Took advantage of our emergency and failed to mention the hourly rate on the phone as well as all of the extra hidden fees. Almost £600 charged for replacing a washer (about ten minutes work) because it was a Sunday. Absolute madness.
Absolute thieves
Absolute thieves. Took advantage of my mum by confusing her, charged extortionate prices for simple parts. Wasted time by extending the job that should have taken 30 mins to 5 hours! With an hourly rate of 329, we could have had a whole new bathroom fitted for the cost of close to £3000 just to fix a leaking bath trap. AVOID.
Do not use this company
Complete rip off, no matter what they tell you hourly rate is £280. Do not use this company.
If I could give 0 stars I would
If I could give 0 stars I would. Luckily I worked out that these guys were robbing B#####ds early on and avoided being taken for over £2000.00 for a fairly simple fix. I sent the lady at the office … (if there even is an office )images of the parts that were needed and asked if the plumber would have them on his van… Was clearly told YES !
During the call out I was told he did not actually have the parts at all and he said it would take up to two hrs to get them at the cost of £300 per hr 😳 there is a City plumbing store at the top of the road !
He sat in his car in my yard for 15mins doing nothing which technically would have cost me £75. When he did finally leave I followed him up to City plumbing with a different jumper on and took my glasses off, then stood in the shop right next to him while he ordered the parts. I recorded him on my phone saying “the client is crazy” and that he was going to take three hrs to do the work ( even though he had previously told me it would take an hour) I am sure this was because I had questioned that the parts for the job would cost £1000.00 as he had told me before he left and the reason why I followed him to the plumbers merchant in the first place.
There was only one part that the supplier did not stock but the bill for the rest came to £147.60 inc VAT ,on my phone I recorded the plumber clearly being quoted this price then waited for him to leave the shop. 2mins later I called him and asked how much the parts were that he had ordered and was told over £300 and he still needed to get more !
I twice asked him to clarify that this was for the bits he had ordered from City plumbers and he said yes. I then said “ are you sure they were not £147.60 … the idiot still said no it comes to over £300
I then told him he was a liar and that I was in the shop at the time and recorded the whole conversation. By this time I had gone outside to confront him by his car where he started to get very irate and angry but obviously did not have a leg to stand on when shown the recording. I then said that there was no way I could trust them to do this job and so he got in his car and drove off. I had a call from the office trying to charge me £300 for the time he had already taken which I refused to pay and explained what had happened.
BE REALLY CAREFUL WITH THESE DISHONEST INDIVIDUALS, AS SOON AS YOU CALL THEM OUT YOU ARE IN DANGER OF BEING MUGGED OFF. THEY MAKE FORTUNES PRAYING ON PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALREADY HAD A DISASTER HAPPEN IN THEIR PROPERTY AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO OPPERATE. SHOCKING !!!
Don't touch with a barge pole

Also known as 24hr engineers. 64 Aider Crescent Luton LU31TH address. Along with all of the other reviewers we got sucked in by this cowboy of a company with a low(ish) £69 call out fee. In the end they charged us £69 + £349 ph (for 15 mins work) + 20% of the bill AGAIN as admin ???? plus £68 for the equipment they used. Plus the VAT
All in all £645 to unplug a sink.
It is the most outrageous company i have ever experienced, underhand, on the edge of legal - one star is too much. Only given it so i can leave this review.
OMG I JUST PAID £1,328 TO AN ENGINEER…
OMG I JUST PAID £1,328 TO AN ENGINEER TO FIT A TAP ON MY BATH. He did provide the tap.
THE JOB TOOK 3.5 HRS AS THAT'S HOW THEY GET YOU BY TAKING THEIR TIME.
He started talking time and money as soon as he arrived.
THEY DON'T SEND YOU THE CONTRACT TO READ UNTIL THEY ARRIVE AT YOUR HOME AND KNOW YOU WANT/NEED THE JOB DONE.
HE ALSO SAID HE WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE ME WHEN I ASKED HIM TO CLEAN THE MESS HE LEFT ON THE FLOOR. HE TOLD ME TO CLEAN IT.
ALSO LEFT DAMAGED TILES WHERE HE HAD TO REMOVE THE BATH PANEL, BUT REFUSED TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY.
DREADFUL MANNER.
THE COMPANY REFUSED TO DISCUSS THE BILL WITH ME WHEN I PHONED TO DISCUSS THE LARGE AMOUNT I WAS BEING CHARGED.
I PAID THEM THE MONEY JUST TO GET RID OF THEM AS THEY ARE SO FRUSTRATING TO DEAL WITH.
ASK THEM TO SEND THE CONTRACT BEFORE THEY ARRIVE.
Avoid!!
One word - Don't! Don't get suckered in by the reasonable call-out fee. Work conducted is at an eye-watering £289 per hour. However, those are the costs you know about. What's far worse are the costs you don't know and which you aren't allowed to find out. The engineer will tell you about the hourly fee. He will then pressurize you into signing the contract, saying he can't start work until you sign it, and reminding you that the clock is ticking on the hourly fee. When you receive your final invoice you discover items such as £45 for "materials" (there were none), £200 for jetting machine (ie. part of plumbing and using my water anyway) and £176 for an "admin fee" (ie. taking a phone call and producing an invoice). The final bill was just under £1,300 for just under two hours work. The engineer won't leave your premises until you pay it. Everything is conducted under an atmosphere of duress and pressure. So just avoid. If you had time to read the contract you wouldn't agree it anyway.
Avoid these cowboys I was charged £300…
Avoid these cowboys I was charged £300 for basically taking off the cover of my boiler. All the person and I won’t call him a plumber or any discrimination but person because he had no clue as to what he was doing. He actually made more of a problem left with a leaking boiler. I had to call another company to sort out the problem. Please do avoid this company I am in the process of getting legal advice this company actually make you sign a contract before they even look at the problem then they can charge whatever they want. I am an elderly person and was completely ripped off😡
AVOID
AVOID, AVOID. Worst experience of my life asked for a temporary fix to a burst pipe and did not even resolve it then charged £800 left the property with no heating or water. Complained and they said I told them to stop the work. Yes because they could not fix it. Called another engineer and resolved it in less than the time for the original engineer to leave me without hot water.

I feel like I have been robbed...
I feel like I have been robbed...
I called this company via a website IP.24h-plumber.co.uk (it was the first to come up when I searched 'Plumber Tottenham') and agreed for the plumber to attend to fix a leak coming from the washing machine. On arrival I was told it would be a £60 call out fee and an hourly rate of £265. As he was now on site and I had no eyes on the issue at hand (it was in a rented property) I instructed him to commence the work and asked for a estimate as to how long it would take - he was very unclear and said it could go over an hour and maybe two hours total. He continued working on it until I told him to stop and charged me £1994.00 for the five hours he said it took him (£277 of which was an admin fee).
I refused to pay this amount as I had been invoiced for 'unblocking a pipe', which did not require 5 hours' work. The 'plumber' then stayed in the apartment for a further three hours refusing to leave until I had paid the full amount with his office. The lady I spoke to form the office was very aggressive and called me over 20 times after I told her I was not prepared to pay the full amount demanded. I ended up paying £708 for two hours work plus call out fee and VAT and said I would be challenging the rest in the small claims court (I have since been quoted about £250 for this to have been completed).
I've now received a further invoice of £2049.60 as they have charged me for the amount of time the plumber was staying in the apartment afterwards refusing to leave (he eventually left after the police had been called). They are now going to take me to the small claims court to recover their full amount.
These guys are scammers. PLEASE AVOID.
I had an extremely disappointing…
I had an extremely disappointing experience with Oncallengineers UK, and I would strongly advise others to avoid this company altogether.
I contacted them for urgent assistance to identify and arrest the source of a water leakage, which was causing ongoing damage and stress. From the very beginning, their approach felt rushed and unprofessional. Instead of properly investigating the issue or offering a clear solution, they showed little to no technical understanding or genuine interest in resolving the problem. The visit felt like a box-ticking exercise rather than a serious attempt to help.
What stood out most was that the company appeared to be far more interested in making money than providing effective support. Charges were demanded promptly, yet the service delivered was inadequate and incomplete. The leakage was neither properly diagnosed nor stopped, leaving me in the same position as before—but poorer.
Communication was another major failure. After payment, emails were ignored, follow-ups went unanswered, and there was no accountability or after-service support. When customers are facing urgent property issues, timely communication is essential, but Oncallengineers UK showed a complete lack of professionalism in this regard.
There was no ownership of the problem, no explanation, and no effort to put things right. The absence of customer care is shocking, especially for a company that markets itself as reliable and responsive.
Overall, this has been a frustrating and costly experience with zero value for money. If you are dealing with a leak or any urgent maintenance issue, do not rely on this company. There are far better, more responsible service providers out there who actually care about solving problems rather than just collecting fees.
I would not recommend Oncallengineers UK under any circumstances.
Do not use
Do not use! Do not trust. Outrageous pricing. Charged £450 to turn my boiler off to make it “safe”.
Didn’t even fix the problem.
Used my routine plumber next day who was disgusted by the invoice from these cowboys. He fixed for £75.
Stay away!
Clear scammers, avoid at all costs
I should’ve known to be suspicious from the insistence on not telling me an hourly rate over the phone, but when your house is flooding and you have pets to worry about the safety of, you’re panicked. I also should’ve spotted the fake Trustpilot button on the website and the alternate company name too, I’m not sure how any of that can be legal.
£320+ an hour without parts, and hiking up the call-out fee when paying through transfer- also not legal, obviously, and they should have quoted the full rate over the phone. I don’t know much about plumbing but I have had much more extensive work done at a far lower hourly rate, even accounting for the fact that this would be considered an “emergency.”
Got £80 for a 30 min drive, I bet they’re delighted.
Definitely AVOID
Definitely AVOID. Great work but insane prices and they overcharged me on materials and time. Work was done under an hour, plumber wrote a 2 sentence report for 15 minutes. They charged me two hours of fees when already the job was done. 500!!!!! For less than 1 hour of total work+ engineer walking to his car+ unknown materials+ writing a fake report
Absolute crooks
Absolute crooks. Wanted to charge me £315 for s job they couldn't do. After they told me call out fee was £69. I refused to pay the full price.
I am elderly with little savings
I am elderly with little savings but this company used £2.000 to sort a problem that should have taken 2hrs but it was New Yesrs Eve and my sink was blocked.
This company should NEVER be used by anyone as they are not trustworthy
The’nice plumber ‘ (Leo) is involved with the scam although he pretended to be outraged by what I was being charged. We waited nearly an hour for the ‘contract’ to be sent for me to sign before work was started and an hour at the end for the invoice to be sent through.
Leo wouldn’t leave until it was paid and even took a photo ) just in case I cancelled payment when he left.Shame on this company.. shame on the owners .
Pathetic service
Pathetic service. Lied about the price on the call and charged me over £500 for a small fix. Avoid them!
Steer well clear: unprofessional, unethical and racist
Extremely unprofessional and unethical business. On the phone they told me it’s £60 call out charges, usually that includes at least the first half hour. They sent me an extremely impolite and abrupt engineer who blocked our driveway and refused to move his van when my husband told him he had to go to work and move his car out.
He then proceeded to take half an hour with a job that literally took five minutes. And then tried to convince me to have him redo the service of our boiler that had only been done a month ago to extend the time he spent at our house.
The charges turned out to be £60 call out plus £235/hr. The hourly rate was never mentioned on the phone or the website.
One extremely disturbing thing was that he handed me his phone to enter my email address for the invoice in a chat with his office. He had told them I was ‘Asian’ and followed it up with ‘let’s hope’.
I found that extremely offensive, asked him to leave my house and wait in his van for the payment to go through. I contacted their office to ask what my ethnicity had to do with my boiler and why was that even discussed between them, they never replied.
In retrospect the disrespect, the abrupt manners most likely had a racist aspect to it.
I didn't receive terms and conditions…
I didn't receive terms and conditions until 2they arrived £269 per hour plus vat .
I hour and 1min classed as 2 hours.
All they told me when I phoned was that it was £69 call out. And that's all you get
