Fair and transparent pricing, with privacy at its core
I previously used Legal Zoom to create my companies in NYC. Northwest blows them out of the water in the following important ways
1. Clean address privacy with mail forwarding for everything important at a much more reasonable rate
2. Handles publication at a very, very reasonable price (would take 13 years of their $125/year registered agent fee to match the publication cost when using legal zoom)
3. Clear and helpful proactive communication to ensure that everything is in order and compliant.
With their competitors they try to do everything and do nothing well. Especially in NY which has wild and honestly outdated compliance requirements. They are also upfront about everything as you go through the process and don't charge you any hidden fees and every upsell is a legitimate value (e.g. $50 to handle EIN filing if you are lazy)
Contrasting this with LegalZoom I was pushed into a $35/mo address subscription without agreeing to it and would have to manually amend all my paperwork to remove it. They also put that address in Kings County and refused to initiate the publication process with the county clerk (in Kings you need to publish to papers selected by the county clerk. At least according to them). Overall they took a lot of $ and created head aces that didn't need to exist.
If you want a service that does one thing and does it well, without scamming you. Northwest is the best option.

Poor Communication
I’m very dissatisfied with the customer support I’ve received from Northwest Registered Agent. Communication has been extremely poor. They do not proactively call or email with updates, and I have repeatedly had to be the one reaching out to find out what is happening with a service I am paying for.
I was told my webpage draft would be completed within a certain timeframe, but after nearly two weeks I still had not received it or any communication explaining the delay. When I finally reached out to ask what was going on, I was told the issue was that my website was four pages long. That information was incorrect.
What is most frustrating is that if someone had simply contacted me when there was supposedly an issue, it could have been clarified and resolved much earlier. Instead, there was no communication, and I am still left waiting for my webpage draft.
When a customer is paying for a service, they should not have to continuously chase the company for updates. At minimum, I expected timely communication, transparency, and follow-through. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience.

They file annual renewal w/o consent and charge $100 for the service you could do yourself online in few clicks.
To unsubscribe, there is an option that is vaguely stated: "Renewal"; it's not registered agent renewal, but the annual filing.

Ray at Northwest Registered Agent is the best customer service agent. I had to file for a cancellation of an LLC I had just formed. Ray took the time to check with the back office, called me back twice within the hour, and made sure the cancellation was done correctly. Because of Ray I was not charged the big fee by Secretary of State. He is friendly, kind and patient. Thank you Ray!

The first reply took a day
The first reply took a day, no pro then dead silence. The next reply took several days. Then I tried a phone call. She said she would be on it. More silence! I complained, asked for help. Their latest reply came fro my only email to them, "Our general support inbox can take a little longer to reply to." Silly apologies. The agent left our her name and phone extension, so if this is their general inbox, then I'm not going to find that agent again amongst their nationwide network!
This isn't my first rodeo. It's my last before 100% retirement. This was a 100% failure of care, dealing with a potential customer. I moved on, found a smaller, hungry competitor. I wfote them a last leter stating their exec's need to see this letter and the ones this last 3-4 weeks. I gave them a single star. I wish I could have given them a fat zero!
