Scammed!! Astrid called saying she was working with the class action law suit to help obtain the overcharges I was billed. She NEVER said she was working for NA Bancard. When I asked why I needed to change my credit card machine, she said it was to monitor what I was being charged. After I rec'd the new machine, I called tech support to see when my batches would be coming in. They asked for my merchant number and when I gave it to them, they said it was wrong and proceeded to give me a new merchant number. This was the first indication that they switched my processor, which was through Costco and is the ONLY company that does not charge me fees when my business is closed for the season. Astrid assured me that after talking with the manager, they agreed that they would not charge me when I was not open. I was still mad at the underhanded way they went about to obtain my business, but after all the trouble to get this done, I figured I would try them out. But, then the held my weekend receipts because they exceeded some cap they had, which really upset me. At that time, I called Costco and they told me I was still active in their system, so I went ahead and changed back to them. The underhanded way they went about obtaining my business really infuriated me and I really did not want to do business with such a devious company. Also, all the transactions are ran as credit, no debit, for which we pay a higher fee. After reading all the reviews, I know I made the right decision to not continue doing business with them. They only give you 10 days to return the equipment and told me I would receive a UPS label to send the equipment back, but after waiting 3 days, I just packaged it up and sent it back.
Mike Hook-Venini at GoChyp is a dishonest person. He promised me no fees, I paid fees. He promised me software and devices that worked, that was not the case. The best part of all of this is that he REFUSED to close my account until I sent back his bluetooth card swipers (ummm, okay). SO we sent them back with tracking, they were received and he still refuses to close my account and has even been so kind as to increase the fees on my account. (passive aggressive much?)
If you have a business, stay far away from GoChyp. They will pretend like they offer customer service, but trust me, when you want to go a different direction, Mike Hook-Venini, in particular, becomes a very salty, unprofessional human. No one deserves to be treated unprofessionally, nor does a business owner have time for that.
North AMerican Bankcard is GoChyp's processing company and they are aware of this guy being unprofessional. I will be sending them a formal complaint as well. I guess if they want a person like this representing their brand, it's up to them.
I attempted to open a merchant processing account on May 31, 2024 a the insistence of their business partner, Sekure Payment Experts. Our partner contact - Ross Taylor - indicated that I would receive “Friend and Family” pricing, and he’d personally have the account approved. I placed the application via his “best sales rep” Brittany Bedard.
On Monday June 3, 2024 I received an onboarding text asking for copies of my ID and photographs of myself. I complied and then was sent an email stating that the account was denied due to information from Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion.
A string of phone calls were made to North American Bancard’s “Small Business Underwriting” group who told me that they simply needed to verify me based on the fraud alert telephone number on the account. While I complied with their request multiple times, the account still stayed declined - despite “the department director” saying they would open it.
When discussing this matter with Ross Taylor he became agitated that I would reach out to North American Bancard directly - as he was my “trusted payment expert” and he’d personally ensure that Sekure would “back this account” and get it approved. Ross had already made multiple slanderous accusations regarding my character, and the character of my business that he attributed to North American Bancard. Additionally, as a partner of Sekure, our company had already dealt with multiple issues Sekure had created with our referred customers - so I decided to deal directly with North American Bancard.
The account was not opened, and despite claiming their sources of information - North American Bancard gave no valid Adverse Action Notice. Ross Taylor’s claims that Sekure Payment Experts would override the approval on this account were - in fact - false, and it seems he actually sabotaged the account when I took the matter to their CEO Misha Artzy and Frank Dalphond.
Do not do business with North American Bancard or Total Merchant Services. I canceled my account and returned my terminal, with pictures of the box and a verified UPS signature and they claim they didn't receive it. This is a terrible company by terrible people. Very rude as well.
In less than one month North American Ban Card (trying to sound like Bank Card) Charged me over $12,000.00 in excessive processing fees. I managed to get back about $4,000.00. They just sent me a 1099 saying that it was income. So we reported them to the Feds. This is not a ligimate co. Many many complaints.
This is a scam! This company takes tons of monthly fees without me knowing. They are the worst, don't sign up with them. They will eat up all your profits. They should be arrested!
Their customer services / risk reps are either lazy or incompetent or both. We had a credit card customer charge $24,000 on their card as down payment on a product. NAB put a hold on this because of "risk", the card and charge was perfectly valid and legitimate. First we had to submit the invoice for the product, then 3 months of our bank statements, then an email from the customer confirming the transaction, etc. It has a been 8 days since we should have received our money, maybe we will never get it. The money has been removed from the customer's account, where is it? This is the second time this has happened in a year with NAB. The first time they put a hold on $120,000 for multiple transactions for 2 weeks for no valid reason. We do $3M in CC transactions a year and have been in business 18 yrs, and no other CC processor (we have had 3 previously) has ever done this. Their customer service reps are incompetent or maybe they were told by their management not to give customers their rightful money.
Avoid ProMerchant and North American Bancard 🚫
Dear Business Community,
I feel compelled to issue a strong warning against using ProMerchant and North American Bancard based on a harrowing experience that not only disrupted our operations but also jeopardized our future banking relationships.
After being inaccurately accused of exceeding a $40,000 processing limit with $56,000 in transactions—while our actual volume was around $33,000—our funds of approximately $23,000 were frozen. Despite providing bank statements to prove our case, our account was inexplicably closed, citing our inability to "sustain the cash flow," a baseless and poorly explained reason. 😡
Though they eventually released our funds, the closure of our account was done without just cause. This action has a severe repercussion: it places us on the MATCH list, significantly hindering our ability to secure a new merchant account with any reputable bank. This outcome, through no fault of our own, puts us in a precarious position, highlighting a gross mishandling by ProMerchant and North American Bancard. 🚫
The initial promise of support from ProMerchant quickly dissolved into inaction, leaving us to navigate these challenges independently. This lack of support and the subsequent consequences of their actions reveal a startling disregard for customer care and professional ethics. 🤥💔
Our experience is a stark illustration of the critical importance of choosing a merchant services provider that operates with integrity, transparency, and respect for its clients. ProMerchant and North American Bancard's conduct—incorrectly freezing funds, unjustified account closure, and the consequential risk of being blacklisted—underscores a profound lack of business ethics.
I urge you to consider this warning seriously if you're in the process of selecting a merchant service provider. Your business deserves a partner that supports your growth and respects your financial stability, not one that jeopardizes it on baseless grounds.
Protect your business's future by choosing a provider with a proven track record of reliability and fairness.
After several years, North American Bancard suddenly started charging additional fees that were not agreed to in my contract. I promptly cancelled my service as I did not agree to the new charges. They continue to send me past due notices and adding additional fees to the alleged past due balance. This company has awful customer service and poor billing practices!
Nothing that their sales rep promised was true! This is a scam company. We were told that we could cancel at any time with no charges. They keep trying to collect $300+, but we have them on a stop payment basis, so they can STUFF IT!
STAY AWAY! THESE GUYS ARE SCAMMERS!
I have a lot of businesses and have worked with many credit card processing companies, but never have I dealt with such an unethical company.
They constantly hit you with hidden fees, so you have to review your monthly statements very carefully every time.
Also note, that they lock you into a 3 year contract, which is unheard of, and charge you a $650 early termination fee! They never express that in the many conversations before switching to their service, but bury it in the fine print of the contract.
They avoid putting any of their lofty promises and commitments into emails, and every time you want to discuss something, they call you, or tell you to call them.
Additionally, their monthly statements are so messed up, because there are too many hidden fees, that they can't even explain it, and simply brush you off.
They overcommit on the rates they can get in order to lock you in, and then in reality the rates they provide are average.
And to top it off, they curse at you when you tell them that you want to stop their services...
Stay far away!
DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY! Utilize a company like Stripe or Square and save yourself the headaches and expenses! Even with Stripe having much higher processing rates, you never pay a monthly fee or anything like these people do. Not only are the fees a concern, when you cancel they will make it seem like you will be getting a refund and then turn your account immediately into collections and then make it completely impossible to have your account reviewed.
I called North American to reconnect as I was originally a successful agent with them years ago. I highly recommend you avoid them. Their level of customer service is a joke now and they have no empathy for their customers or agents. In addition, they closed my merchant account with no explanation costing me thousands of dollars. Finally, they put me on some list that prevented me from opening future merchant accounts. They cited no wrongdoings on my part just their right to close my account at will. They appear to work with Humboldt Bank now. I guess Humboldt isn't concerned about their reputation. Do a Google search and see all the complaints and negative issues with North American Bancard.
We, like the other companies and customers that have posted negative reviews of North American Bancard, have been subjected to conduct we believe to be fraudulent, unlawful and unethical -- and wish we had consulted Trustpilot before choosing to do business with them. We have already sent a Demand Letter to Bancard and the partner it used in its dealings with us, ProMerchant, which describes their transgressions in detail. In sum, however, they subjected us to the same type of unfair business practices that are described in the other reviews - notably untruthfully claiming that they work well and efficiently with small companies; breaching their purported contract with us ( a copy of which they refused to send to us until we repeatedly demanded it); made promises and representations and then breached them after we had gone to considerable time and effort in reliance on those statements; and have impounded and refused to release thousands of dollars in proceeds paid to our company by one of our customers through Bancard's credit processing services -- all without justification and even after repeated demands by us that they release those funds. We of course fired terminated Bancard's services based upon their misconduct within two weeks, but the company continues to refuse to release the proceeds paid by our customer. We have notified the Better Business Bureau of Bancard's misconduct, and hope it will have some effect the the inexplicable "A+" rating they have given the company.
I am so happy I left them. They are the greediest credit card processing company out there. You have to watch them constantly. They are NOT to be trusted EVER. They manufacture things to debit your checking account. It is outrageous what they do.
North American Bancard is by far the most disgusting and disrespectful company I have ever dealt with my entire life. I wish I have read these reviews before I got stuck with them. They opened and approved the application after their agent called us and promised us lower rates, two weeks later, they closed the account and held over $70,000 for 120 days for possible chargebacks. Worst of all of that, they charge our bank account for every chargeback while holding $70. Also, they don’t let us refund any customers or cancel any orders telling us that let the customers dispute the charges.
Finally, they are charging us for two payment gateways Authoriz.net and NMI gateway while we were using only NMI gateway.
Luckily, my brother works for the FTC and promised to wipe out these scammers of the planet earth. It is enough.
Anyone who got scammed by this company, please file a complaint with the CFPB and they will forward it to the FTC.
Ask your merchant services provider if you see this name bankcard don't open an account. They stole $8000 from me, they closed my account without any explanations or notice causing me to lose money after I shipped my products. Avoid this it is fraud.
