Super-efficient online operation
Super-efficient online operation: I made my order for a pair of unisex Scholl "Pescura" on the evening of Monday 17 June on the SanitariaWeb website; my package was despatched around lunchtime Tuesday 18 June; and I received it about lunchtime on Wednesday 19th. It can't really get any better than that for speed!
The item itself was well-packaged and as described online. The sizing is good; the foot-bed of each sandal is a solid piece of beechwood, without defect; the strap is leather with a suede lining (that was a pleasant surprise as it is not obvious on the photos); and the construction is sturdy.
As such, I have no doubt that I will get many years of comfortable wear out of them. The only cautionary point I would make by way of warning is that such wear will be exclusively around the house: the only way I could wear them in public without feeling very self-conscious and drawing curious glances would be if I was going out in drag whereas a woman who happened to have size 9 feet would not get a second look walking along the street in them.
This is not a problem for me as I bought them to replace my Birkenstocks for wearing around the house anyway, it needs to be said because - on occasion when I first got them - I wore those Birkenstocks in public without feeling the least bit self-conscious about my masculinity, actually having a sense of being like an ancient Greek warrior or Roman soldier.
The difference, I think, comes down to the Birkenstocks having the second strap across the top of the foot; the straps being "chunkier", and the dark-brown colour. It seems strange that Scholl does not have a design with two straps in a darker colour because Birkenstocks, after all, are equally unisex: - I first became aware of them because a Swedish girlfriend had a pair and they didn't make her any less feminine!
