Terrible chiller, Terrible company, do not buy

Terrible chiller and overall system design. They will not post my review to their website, must be why they only have handful of reviews and nothing lower than 4 stars. They also delete comments on social media, it looks like they have blocked me after I tried to post my review several times and they don't allow the formal review of their business on facebook. I got premium chiller. Pump is not very good, it doesn’t have a stand alone electric heater for when it gets very cold outside temps. They use a heat pump, basically reversing the chilling function with a compressor, to heat water so basically useless at low temps especially near freezing and below freezing outside temps. To make it worse, the programing shuts the unit off at low temps so now you either have to drain it or modify it with another pump and electric heater. They told me to move inside and that is why chiller has wheels, though they advertise it as outdoor\indoor capable but obviously it’s only outdoor capable in places like San Diego, CA; ideal mild weather conditions. These are basic cold plunges functions that should be designed but bc primal doesn’t really know what they are doing they screwed it up. They advertise it having a heater but it doesn’t. I received an email from them explaining how the heater works, and it instructed I had to place in heat mode and set at 113F for it to turn on. This isn't even how it works. The chiller auto senses when to turn on based on the actual water temperature, at a temperature diff higher than set point chiller tuns on, at a temperature diff lower than set point, heat pump turns on. A heat pump is possible on all chillers, just like standard HVAC units for your home, its the reverse function of the AC. A functional heater on a cold plunge would be like the emergency heat on a hvac, a stand alone electric heater used at low temps to prevent the heat pump function of the hvac from breaking down prematurely in near freezing temps (in case of a cold plunge, it would be used at freezing temps to prevent the water in tub, plumbing, and chiller from freezing). Therefore they are misleading in advertising at best saying it has a heater, since their heat pump cannot operate at even colder air temps approaching freezing much less freezing and sub freezing air temps. Their return policy is garbage bc its only 30 days and if you buy in warm weather you won’t find out their design flaw until cold weather starts. Filter gets clogged fast & pump is weak so it becomes useless quickly. They instructed me to wash and it will last 4-6 weeks, however it gets clogged in less than a week, rinsing gets you a day before pressure is to low again to allow unit not to be cut off by programing. If the company had a clue they would have found this out in a testing process and could have fixed these issues however again they don’t know what they are doing. Next they don’t care either, once they have your money they are not going to give it back. They told me they are “forced” to go by their policy. A reputable company should recognize they have made a garbage product and fix it or reimburse you for their own incompetence. They may throw cheap filters at you but nothing meaningful. Shipping took forever, once chiller arrived it has a scratch and dent. The tub came quite a bit later separate from chiller, it was dirty with oily fingerprints on it. So dirty the filter clogged in just a day or two. It had extra parts and support didn’t know what they were used for. Do not make my mistake and fall for their BS on their website and vague answers to questions. It was like pulling fingernails to get them to send me a photo of the inside of the tub as well as provide other information, They are in for a quick buck and they have no clue what they are doing. Go with a reputable company that does research and testing and produces quality products. I thought about trying to salvage mine by getting a controller, separate pump for separate heater, and buy lots of amazon filters to make this thing work out. However, if they have no clue about basic proper design and function of a cold plunge, how safe could this thing possibly be. I am now worried about getting in this thing b/c it could be unsafe to use (does it have proper electrical bonding and grounding, will a short somewhere cause electric problems, will the seat break when I step in due to it not being very well installed/secured to tub base). If they cannot design basic features, I doubt they accounted for safety properly. See how much their cheap filters will cost you if you buy direct, that will demonstrate what they are really about (as of this review, $125 for 4 paper filters; amazon has them for ~$30). I wouldn’t be surprised this is just a fake shell company and once they get called out enough for their terrible product they change the brand and continue to rip people off.

We have a 2 year warranty - this is the first we have heard of damage, if you can send us some supporting imgs we will make this right promptly. Our 30 day return policy is limited to 30 days.
The chiller can be operated in freezing conditions, but it must be set in hot tub mode to avoid freezing over.

Chiller Broke- Instead of helping me…

Chiller Broke- Instead of helping me he jerked me around with silly requests for 2 weeks. Asking me leave it on for 8 hours and send a video- He wasted my time- Finally said he woudl send me a new compressor- I Knew he was lying so I found one and installed it myself- he never sent a new compressor.. I was dumb enough to believe he was trying to help me the 1st few days--...

The cedar tub is stunning

The cedar tub is stunning. The guys went to extreme lengths to get it delivered to my house safely in what ended up being a more complex delivery than they anticipated.

Prompt replies and Joe in particular was on the ball, followed up promptly and showed great concern and care. Thanks again

Primal ice bath for my gym

Initially I had a lot of problems with customs import tax etc and was disappointed.
But when primal ices customer service kicked in they did all they could to rectify the problems.
The product is excellent and has been an asset to my gym business.

Primal Ice set up is NOT easy

I purchased the Primal Ice Pro a few months ago. Although they state it is a 5 minute set up - it is not. They fail to mention that the hoses need to be heated to fit on the fittings. They fail to be clear about the extra parts. They fail to be clear about the pump and filter set up. The instructions lack a tonne of necessary information and I ended up calling in a plumber as I could not stop the leaks. The solution would be to send out a detailed, step by step video
- not one that says whack this here, poke that there and it hey presto. Problem number two - the chiller had in internal leak and after sending videos and photos as requested it took a phone call to the owner to get the issue resolved and they promptly send me a new chiller unit which works well. Third issue - again the lack of detail on the set up instructions is an issue. The filter was not filling up even after we primed it multiple times. I was informed by support that this was fine but I had concerns that the water wasnt being filtered (which it wasnt). Support sent me another video which again wasnt much help and seemed to leave details out. And after some head scratching we figured out how to solve the issue. Fourth issue - the filter is quite whiney. The chiller is noisier than I expected when it kicks in

Multiple times I had to call in people with plumbing knowledge to help and even they said the instructions were vague.
Now the Ice bath is finally set up it is holding temperature well. The bath seems well built but would be hesitant to recommend, which is a shame, as I was keen to support some young aussie guys and their business.

Hey Venessa, Sam here. I'm sorry that your unit got damaged in transport, we use the most reliable couriers but due to the nature of the product damage in transport can occur 1 in about 500. As i said when we spoke on the phone, we have a warranty process and because of the rarity of the situation it did take longer than i was happy with, hence the prompt replacement after we spoke. I hear your feedback regarding the setup - we have recently updated our chiller with a simplified design which now takes only 3 minutes, no matter how handy you are. I'm glad to hear your set up is working well if and i hope you get good use out of it!
I have gone ahead sent you 10 replacement filters to compensate for your experience.

Compact and Space-Saving

As a person living in a small apartment, I had space concerns. However, the Primal Tub’s small and compact design did not take a lot of space, while at the same time provided me with the performance needed in a bathroom.
