Dear Sir or Madam,
I would like to share my impressions of our one-week MSC Cruise vacation.
First of all, I would like to thank the housekeeping team. Our cabin was always clean and well organized. In the casino, you can spend your time comfortably without ever feeling uncomfortable or intimidated. The dealers patiently and kindly explain the games, ensuring that guests have an enjoyable experience.
We were truly impressed by the entertainment team. Every single performer delivered a world-class performance. We looked forward to the theater shows every day and eagerly rushed to the venue to watch them. The Cruise Director was highly professional, and the entertainment team consistently delivered outstanding performances. I would like to thank each and every one of them.
However, I feel obligated to make a few comments regarding the food.
Providing an all-day buffet service to 5,000 guests is an enormous operation, and it was clear that both the service and kitchen teams were working tirelessly to make it possible. Breakfast was excellent and offered a wide variety of options. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the lunch and dinner buffets.
The lunch and dinner buffets on the first and last days were very good, and it was obvious that high-quality ingredients were being used. However, from Tunisia until Livorno, nearly the same dishes were served repeatedly. The salads were carelessly prepared, and some of the vegetables had already spoiled. In fact, I personally handed spoiled cucumbers to the Executive Chef.
On our return from Naples, I wanted to share some of my concerns with the Food & Beverage Director. I told him that although MSC appears to have excellent mozzarella production, the mozzarella used on the pizzas was of very poor quality and, in my opinion, might not even have been real mozzarella. His response was: “I don't know how you like your mozzarella, but if you wish, I can show you the package.”
I also explained that my wife has a gluten allergy and that no allergen information was displayed for the dishes. When we asked the chefs at the buffet, we were unable to obtain satisfactory information regarding ingredients and allergens. The Food & Beverage Director responded by saying that, due to the risk of cross-contamination, we could dine at the gluten-free restaurant located on a lower deck. However, I pointed out that the issue was not limited to gluten. There was also no allergen information regarding ingredients such as celery, peanuts, and other common allergens.
When I mentioned that the same chicken dish, meatballs, and soy-glazed beef had been served for three consecutive days, the Food & Beverage Director replied that there must always be a chicken dish and a meat dish available every day. What he did not know, however, was that he was speaking with someone who has worked in professional kitchens for 25 years and currently serves as a Sous Chef at The Ritz-Carlton Berlin.
The roasted chicken, meatballs, and soy-glazed beef were served for three consecutive days with virtually no changes in ingredients, sauces, flavor, or presentation. The soy-glazed beef, in particular, was very tough. The beef should have been pre-cooked properly before being finished with vegetables and soy sauce at the buffet. This would have resulted in a much more tender and flavorful dish.
Similarly, instead of serving the chicken and meatballs in exactly the same style every day, they could have been presented with different sauces and accompaniments. For example, one day with a rich jus, another day with a tomato sauce served alongside potatoes and vegetables, and on another day with a mushroom cream sauce. Improvements such as these would significantly enhance the buffet experience.
More importantly than any of these issues, however, is the way guest feedback is handled. The arguments and responses from the Food & Beverage Director made me feel at times as though my concerns were being dismissed and that I was not being taken seriously.
In my opinion, effective guest communication means listening attentively, making guests feel genuinely heard, showing sincere empathy for their negative experience, acknowledging their disappointment, and offering realistic solutions whenever possible.
Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to all members of the kitchen team, with the exception of the Food & Beverage Director and the Executive Chef. They worked extremely hard throughout the week and demonstrated remarkable dedication and effort.

This was our first time travelling with…

This was our first time travelling with MSC, and we were very impressed and delighted to have had the opportunity to spend this wonderful time with you.
We will definitely come back next year and look forward to exploring even more of the excellent standards, services, and options available.
During the trip, we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary, which made the experience even more special. We were exceptionally well looked after by our assistant, Jerry, whose kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail made our holiday truly memorable.
Thank you for a wonderful, informative, and safe holiday experience. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment and appreciate all the care and effort provided by the team.
We look forward to seeing you again soon.

The ship MSC Lyrica was old but comfortable if not spectacular.
The staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful.
The places we visited were interesting.

Dislikes
Time at sea was too long.
Not enough stops on the itinerary
Quality of food on board was not great.
If you pay for upgrades make sure to ask at the beginning for details of what's included so that you are getting what you have paid extra for.
Entertainment (Music and Bands) was disappointing.
MSC Shore excursion in Ancona was not good value for money. It was hurried and didn't include everything that was stated in the itinerary.

In the main the cruise was enjoyable but could have been so much better.

Beautiful ship

Beautiful ship, very easy embarking and disembarking, very friendly and polite staff, great entertainment day and night, beautiful cabins, spotless clean, great all over, would definitely recommend to family and friends.
