Rent with Caution
I would not recommend. I booked with Routes in Tampa Florida and not certain how I ended up with One Switch. The also affiliate with Stride Rent A Car as that was the name on my contract. Despite following all the terms and presenting the hard copy of insurance declaration page from Farmers with adequate coverage, I had to play less make a deal on some other fees including the security deposit. To their credit, my final bill seems to be three dollars less than I was supposed to pay, but I am still waiting for the return of the $500 deposit they took from my credit card. My rental ended 6/14/2025. Today is 7/17/2025. I called One Switch and they reminded me of the contract I signed that says the deposit is held for 30 business days. I should have it returned after July 25, 2025.

Very Shady and dishonest
Whatch the employee's very shady business. I told the desk employee that I have rental insurance on my car insurance and on my credit card I was paying with and did not want to pay for the additional rental insurance. He told me I was all set, then when signing the documents I could see he included the insurance in and once again I told him I did not want the insurance as I already have coverage between my car insurance and Credit Card, he said he could see my credit card had it and we couldn’t move forward with out that so I was all set. He told me that was already included in the amount that I already paid and didn’t need to worry about it. After the transaction I asked him for a receipt and he told me he didn’t have one for me that the person who would be giving me the keys outside would provide it to me which I thought was weird where he was at the desk and he just took my credit card to pay. When receiving the slip with the keys from the outside employee and I could see he included the rental insurance for an additional amount, I went into to the office and asked him why he included it. He told me that my credit card didn’t cover the insurance, I asked him why he confirmed that it did earlier and pulled up my credit card to show him that service is included. At this point he told me he would remove the insurance but if he did he was going to decline to rent me a car. He was literally strong arming me where I was 8 dates away from home sitting in his office with all of my luggage knowing I needed and expected to have this rental. I caught this guy lying to me several times then he threatened to cancel my reservations when addressing him for his shady activity, this was such an awful experience

Always trying to upsell. Sold us a month of SunPass for $376 which I don't think we needed.
Tried charging for insurance but we brought our insurance certificates,
After returning car we calculating a very confusing bill and found we were overcharged $55.

They insisted that I take the insurance policy, even though my credit card covers it. Having convinced them after visits to their manager, they accepted but then insisted that I needed the third party liability, again I told them I was covered from my own insurance plan. They wanted proof , so I had my broker send a copy of the policy showing full coverage.My resevation also showed that I was covered.Then they wanted me to give them a security deposit of 2500.00 US dollalrs that tey would only give back 60 days from the rental day because we were renting for a month. the reservation stated that the scurity deposit would range from 250 to 500 dollars and not 2500.So again I asked to speak to the manager and the agent said he was eating, at this point I was getting very frustrated and demanded to see the manager. he came bursting out the back room , I immediatly showed him the reservation with the security deposit amount . He pointed to my wife and told her to keep quietand then said to his clerk to cancel the reservation, leaving us with no vehicle and having to go next door and pay double the rate I had secured. buyer beware, these low budget rental
companies will end up costing you more then the regular more familiar places.
Stay away from this company
We rented a car for Houston TX only to find out they are not on site and then sit at the airport waiting a half hour for diver to show up. When we got to the rental location, it looked like an abandoned building with 2 desks. When giving them my driver's license and credit card he asked for my insurance papers. I explained no one said I needed this nor have ever had to supply this and I had given all this information when making the reservation. He then said they do not accept The Hartford Insurance Co. and I would have to pay for their insurance. He informed me the cheapest was $35/day. I said that was more than the $31/day car rental. I refused and asked to be taken back to the airport, He said we would have to wait. They took us back to the airport and we rented for Alamo for only a few dollars more on our weekly rental. Stay away from this company, they are only a bail and switch.

It's very difficult to get your deposit back. They refunded it to me after almost a month and they just charged my credit card again. Either they are scammers or they are incompetent, be very careful

They rented me a very basic car that was adequate for my needs however;
1. they were not so easy to deal with
2. very slow in completing the sign up paperwork
3. THEY HAVE NOT REFUNDED MY SECURITY DEPOSIT OF $600
4. As you can see from other reviews they are not professional to deal with..
There are plenty of other car hire companies you can use locally, so please use those

Dead beat rental
I was in a miami January 24th and got a rental. It is now February 12 2025 and I still haven't received my deposit back. I have reached out to help@rentcar several times and no response
Security deposit not returned
The amount of 300 USD for security deposit for my car rental in Miami airport on January 12 2025 was wrongly charged to my credit card instead of just put as a hold on the credit card.
I reached out to them about the reimbursement 3 weeks ago. They replied that my case would be forwarded to administrative department and my deposit would be returned without any problems.
Since I haven't received the money back in the mean time, I decided to contact my credit card company and they are currently handling it.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This place operates out of a sketchy garage/warehouse and has some of the most absurd policies I’ve ever encountered. They require a **ridiculous $2,500 deposit**, with extreme terms and conditions designed to trap customers.
I refused to take a car with **visible scratches and a loose bumper** because they refused to properly document the damage. It was clear they were setting me up for future charges. Their **main phone number is just a cell phone that goes straight to voicemail**, making it nearly impossible to reach anyone for assistance.
After checking, I saw that the **Better Business Bureau has complaints about deposits never being refunded**, and every review site is filled with **negative experiences just like mine**. I regret giving them the benefit of the doubt—**stay far away from this place!**
Beware and do not use this company
Beware and do not use this company in spite of their below market costs. When my wife and I arrived we waited in line for 45 minutes (mind you there were only 3 people in front of us with 3 representatives working). Once we were helped it took another 22 minutes (we timed it) and they sprung on us that there was a $1,500 deposit that was required. This was never disclosed previously when booking online. Finally we were told the car that we reserved was not ready and waited another 15-20 minutes to get another car. In aggregate roughly an hour-and-a-half of wasted time.
Four days later we returned the car in perfect condition and full gassed up. I then checked my Credit Card statement 4-5 days thereafter and saw that the $1,500 security deposit charge was still on there. I e-mailed their customer service department and was told by "Alejandro" that it would take 15-30 "business days" for a refund of our $1,500. Really? Why so long? I am now paying interest on this?
This company is budget all the way around from their wait times, to car inventory, to transparency to holding onto a deposit for an exorbitantly amount of time. I'd advised this company that if they don't refund my money by 1-31-2025 that I'll be filing a formal complaint with the BBB and filing a dispute with my Credit Card company. Stay tuned but STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

Stay away. I'd rented a car through trip.com for my Orlando vacation and the hire car didn't have working AC in July the car got a flat tyre. I was charged nearly £100 for the privilege which was charged to my credit card a month later. 5 months later in December my card had been charged again for over £200. I've not had any further dealings with this company and have no idea why my card has been charged. When trying to call them i've been unable to get through and speak to the branch. I've had no correspondence and i have to prove to my credit card company that i've not received any goods or services from this company. I'm a very busy man and now i'm having to waste my time trying to get this matter resolved. After my credit card company has disputed the charge, One Switch have said this is for further charges. I have no idea what these additional charges are for 5 months after being initially charged for the tyre. They will continue to charge you once anytime they feel like it. I would suggest going with a reputable company as these guys will cost you more money and time in the long run with no customer support when things go wrong.

I rented from them twice in two weeks. Nov 4th to Nov 7th, and then Nov 11th to Nov 14th, 2024. Reservations #80914 and # 78294.
They requested a $250 deposit each time ($500 total). I returned both cars without any issues. I reached out to them 10 days after my second reservation (Nov 24th) about the reimbursement. They replied two days later stating the reimbursement takes 2 weeks ( due already by then of course). Since I didn't receive the money back a few days later, I decided to contact my credit card company and they are currently handling it.
I received one reimbursement for $250 on Dec 18th ( 6 weeks after my first rental - rental dates: Nov 4th to Nov 7th). Nonetheless, I'm still waiting for the reimbursement for the second rental deposit (Nov 11th to Nov 14th)
THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! It would be fair for people in the same situation to get compensated for the interest earned by that amount. Can the BBB assess this company's mal practices and take actions please?
Smooth rental process
Smooth rental process, decent car selection. The ride was comfy, though AC took a bit to cool. Return was easy, and free roadside assistance is a nice perk. Overall, a solid choice in Miami
