
I would strongly advise anyone against using SD Automotive as I am now having to unwind the deal and likely pursue this through legal avenues.
The customer service was fantastic
The customer service was fantastic. Richard was extremely helpful with everything I asked about. Nothing is too much trouble. I left a reservation deposit on the assumption that if I didn’t bother to come and look at it then I would lose it. I was happy with this as if I did turn up and didn’t like it then it would refunded.
The car was immaculately turned out and I was left to my own devices to look around it without having someone breath down my neck.
Thank you richard and thank you Sd automotive for the best buying experience I have had purchasing a car.
Do not go near this company!
Do not go near this company - they are dishonest scroundrels!
Having seen the 4.5 star review status on their fancy website, I left a £250 deposit to go and view a car, in good faith.
I changed my mind on the same day, however after subsequently seeing the terrible Trustpilot reviews which is a 2.8 star status on Trustpilot, with 60% 1 star reviews. I simply didn't want to deal with a company that so many people have clearly had terrible experiences with and I didn't want to be next!
I called up to say I’d changed my mind and didn’t want to make a long journey from Hampshire, but they refused to refund the deposit, saying it was their policy that you have to go and view the car and decide it isn't for you if to get your money back.
There was nothing on their website to say this and nothing in any communication from them, so I immediately raised a dispute with my bank and managed to get the monies back temporarily whilst the dispute was in progress and then after 2 1/2 months I got to keep the temporary reimbursement from my bank.
If they were a decent reputable company however this wouldn’t be what they call ‘our policy’.
Keep away!
