PCP saved my life!...

PCP, saved my life! They gave me a safe environment to detox and introduced me to the 12 Steps of AA and the Big Book, this was vital for me and my ongoing recovery. The staff were all recovering addicts when I was there, this made me feel like they understood my thinking and could empathise with me. I remain in contact with my counsellor and other staff members who I now call friends. The staff were superb and really know their stuff, they are unbiased and I never felt judged, only loved and cared for. One of the main things they strongly suggested to me was, when I leave to attend AA meetings, get a sponsor and go through the steps. This was vital to my ongoing recovery on the outside, I also went back every week to Aftercare again this helped me and kept me grounded. I will always hold fond memories of my time at PCP as it was the beginning of my new sober life.

The Beginning of a Beautiful Journey of Recovery

Having been an addict in active addiction for most of my life (I am now in recovery) I was very particular in choosing a re-hab centre for my friend.
I had heard good reviews but most importantly have borne witness to the amazing life changing success people have achieved after attending P.C.P.
Without hesitation, I booked my friend into P.C.P Luton. I was not disappointed. From the outset the staff were friendly, professional, approachable and experienced. Regular progress updates were given and all enquiries answered promptly.
My friend settled in well and after a medical detox took the first beautiful steps to recovery.
Anyone who has willingness, open-mindedness and honesty will thrive in the environment provided by P.C.P.
In my opinion, as a recovered addict, P.C.P. provides without doubt the best possible start on the beautiful journey of recovery

It’s an honest program, so here is an honest review

I booked into PCP for the 90 days, but only stayed for around 60. This rehab is very 12 step oriented and once I had completed the work I was ready too get on with living my new sober life. If you are considering going here I would suggest around 2 months, longer than that and your role becomes more about setting an example and showing that the program works rather than your own recovery. There is no refunds or after care if you leave early so I’d suggest strongly not to repeat my mistake!
Things may be different now as I was there in the summer of 2020 but there is no gym or exercise facilities you can use and if, like me you are unable to find 2 people too accompany you going for a walk or run this activity is prohibited. I had to buy an exercise bike just to burn energy and stop the restless legs.
During the day you have group lectures, mainly on step one too three, I did find these lecturers useful as I feel I developed a great understanding of the concept of addiction as a illness and how the 12 steps are supposed too work. However, they are done in the same format so often that I could have recited the whole hour or so spiel, at which point the lack of alternative sessions became frustrating.
Everyone is required too do a life story and step papers and read these too the group for feed back. This work starts as soon as you get there, so I read my life story and step one papers whilst still fairly medicated and can’t remember doing them fully, but I had countless conversations with other clients who were frightened to read their work out but relieved and happier once they had. It’s a great trust exercise. But the going straight into the groups whist detoxing does result in a lot of snoring in group, I did find it helped distract me from the rattle.
I heard a lot complaints about the accommodation, personally I thought it was like uni halls and it was much nicer than my flat, it’s not as advertised but this is one of the cheapest rehabs you will find, and better than a lot of the places I’ve lived, so I can’t say I minded.
There is a highly skilled and knowledgeable nurse on site through out the day and her help and guidance I personally found better than other councillors, drug services and Doctors I have used. It is worth noting that she is the only medically trained member of staff as one councillor is very anti medication and discusses it in a way that seems knowledgeable but lacks any insight or first hand experience and can lead individuals down the wrong path.
The one to one therapist I was assigned was also fantastic, sadly each client only saw her for an hour a week. She and the nurse really went the extra mile for each individual client and I feel focused on me as a whole person rather than as an addict. There was also 4 councillors who worked there I felt each had their own strengths. They didn’t seem too agree on how the place should run and often clashed with each other, but their individuality also meant that most people could find someone they related to. The majority of the time they were professional, although one councillor did break the confidentiality agreement and discussed my treatment without permission and issue I was told not too discuss rather than one that was fixed. This did seem to be a continuous issue due to the in house complaints procedure.
Their were also around 20+ other clients at one time, resulting in a fairly steady flow of drama, as well as some true friendships and sources of support for me today.
Sadly there were also some more difficult clients, mainly an issue in detox house. I learnt quickly that certain clients (true too stereotypes mainly older men) needed boundaries set firmly and constantly, this was based on clients though.
As I finished my steps the move on houses were pushed as an option for me, thankfully I was informed about what the houses were like as unless you can claim benefits and do not want too / are unable too work they are expensive rooms and do not offer any extra support.
Overall I went too PCP to get clean and sober. I learned about the twelve steps and I got a break from reality, I did however manage too join a cult for 9 month (that’s not mentioned on the website even though it’s basically the whole point of the rehab so deffo should be). It’s basically a little school for addicts and alcoholics, it’s not fancy or organised and the staff bully you and give you unscientific advice that is both incorrect and unsolicited. One time a staff member just told me about him and his ex wife’s sex life, the same guy also told me I should have prayed my way out of a panic attack and during my step 4 told me I was clearly too blame for being raped.
There are better safer places too go. Best of luck x

PCP saved not only mine but my family’s lifes

I was in PCP when the 1st lockdown happened and they did everything in there power to keep the centre running. I was very well looked after through my detox and the staff were on hand 24/7 to make sure that I was comfortable. I was in for 3 months and made some life long friends. I had never heard of a 12 step program before, I wish I had known about it sooner because it would have saved me and my family a lot of unnecessary suffering, I can’t thank all the staff there enough everyone from the cleaner (Karen) who was always jolly and a breath of fresh air, to senior management, they all have my up most respect, the fact that most of them are recovered addicts and alcoholics really helps, because you know that they are talking from experience. I have had no hesitation in recommending PCP to other suffering addicts/alcoholics.

Best choice I’ve ever made

Amazing people, support and was the springboard to my recovery!

I am 3 months sober thanks to PCP! It’s 12 step approach was perfect as I knew I’d have the support of meetings when I left.

I did 28 days, the therapy was fantastic. People commenting on the houses we stay in, seriously when your Broken and can see no way out, this was the least of my worries. Btw the accommodations were fine, clean and comfortable. The therapist and everyone who works at PCP make it. Many of them are in recovery so know the drill, which filled me with hope! Active addiction is the bleakest place ever!

If you apply yourself, surrender and take all that’s on offer a new, beautiful life is waiting x

Amanda, Amar and Michael were fantastic when I was struggling to get through, just so passionate about recovery.

I was recommended PCP by another friend who is a a year sober and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.

I’ve friends who have been in the priory, great beds and a chef…. But sadly this didn’t keep many of them sober. The brutality of addiction was not watered down in PCP… a clear message with a solution.

Thanks PCP!

Excellent therapy for recovery

PCP proved their experience and dedication to all clients can help individuals to live a happy and fulfilling life. The families are also well updated throughout their loved ones journey. My brother in law always talks highly of the therapy he received there which has now put him in the right direction in life and we are so grateful to everyone who supported him.

Light at the end of a very dark tunnel

We were completely lost in what to do when we found out my brother was substance misusing. We didn’t have much knowledge about what to do and after researching found out about the Perry Clayman project. We are so so glad to have found this place.. right from picking him up to counselling, accommodation, treatment and a massive support group there for him he was well looked after and is now on the road to recovery! Finally light at the end of a very dark tunnel. Thank you to PCP for saving him and bring happiness and peace back in our family! we can’t thank you enough for what you did for him 😀

My son was in the midst of addiction…

My son was in the midst of addiction for over 15 years. He had been to a few rehabs prior to me making the difficult decision to send him to Luton for 12 weeks. Due to his addiction we weren’t speaking so he wasn’t welcome back to my house. Their supported housing project also helped make my decision easier as I knew he had accommodation after. It has been now over a year since he left. He is still clean and sober. He has completely changed. He’s giving back where he can and today I have my son back. Thank you PCP

Can’t recommend these guys enough

Can’t recommend these guys enough. After a 15 year long heroin and crack addiction this place saved my life. If you’re in a place where you don’t want die but you don’t want to live either and you’re willing to do whatever it takes to change then give them a call. I don’t know what I was expecting but I quickly understand it wasn’t a hotel, it’s not a luxury holiday, it’s a place to get well if that’s what I wanted to do. Sticking it out and doing what was suggested, which for me was staying longer than I intended and going on to do voluntary work with them before moving home to be with my children, give me a foundation of recovery to build my life on. Perry gave me a chance and employed me as night support even though he knew I wasn’t planning on staying in Luton. That opened the door to working as a support worker in my area and from that I’m now managing a recovery house, 4 years clean. All my children now live with me and I have a life beyond anything I could’ve imagined when I walked into PCP Luton broken, defeated and a shell of who I should’ve been. Can’t thank them enough.

I rarely write a negative review for…

I rarely write a negative review for anything but I feel I have to speak up in regards to this disgraceful so called rehab. They promise you the world and then deliver nothing but abuse and lies. Moreover, the CQC have now released their report, stating that they now unable to admit patients because of their lack of insight from management and other issues such ,as Covid19 compliance. Please avoid and go elsewhere to save yourself heartbreak and thousands of pounds.

It's a good service for people that…

It's a good service for people that need supports with the addictions maybe they come out of prison have alcohol issues of harming or whatever they have the help they need can be here there is no support for the weekly sessions as described in in the reviews or the initial contract setup I live in supported housing with PCP and it's maintained to a good standard twin extend I love three other people and we all get on great which is fantastic stuff because there's nothing like living with people and you don't get on with them or your personality is maybe clash or whatever reason but it's good for me living here in Leicester I know there are some places that are not so good we have a few repairs that needed to be done and we can message the landlord and he's fine about it he texts every so often to see how we are getting on we have a catch up every week or so so for a few minutes which is good and we all stick to the rules here there's no alcohol no drugs nothing like that which makes me feel like I'm safe I feel reassured about this I've got my own room the bed and the wardrobe will provide it and by having to purchase my table television from my previous house and various cleaning products which is not a problem we always chipping if you want to get some cleaning stuff like washing up liquid or bleach or something like that I know that children and Andre teens are not allowed the house and my friends sometimes come over maybe from 11 the morning they might stay till 1 p.m. I think that hours are from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. and then they have to leave I've never had anybody come over until 9:30 and they leave so I'm will within the rules but it's ok to live here it's on the main road so the traffic can sometimes be noisy but it's it's nice is comfortable it's clean we've got all the mod cons that we need the washing machine the dryer I've got a small garden that we can maybe do some work on when the weather gets better and the only thing we needed this place is the Wi-Fi haha it's not a problem because I've got loads of data but it can be an issue if you want to communicate with family members of a social media or something like that but Leicester city centre is only 10 minutes walk away and you can get through Wi-Fi there so it's good overall I would recommend PCP it's a good place to go if makes you feel safe and if you are just coming out of prison as I mentioned before it is not my situation message relation is severe mental health problems and addictions but if you have anything like this you're not going to be judged you are going to be made to feel welcome registration for this situation is very easy the landlord met me at a computer shop and we registered online and then he took me to see the property I got the keys on the same day and I was in my own place with my independence trying to get back control of my life if which made me feel a lot better and now I'm here 2 months on I'm feeling stronger I'm feeling better I'm looking maybe next month to try to get some volunteering going in my life or maybe some employment
