There is no less than one star
There is no less than one star. After waiting for a v. long time for the delivery, I was made to make a trip to the post office and charged to bring two large packages of 6 plants inside. Both large Olive trees leaves fell IMMEDIATELY. One died after a few months. The 2nd died a month ago. The sight and experience of seeing an olive tree naked and dying slowly is sorrowful. Two gardenia : One died immediately, the 2nd dried gradually and eventually died recently. The pomegranate is now dry and ugly with a completely deformed 'fruit' and no leaves. The two Jasmine : are doing well and both blooming w' very nice odour. There is no where to put my review on their site.
If I could give this shop and owner 0…
If I could give this shop and owner 0 stars, I would. Plants arrived dead. Email was written to the company. They wouldn't honor their refund policy. So, I got my cc to dispute the claim, which they did. Got the refund. Followed by an email from the company:
"Wish you and your family a lethal year. You deserve it thief"
I sent an email stating this was wildly inappropriate to the reply I received, verbatim:
We wish you and your family a lethal year. You are mental, and you are a thief. Besides, you're a 10-dollar sl*t. That means, being f'd is your prerogative - we recommend that you keep it as it's the only thing you can do at all in your pointless life.
If I could give Planteia NO stars
If I could give Planteia NO stars, I would. Thought I'd give them a go based on an Instagram ad they'd posted. Since this is a supposedly Canadian company, I wanted to give them my business and enjoy the convenience of ordering a houseplant online. What a HUGE mistake. I ordered an olive tree - largest one they had. The total cost was approximately $184.00 and it took them well over three weeks to ship it to me. The "Shop" app they partner with is completely inaccurate (at one point it said the olive tree had been delivered and it hadn't even been shipped yet). I followed up with Planteia several times via email (there is NO customer service phone number you can call) asking why there were delays. The responses were not particularly acceptable in my opinion - they were more like excuses. Eventually I asked for a refund (well BEFORE the olive tree arrived) but they would not provide a refund. The plant is dying as far as I can tell. It has a fine white particulate on most of the lower leaves, which I think is a blight of some kind, and it's been losing way too many leaves. I'm not over-watering it. It's in a full sun location where it needs to be. I've been growing houseplants for decades and know what I'm doing. DO NOT order from these people!!! Planteia is a major rip-off and I'll NEVER buy ANYTHING from them ever again. Don't waste your money - go to a garden centre that sells indoor houseplants instead.
Ordered twice from Planteia
Ordered twice from Planteia. First time everything was great.
Second time the Begonia arrived wrapped and shipped upside down next to the Pomegranate (a bigger plant).
The begonia was brown and dead, mushy and soft. Nothing alive on it at all.
I received my order Friday afternoon. I waited the weekend to contact Planteia. When I reached out to them Monday morning, I was told I waited too long and they offer no warranty.
They said it was my fault, I waited too long to contact them, and that perhaps I didnt know how to care for my plants and killed it.
Insisting that the plant arrived dead and I had no proof they even sent me something alive to begin with they just stuck by their no replacement warranty. I mentioned that I had yet to leave a review and they didnt seem to care one bit.
Incredibly rude, incredibly unprofessional. And horrible customer service overall.
Do no buy from this company unless you have money to throw away. And in today's day and age, who has money to throw away.
Support a local Greenhouse or Garden Centre instead. They usually stand behind what they sell.
My worst online shopping experiences.
One star for the people who grew the plants and carefully packed them. To keep this short - tropical bonsai plants arrived after an unexpected cold spell - had been held by UPS in -30 weather for 12 days. They arrived with the soil frozen solid. I sent a video showing the solid soil and the heat back which was frozen solid. They said - everything looks fine, with some insulting comments about me not providing objective evidence. I sent a photo of the thawed and completely dead plant the next day. I received abusive comments and an assurance that the plants were "perfectly healthy" and more abusive comments. Wish I had come to Trustpilot before ordering. It is sad because there is some effort from the plant growers and packers, but the company policy is obviously abuse and refuse. I wish I could upload a picture of the completely dead plant that they claim is "perfectly healthy". Please stay away from this horrid company.
DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE..AVOID THIS SITE
I would've looked passed the way the trees came packaged on their side somehow folded into eachother.. but no it's about principal.. I had an order consisting of 2 fruit trees..4 soil(8kg total) and a fertilizer that was supposed to be shipped.. out of my entire order i received everything except the fertilizer.. i have sent THREE emails.. and have not heard back. When my shipment was delayed and I emailed them they confirmed I would get it by that Friday.. and while they were right and I emailed them back thanking them I realized that my fertilizer was not shipped out to me (nor was I refunded). I really just wantrd an answer and my fertilizer. Their customer service based on my experience says they are 1star bc when they know they are wrong they do not like to respond with apologies and they dont like to correct their errors. I read a lengthy amount of negative reviews about this place but i only thought to check after my experience. Would've been nice to be able to say those reviews are just a few bad transactions or some picky customers (like i said I would've looked passed the packing of my trees..but once i am actually ripped off for something i paid for fair and square this isn't to far off from stealing)
ALSO IF YOU LOOK AT THEIR BETTER BUSINESS BEREAU (BBB) SCORE ITS NOT GOOD. and I'd say is accurate based on my experiences and all the reviews I read.

Appalling- I ordered a plant December 14 2025. No plant still at the end of January. I’ve emailed them 3 times to no avail. I cannot get any from of communication or tracking. I reported to my bank and planteia disputed the claim! The audacity of radio silence them denial. I will never use them again. I will tell people not to use them. Utterly unprofessional.
Terrible and unprofessional
1. Received a dead plant from this company.
2. Does not reimburse your purchase, will only replace the plant.
3. Does not answer emails in a timely manner. Usually must wait 5-7 days between emails.
4. Sent a rude email accusing me of being a liar and emotional after I sent a follow-up email 5 days after the original email.
5. Terrible customer service

Abismal Customer Service - I feel attacked
Absolutely terrible customer service that's haunting me with how aggressive the response was. I didn't know that the height of a plant includes it's pot and in response I was berated. Not worth it. I ordered from them out of convenience, but they are more expensive than a box store for that luxury, and the product is no better. Go elsewhere, save your money, and don't support poor business practice.
I’m disappointed with my recent order
I’m disappointed with my recent order. I placed it on August 9, but it wasn’t shipped until August 15—right before the weekend. This meant that my plants sat idle in the delivery network over the weekend, which is not ideal for live plants.
On top of that, Planteia shipped the order with Canada Post, a carrier that doesn’t deliver on weekends and often experiences delays. My package wasn’t even brought to my home but redirected to a post office, adding further delays.
Given the circumstances, I’m genuinely worried about the condition in which my plants will arrive. For a company specializing in shipping live plants, I expected better logistics and more reliable shipping choices.
They have an F rating on BBB
They have an F rating on BBB for a reason. They ignored my request to cancel an order that took over a year to ship as it was new technology. When it arrived it didn’t work and refused to send a shipping label for return. Most requests sent to customer service over the year were ignored. Unfortunately I don’t know how to add screenshots to this review for evidence, but the BBB has them.
I only wish I had stayed away
I only wish I had checked their reputation before ordering a 200$ plant. First excuses, took a month to ship, 6 days in transport and dead and limp on arrival. They were condescending, rude, and despite photos taken within minutes if unpacking and asking for a refund they accused ME of causing the plant’s condition. Refused refund repeatedly. Worst customer service ever! Toxic and downright abusive. Forced to try for refund through cc company and Pkanteia threatened they would ruin my credit rating!
Terrible Experience – Avoid Planteia!!!
Posting this here too as two profiles are showing up for Planteia.
I ordered a plant as a gift in December 2024 and was assured it wouldn’t be shipped until the weather was favorable (above +5°C). Despite this, the plant was sent on January 31st—during freezing temperatures—and arrived severely damaged due to shipping delays.
When I reached out to Planteia, I was met with deflection instead of accountability. They falsely claimed that I pressured them to ship, even though I explicitly said I was fine waiting until spring. After multiple frustrating email exchanges, their “solution” was to wait until March 2nd to see if the plant would regrow and offer a mere $35 plus shipping for a replacement.
The lack of responsibility, poor customer service, and unwillingness to rectify their mistake make this company one I cannot recommend. Save yourself the trouble and buy from a more reliable seller.
I wish I could attach all email exchanges here; you would be shocked how they responded. I even have screenshots of support chat. Such a nightmare!
False Advertising
I received two plants I ordered. They were delivered to my Post Office on Nov 7, 2024, I went the next day to pick up. The Lemon tree was doing good, but the pomegranate tree was dry and half of the leaves and fruit had fallen off. I thought that tree was stressed and that it would recover. After waiting a few days, it was showing no signs of recovery. I decided to re-pot. The plant was clearly root bound. I enclosed pictures on the day of arrival and of the root bound ball picture I took while re-potting. It was very apparent that the tree was over-due for re-potting and that is why it dried out during transport. I reached out to customer service and they refused to acknowledge that the plant was root bound. After reading the terms of their 100 % guarantee it became apparent that it has multiple loop holes. Their response to my email was rude and very defensive. Their website has 100's of 5 star reviews. However there was no place for me to post a review. If these reviews are genuine then they were hand picked, or maybe they had Good Business Practices at one distant time. They have no customer support and their website is full of false advertising.
Please read the negative reviews on this company
Came to post on here as well as the Canadian one as they changed the link on the Canadian trust pilot. Please read reddit reviews as know what you’re getting into. Also, look up planteia trustpilot reviews Canada for further reviews on this company.
Purchased a Philodendron Verrucosum because I wanted a BACKUP of a plant I already have.
I've done research on this plant extensively as I have an interest in botany and received a different plant. Thinking I might have been mistaken I took to the internet and asked others what they believed the plant to be (who have no personal interest in this) and they also believed this to be the wrong plant (Philodendron El Choco Red).
I explained my stance politely and why I believed this to be the wrong plant (thick, non ruffled leaves, crawling plant, no fuzzy petioles) and that I've checked with others including another plant seller, and compared with mine which was sold to me by a reputable seller (a nursery).
I was told there was basically no way they were wrong as their documents say Verrucosum and they've been "selling Verrucosums for over 15 years" (these plants were extremely hard to get a hold of until recent years) and they've never had an issue. Which could be the case but it only takes ONE shipment of the wrong plant to sellers (ie as the plant community has seen with Philodendron White Princesses). As well as the fact I have this plant already from another reputable company (that fits the descriptions of an Verrucosum to an T) and they look nothing alike, I was called disrespectful for even mentioning another company (no names were given).
They told me to find an independent (ie. not myself, not another seller, because WE basically can't be trusted.) analysis. For me to pay and get it analyzed for a $50 plant. Which is very unreasonable for a business. I've sent pictures of what I was sent and as a plant seller, I would have expected them to know that what I was sold was not what I ordered. Even the description of the plant l've given doesn't match up with the botanical description of a Verrucosum. Not only this, but the plant I was sent is not selling for $50, I’ve seen it for 15-25 CAD.
They offered for me to pay out of pocket to send the plant back (Canadian postage is extremely high and sending it back would be at least $25, more of tracked) and 25% restocking fee. (On a $50 plant, not worth sending back) They will not act on their "happiness guarantee" as they were not understanding and there wasn't even a
"sorry this wasn't the plant you expected" just straight out denied be wrong or wanting to help.
Unfortunately, trust pilot does not allow photos or I would post pictures of what I received (which were sent to planteia as well. vs my verrucosum and science based government sources as well.
As constructive feedback for the company overall. Please offer signed shipping for your potential future customers. I was at home luckily at the time and the mail person did not leave at door but the lock box on a hot day. If I had not been home, the plant would have been cooked.
Perhaps offering more than one shipping option with no information on what it actually is would be helpful.
False Claims, Faulty Products, Potential Legal Action
On January 23rd, Planteia aggressively denied my return request after I explained that the products did not work. I thought, “This has to be common with this company.”
Surely enough, the only available reviews (not turned off) are the ones on Reddit detailing the same issues: the belittling customer service and failure to meet their claims for severely damaged, broken, dead, or unsatisfactory products).
I was shocked to read screenshots on Reddit showing Planteia’s customer service representative harassing and disrespecting customers and even changing returning policies on their website overnight to avoid accountability.
For instance, when a customer stated that he would report them to the Better Business Bureau and dispute the transaction, the representative threatened him with a lawsuit and even said they would “warn the bank about his scams” and called him stupid, etc.
Of course, the customer was justified, as the plant he had ordered arrived dead, and comments flooded in about the same disrespect and threats from Planteia’s representatives and issues with Planteia’s failure to uphold their promises and claims.
Simply put, the Gardy plant monitors do not work. When I tried to explain this to Planteia’s customer service representative because they asked why (although their happiness guarantee claim stated, “Try Gardy—Smart Plant Care Sensor if you are unhappy with your purchase, RETURN it, NO QUESTIONS ASKED”), you can tell they became defensive by their response. However, the devices are either faulty or not ready for the consumer; I think they do not want to admit it to themselves.
I have tried to attach the happiness guarantee claim, as I screenshotted it before it was altered overnight, but I see no way to provide pictures.
Since I can not provide photographs or proof of denial via email, please read the comments on the fReddit posts as evidence of other victims.
* Finally, since I was denied a return and an ultimate refund, I discarded the products as they did not work. When I discarded the products, I made the Planteia customer service representative aware that I would be disputing the charges and reporting them to the Better Business Bureau as their claims have not been upheld (for anyone, apparently). But today, after I had filed the dispute (yesterday) and discarded the Gardys, I received a threatening email saying that I could FINALLY return them. Still, they would inform my bank and put me in a fraud database if they were not received.
How do I stop them from enlisting me in this fraud database? We (myself and the other victims) are not frauds and should not be defamed!
Should I even worry since their reputation with the bank is likely already incredible with all the other disputes and BBB ratings, projecting their fraudulent behaviour on honest customers?
Do not buy from the company
Do not buy from the company. I purchased a small indoor tree and it came with a very persistent fungal infection. I had to treat all of my plants. When I requested a refund they refused to honour their warranty. Terrible service and outcome.
