Needed to access my flat I was locked out of which has a basic Yale lock. Initially said he couldn't slip the lock - now realise this was fabricated in order to charge the higher rate.

He said he would have to drill the lock which would be £169. I understood - that was fine.

He then called me to pay the invoice. This totalled almost £600. He had billed £49 for under an hour's work, £59 for the call out (on top of the £169 for opening the door) then additional costs for a new lock.

The charges themselves were a breach of their own website costs.

It states under emergency call out 'destructive entry' £129-£169' but they billed me the £169 AND the cost of an emergency call out of £59 (which the website advises is the cost of a non-destructive emergency call out) plus labour costs. Surely labour costs are the cost of the actual activity?

In terms of the lock replacement, I can understand how that entails a cost on top but to accrue all of the above costs when on arrival I was told it was £169 and had no update thereafter is horrendous. When I queried this the contractor got fairly confrontational and said he would remove the lock if I wanted. I was shaking.

I can see from the other reviews that this forms a pattern of behaviour so I have filed a report with trading standards this morning also drawing on the reviews of others. I've also written to the council for the area the business is registered in.

They also don't seem to be registered properly with Companies House so I've raised a flag with HMRC also.

I am doing this to avoid this happening to someone more vulnerable who can't afford the costs of these con artists. There is no transparency in how they operate.

Scam artists. Charged us £705 to change a lock. Was in and out of the property in 15 minutes. Avoid.

Quoted a price of £59 over the phone. When the locksmith arrived at the address he tried to pressure my family member who was one here own to pay over £300 as it was really "complicated".

When she said forget about it then, he was then able to find an easier way for £106.

I have no problem with paying £106 for a locksmith but the dishonest greedy behaviour is sickening.

Online was quoted £50+ VAT to get into my mailbox and that replacement locks started at £45. When he arrived he quickly said that the lock could not be picked (without trying to pick it) and that it needed to be destroyed which would cost £150 but that the new lock would likely be £45. After I questioned the cost I was then assured this would all be covered on home insurance and felt pressured to just get it sorted. It took about 1 minute to destroy the lock as it was just drilled through - less / the same amount of time I imagine it would take to pick the lock, so unsure where £150 came from (I asked and was told destructive entry started from this price, but cannot find this price or any details of this on the company website or in FAQ section so unsure if this is true or was plucked from thin air). The lock he had available to replace was then £95 - not £45, again when I questioned the cost I was assured this would all be covered on home insurance and not to worry about it. The whole job ended up costing us ~£300 including VAT. Of course, this is not covered on home insurance after we made a claim - and our policy is a fairly standard policy which covers the whole building, so I don’t think this kind of mailbox lock replacement is covered as standard on most policies. I am aware that the locksmith is not an insurance expert- however he was very sure about this and every time the very growing price came up said ‘this will be covered because it was a faulty lock’ etc - with no suggestion that this was not definitely the case / a standard thing to make a claim for. Aside from feeling a bit of an idiot for just trusting the locksmith, looking back I am not happy with how much pressure I was put under / falsely assured multiple times it would all be fine and think this was unprofessional / shady tactics to get us to pay more. Wish I had read the other reviews before using - AVOID.

Absolute rogue traders and scam artists. Called at night to get into property as lock broke, quoted £289 for new lock - ended up with a bill of £873 which my son had to pay there and then. Called to complain day after and told "send an email with your comments". Will be reporting to Trading Standards. DO NOT USE!

Awful company. Totally scammed. Drilled out lock on my back door. Took 5 mins. Tweaked multi lock mechanism to open and then put in new barrell lock, one I provuded to to keep costs down. (10 minutes) Total £220.00. No materials aa all mine including my WD40. 15 - 20min work. £220.00. Stay away. Another company is charging £200.00 for two people to come and rehang the whole door. Apparently this will take an hour. The difference says it all. This company is the worst.

This is a guys called Flavius and his girlfriend or sister from Europe are fraud stars, the company "My London Locksmith" does not exist on company's house and that means the information and name they are using could also be fake. They would show you fake website with false prices of locks and you could never get your money back after they visit your property. If you encounter them please try and get a copy of their ID so that the police can put a stop to this. I have informed the national Scam association for the UK and the are looking for anyone to bring information about these people to them. You can do this by calling 0300 123 2040 or visiting the Action Fraud website. I also forgot to mention they charge VAT illegally, as they are not registered on company's house the cannot be VAT registered.

Massively overcharged for changing a lock after being locked out. Initially quoted £70 then ended up having to pay £411. Absolutely fuming - will be contacting trading standards.

My parents who don’t speak English was defrauded by this company who charged £650. They broke our lock and forced my parents to pay for a basic lock. The invoice was poorly written with unreadable hand writing and spelling mistakes. They are not even registered or licensed company so court actions should be taken.

Very expensive! Less than 5 minutes of work cost me £382!

I had a simple Yale lock which couldn't be picked, so instead of a £50 lock picking charge, I was charged £189 for the 60 seconds it took to dill the lock and open the door. This meant I also needed a new lock, for which I was charged £74 for the lock, £55 for the labour and 20% vat on top. Bear in mind this was the cheapest option they had. I have just looked up the price of the ERA lock and it costs about £12 to buy. This took a couple of minutes to fit!

All prices were exclusive of vat! So a total charge of £382 to drill a hole, and fit a £12 lock.

I understand this is an emergency call out and with that comes a fee but I was completely shocked at that charge for a few minutes of work. I felt like I was taken complete advantage of in an already stressful situation.

Many of the one star reviews are hidden. Or lost between the different company names.

They claim to be affordable and cheapest prices in London. Nothing could be further from the truth. The only thing this company wants to do is line its pockets and take advantage of people in need.

They quoted me £69+VAT.
Guy turns up and quotes £119 key retrieval PLUS labour FROM £45... He then stated due to it being bank holiday would cost more. He also told me it was going to be very difficult to get my keys.

I told him I knew this job could be done easily and for a much lower cost. He became very rude when he realised I wasn't going to pay his extortionate price... telling me I wouldn't find anyone else to help me. That he wasn't going to work for free etc. I explained I wasn't expecting him too and understood it was a bank holiday... but did not feel the price was correct nor fair. He then offered to 'help me'... wasn't that what he was meant to do all along? By charging me a less amount by using plastic to get in the door.... wouldn't you have done that in the first place if you were actually helping the customer?
Well by this point I could tell he just wanted my money rather than to actually help me get into my house so I declined again. That's when he hit me with the £48 cancellation fee... which is not told to you upfront nor on their website.
Outrageous.

I did find another locksmith, no thanks to this company, who came and did the job within 2mins for £89. And because he actually cares about his customers and wants to help them, he then fitted a new twist lock for £25 to avoid me locking my keys in door. This is how locksmiths should behave not like these thieves. So dishonest. The fact they go be different names reinforces this.

As other reviewers have stated, you also try to complain and they just fob you off or ignore your emails. Will be reporting to trading standards too.

I contacted Lock Services London Ltd and spoke to Eve (Tel: 0207 078 9077) to get a quote to change a lock on my front door in West London. She informed me that the call out charge would be £50.00 and confirmed that the engineer/locksmith would verify any other costs 'before' performing any works to compete the job. My mother attended the property and met with the engineer/locksmith. At no instance during his visit did he confirm the price to replace the lock on the door (existing ERA lock from inside of door). He simply proceeded to change the lock to a new B.S. lock and did not confirm any costings as I was advised previously. The engineer presented my Mother with a bill for a staggering £903.60! My elderly mother was intimidated and paid the bill to which I am now demanding a full enquiry and refund. The call out charge was £89.00 (not £50.00) and the cost to fit a new B.S. lock was £589.00!!! The labour cost a further £75.00 and VAT cost was £150.60. The incident has been deeply distressing and feeling exploited. Appears the costs are made up as they go along. Called Eve back and she simply told me to complete an email enquiry form (to which I have and waiting an immediate response)!!! Upon complaining about the incident today, called Lock Services London Ltd back and spoke to Eve who informed me she was not able to transfer me to one of their Directors and to complete the online email form. Demanding an explanation and refund.

Wish I had read the reviews before I used them. £400 later and 20 minutes of their time with a Screwfix lock.

Do not use this scam company! I have 1st job done in October, and they charged us ridiculous fee of £850 to change for 2 lock, after that I find out the lock they charges us for £325 per lock but the lock only cost £59 on Internet, and the lock seem have some issue when we lock the door, so we call out the company around again, and when we call the person we send the lock smith mention the price for call out is £49 but the person came and want to charge me £89 plus he say is the door problem that the door can’t close probably and ask for another £189 to do some job for the door, end out the door was not fixed he still charge me £89 + £89 for the call up, even I have call to the number again prove the price of call up is £49 he still insist want to charge £89 + £89 , without give me any receipt , I only have a picture of the person who change the locks as a proof of the services m.

The receptionist quoted in the vicinity of £80 for the job. However, when the locksmith arrived, he said that the lock on the front door was “high security” and therefore would require drilling. He informed me that this would increase the labour cost from £80 to £189. I agreed to proceed because I needed to enter my home.

He drilled and broke the lock. Then said that he would need to fit a high security replacement lock. For this I would incur the cost of the £189 labour drill fee plus an identical replacement lock COSTING £365 plus a further £59 for the labour to replace the lock. This suddenly increased the total cost on the spot to £613 + VAT = £735

Being caught off guard and needing to secure my home, I paid the amount of £735 on the spot as the locksmith wanted.

The whole job took less than 20 minutes to break and detach the lock and install the replacement lock.

I compared locksmith bills with some other flat occupants in my building who had also been locked out of their flats. They had identical brand locks and similarly had had to replace their locks by the locksmith drilling, supplying and installing a new replacement lock.

One neighbour couldn't believe that I'd been charged nearly four times what he had been charged for the same job and lock replacement. His bill came to £189.95.

Pure scam. Their prices are absolutely absurd.
For their service, open the door and replace the lock, they charged me 680 pounds. The lock they used costs 35 pounds at Screwfix and they charge 280 + VAT.
Please avoid at all cost. I'll make sure to send negative reviews everywhere

If I could give 0.stars I would. They took advantage of.my sister who was cat sitting and the key got.lost in the flat. They charged £675 to replace a lock which then jammed and we are still stuck in the flat and needed to send a video to prove it. Cowboys who pray on vulnerable people.

Don’t use them.. they are real scam artist

I was charged £451 for an emergency locksmith call out. This cost covered the drilling and replacing of a cheap ERA style lock. This is much more expensive than other estimates and I would not recommend this company. Beware.
