Worst bank
Worst bank, no customer service. Closed local branch so I have travel to Sutton, there is no counter service.
Have to queue up to register, then wait for normally around an hour just to draw out cash because I need certain denominations and the staff are bad tempered and abrupt. Time to change bank I think.
Ive been a customer for 36 years but…
Ive been a customer for 36 years but recently note their care for their customers and understanding towards customers with disabilities is poor. From the mass closure of their branches to their online platform and frustrating chat bot who sends you round in circles, their ability to cater for people with any specific learning disability or learning need is non existant. I am now on my second attempt to open a business account as my account application expired because I needed to do an action they had failed to text me about. They had texted me, however, about another business account I had requested to come out of as a mandate and sent me a text to another person who is mandate of that account, yet failed to text me to tell me they had emailed me about this account need. I've been waiting unaware since July for that account to open- despite banking already with them and seeing no messages on my account about this and now consequently have to wait another 30 plus days to open a business account. I had the same ongoing issues when I opened a business bank account for the food hub I used to run and spent months calling up and almost 5 months passed until we were able to add our treasurer onto our food hub bank account! They're 30 day system is terrible and I believe this is deliberately happening as they are understaffed and it is a way to reduce their work load. I really dislike this and wonder how other people are fairing with this complicated online message system. I just want to go in and speak to somebody and quicky open a business bank account. Despite banking with them for all other business, I shall be going elsewhere now as I cannot afford to have this stress and wait whilst simply needing to set up a business bank account. If you need a helpful business set up AVOID NATWEST!
Horrible bank
Horrible bank, terrible customer service. Dodgy company banking. Never choice this scammers
Always have trouble with this outfit
Always have trouble with this outfit, if its not retrning the money or the FCA rules for returning money, it being held to ransom or the money being used as ransom until I do what they want, or nor and even then not producing a SAR neither two years ago or now despite the ICO rules saying otherwise, not making the SAR or any other piece of information 'accessible' - again the ICO rules - instead sending to what is to their liking, not just to my liking ie via email to myself, at branch claiming that certain ifo ie transaction history would be sent to myself at my email address but they had other thoughts at the call centre and sent hard-copy, the call centre staff ending the call repeatedly as they was not having the call they wantes, and supervisors when told disbelieving that the call centre staff are there for anything other than helping when the call centre staff clearly think they are there to keep their job and you are going to do what it take in that goal, with this in mind the supervisor said to myself when told ''If' this is happening...'.
Clealrly there are better banks - not much I grant, just dont join do any banking with them, keep money in your account, or believe anything the calll centre staff say.
Log in failed re-register scam?
Log in failed, system lost my details.
I tried to login and found that my details were not recognised. I tried a few times by code and card . It told me to call which was the usual delays and never got to an agent so time wasting.
I know my input was correct and I was asked to re-register. Why? Was it a scam? who knows.
Canterbury Branch
Canterbury Branch
I needed to go in as I was struggling with online banking the guys there could not help me enough gave me all the time I needed to explain things and make sure I was happy.
Now using their accounting software and their online software it has made everything easier than it was before
Robbed me of £12 when it’s their fault
Charged me £12 late payment on a transfer between my own accounts I hold with them
I’ve held these accounts with them for 20 years and this is the first time I’ve been charged for late payment when it’s their fault because they closed the bank on Saturday the 1st August and I have always had a standing order for the 2nd day of the month
All other banks give a text notification 24 hours before but they decided without any notificatiion to take £12 from me
I’m now closing all accounts with them

Been left in limbo between NatWest and…
Been left in limbo between NatWest and the retailer I am seeking a refund with. NatWest customer services do not explain the issue nor do they appear to make any progress or effort to resolve this with the retailer to get their customers money back. The issue is the card dispute team do not talk to customers. Appalling to be told I have to wait to October even when the retailer has agreed to process the refund
I’m writing on behalf of 2 family…
I’m writing on behalf of 2 family members, my brother who lives abroad and needed a new credit card. It has only arrived today at my parents house in the Borders.
My Dad has had to wait in for 5 days with updates from my brother.
My brother has had numerous calls to NatWest. Cards were promised then cancelled. A same day delivery was promised. This came to nothing. My brother Ed has had nothing but erroneous, false information and been dealt with contemptuously by the attitudes and service rendered by NatWest staff recently.
As a result of this contemptuous attitude and the wasted time and inconvenience to my brother and Dad who has had to wait in for the cards, I recommend prospective customers not to bank with Natwesf.
If I could give 0 stars
If I could give 0 stars, I would. Humans there are nice, but that's because not many queries get to them. The bots they use are an absolute nightmare and can bring you to a dystopian verge. They recorded my address incorrectly. Terribly long delivery times for cards. Impossible to find information. Biggest mistake to ever get a card from them. They should shut down for good.
Just be aware folks.
Just be aware folks.. another zero star for these discriminating unprofessionals .. NatWest Epsom is a disgrace and its staff has zero sense of customer expectations. And that they only listen to, retain selective information from customer queries accordingly repeats same information like programmed robots even contradicts their own remote teams. Clearly broken links in the basic process of banking.I and my wife were very negligently treated this weekend as we were there to verify some documents that they needed us to bring in to process our new account application (having done 3 times online and twice been to the branch) partially approved online. However branch staff were so negligent from the start and continued to insist that these things are not done in branch even after repeatedly showing them the proof of their so called Digital Team’s email invitation with reference to go in to a branch with in 14days. They ended up telling us off and also dragging their regular/familiar/ favourite customers too in to it to prove their invalid point & behaviour and went on to prove that we are a distress and therefore just by mimicking us and telling off and threatening to call police. Also getting some random walk pass by person to tell us that we are bullies whilst we were being bullied. I am now looking in to formal complaint together with intent to pursue a legal action against the person involved bullying us calling we are bullies.
Note: we usually check reviews before making decisions on services. Although i must admit i didn’t take what some of you have said about them on google when deciding to go there. Absolutely nasty people to interact with unless you’re their selective favourite..
Mobile branch van never turned up!
4 of us waiting in mid 80 degree heat for 45 minutes for the mobile van branch to turn up - yep, you guessed it - no appearance.
On speaking to others I am assured that this is a very regular occurrence - it seems to be whether they can be bothered or not.
What about your customers NatWest and more importantly, what is the point of you existing?
Fraud on my debit card…
On Monday 8 July l noticed a fraudulent payment to ebay from mu current account, l have never bought anything from ebay in my life. As it was after 8pm l tried, the supposedly, 24 hour fraud line. Initially there are numerous questions from the bot. I tried 5 times and never got through to a human. I went online and tried to cancel my card, to no avail, so gave up and knew l would have to wait until the morning.
It was not a large amount and think the defrauder was testing the water as it were. I did get through to a human, not that pleasant or empathetic, who traced the payment to PayPal and a personal computer, again l never use PayPal. My card was blocked, my main concern, and the monies refunded in the end. But l had a troubled nights sleep.
Thank goodness I didn't need instant help e.g. mugged, lost cards, was overseas and in a vulnerable situation etc
Natwest should be ashamed and have a good look at their customer service.
Update 9 July : l checked today to see if the monies had been returned only to find out that 3 more transactions had taken place yesterday!!! I called the fraud line again and they informed me my card was still active, they forgot to cancel it. UNBELIEVABLE
Awful service
Never had so many attempts to get online I know I’m typing in correctly but cheaps saying I’m wrong.
Credit Card at NatWest…definitely a BIG NO
I recently applied for a NatWest balance transfer credit card without checking the reviews on Trustpilot first. That turned out to be a big mistake.
The application process was incredibly quick. I was approved almost instantly, entered the details for my balance transfer, and received the card in less than a week. It all seemed too good to be true.
After receiving the card, I downloaded the app, but I couldn't get it working. I visited a NatWest branch, where they helped me set up the app, but they couldn't provide any information about my credit card. Instead, I was told to call the credit card department. I found this strange, considering it's a NatWest credit card.
When I called, I was told that my balance transfer had been processed by NatWest on 17 June, but the funds had never reached my other credit card provider. NatWest told me there was nothing they could do and advised me to contact the receiving bank. The receiving bank, however, explained that they had never received the payment and that only NatWest, as the payment originator, could investigate it. They advised me to request a balance transfer recall.
I called NatWest again and requested exactly that. This time I was told the investigation could take up to eight weeks and was even advised to try completing the transfer myself through the app. Before I could properly discuss the issue, the call was ended.
The app, of course, didn't solve anything. I called again and was assured the matter would be resolved within a few days. It wasn't.
Today, I contacted NatWest once more and was told the status of my request is "unknown." They cannot tell me where my £2,000 is, cannot confirm whether there was a typo in the transaction, cannot provide any tracking information, and cannot even send me written confirmation that my recall request has been logged. I was simply told to wait up to eight weeks and hope the money either turns up or is returned.
It is unbelievable that in 2026, a major bank can lose track of a £2,000 balance transfer and leave a customer without any meaningful updates or support. The lack of communication, accountability, and customer service has been shocking.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend NatWest to anyone. If you're considering using them, especially for a balance transfer credit card, I strongly suggest reading customer reviews first.
I certainly wish I had.
Absolutely no privacy in NatWest and…
Absolutely no privacy in NatWest and cannot pay bills in cash on a Saturday! No counters to serve customers and to allow privacy!
I just wanted to pay a bill due to my dad passing away! But I was stopped as soon as I walked through the door and was asked to explain the reason for my visit and how much I was paying but all this with other customers in the queue stood very close to me and listening to the conversation. I asked the banking assistant if they actually wanted me to explain my reasons to all these people stood in the queue behind me! And all she did was took 2 steps backwards and asked me again the reason for my visit! When I reluctantly explained, still within earshot of everyone in the queue behind me, that I wanted to pay £842 due to a pensions over payment for my deceased dad and I was paying this in cash, she then told me that do not except cash on a Saturday!! But she directed me to a lady who was stood behind a desk right near the front door! Where lots of other customers were again within earshot, This lady then told me that I could in fact pay the bill in cash as long as I did not want any change! What!!! So I £860 in £20 notes to pay this bill but she was not able to give me £18 change? What a farce!! I looked at her in disgust and left! I then actually went to Nationwide who had counter staff and allowed privacy and allowed me to pay CASH in!
So bad! NatWest actually put me at risk! A lone person with over £800 cash on me and them making me disclose within earshot of every other customer behind me! And then I had to walk out of the bank with this cash still on my person to find real bank!
I'm applying for a NatWest current…
I'm applying for a NatWest current account as a UK BNO visa holder with an eVisa. The identity verification system (Mitek) only allows you to take a photo of a physical document. There is no option to submit a UKVI share code or complete eVisa verification, so the system repeatedly rejects the application with "We can't check this document". This is frustrating because eVisas are digital by design. NatWest should update its verification process to properly support eVisa holders. The verification process is outdated and not fit for UK eVisa holders
I have been a NatWest customer for many…
I have been a NatWest customer for many years and recently experienced significant difficulties while trying to update my account details and resolve an associated dispute.
Throughout the process I repeatedly disclosed that I am a disabled customer with Complex PTSD, dyslexia and mobility limitations. Despite these disclosures, branch attendance remained the default solution presented to me, even though I had explained the barriers this created.
I also provided substantial evidence of identity, including official documentation, long-standing account history, correspondence sent to my registered address, and communication from my registered email address.
A particular frustration was the complaint handling process. Customer Relations sent two separate responses which simply stated that my correspondence had been forwarded to another department. Neither response addressed the substantive issues I had raised.
Meaningful engagement with the complaint only occurred after I escalated the matter to the Chief Executive's office. Following that escalation, the Executive Response Team confirmed that a full review would be undertaken.
My outstanding concerns remain the correction of my account name, resolution of an outstanding chargeback relating to a medical device, and confirmation that reasonable adjustments are properly recorded and applied.
I am leaving this review because I believe disabled and vulnerable customers should receive substantive engagement with their concerns before matters reach Executive Response level.
I reported a suspected fraudulent…
I reported a suspected fraudulent subscription charge immediately and followed every instruction NatWest gave me. I raised disputes, completed forms, spoke to agents, and provided all requested information.
Instead of resolving the issue, I was repeatedly redirected between automated systems, dispute processes, and support teams. I was told to wait for the payment to clear, wait for investigations, and wait for updates. Meanwhile, further charges continued to be taken.
The bank acknowledged the merchant and reviewed the transaction, yet the overall process felt confusing, inconsistent, and ineffective. As a customer trying to report a potentially unauthorised recurring payment, I expected clear guidance and prompt action.
Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite.
This has seriously reduced my confidence in NatWest’s dispute and fraud-handling process.
