Katie handled the sale of our house in Bolton. She came to it part way through after her predecessor left, and very quickly got up to speed with what turned out to be a long and very difficult sale. Her communication was always excellent and she was polite, friendly and helpful. Shakira was also very good. We were very happy with the service provided by everyone at Miller Metcalfe Bolton.

Made a number of calls spoke to a number of people to make it clear why I wanted a property valuation. It took them days to decline saying they could not legally value as I wasn’t the owner. Wrong in law!!

The Culcheth Miller Metcalfe team have gone above and beyond to make selling my house as painless as possible…
I also got the asking price which I was very happy with!!

I have kept this purely factual and the below is all a true reflection of my own experience. For me, the best bit about my experience with Miller Metcalfe has been not having to deal with them since.

Positives: good sales pitch and staff always polite with me. Photographer friendly and professional. The sign went up and was taken away quickly when requested.

Negatives:
1. People in the office very rarely called back despite saying they would on numerous occasions. Sometimes waited all day for nothing.

2. A process factory method of dealing with people, no personal touch or knowledge of individual properties/cases

3. One estate agent totally messaged up a viewing by posting the key back through our letter box before the second viewer had arrived leaving them stood there waiting for us to come with another key. Unprofessional and embarrassing.

4. They very rarely replied to either phone calls or emails.

5. In 6 months we had 5 viewers. After switching estate agents we had 14 viewers and sold.

6. The initial experience of the full conveyancing package offered was fraught with issues to the extent I refused to sign due to suspicious figures and a lack of willingness to change them.

7. When I sent a complaint email to the Branch Manager I didn’t even get a response. After phoning and flagging it all the girl said was if you want to leave we’ll send you a £100 invoice for the leaving fee.

8. Nobody asked for any information about our property to do a proper viewing so we did them ourselves as we had no faith that they actually would sell due to not knowing anything about things like the boiler, work carried out or warranties etc.

9. Perhaps the worst bit is that viewers told us numerous times that they had contacted Miller Metcalfe for viewings and initially been ignored so had to persist. This then suggests that we most likely lost other potential viewers that they didn’t deal with properly.

10. Despite all of the above, they are one of the more pricey estate agents in comparison to more local ones including the one we moved to after Miller Metcalfe.

Great experience from the Bolton branch. Katie and Kay very professional and kind natured throughout with great communication skills and demonstrated a postive approached to their work . Would highly recommend. Thank you .

Miller Metcalfe made buying our first home as easy as possible. Huge shoutout to Chelsea at the Harwood office who was always at the other end of the phone to answer any queries, chase solicitors and generally keep us calm and informed. Thanks to all.

Avoid This Estate Agent – Data Breach and Poor Communication

My friend was in the process of buying a house through this estate agent. While waiting for her solicitor to request further surveys due to damp issues identified in the initial report, the estate agent shared her address with the seller without consent. As a result, the seller showed up unannounced, late at night, with her husband and aggressively confronted my friend—questioning her decision to request another survey and insisting they would cover the cost to prevent her from backing out. My friend, a single woman, was left feeling intimidated on her own doorstep.

Naturally, my friend decided to pull out of the purchase, but what’s worse is that the estate agent didn’t even acknowledge her complaint. This situation was frightening and completely unacceptable. The lack of professionalism, poor communication, and disregard for personal privacy is alarming. I would strongly advise against using this company. Sharing private information without consent is appalling.

We bought a property from this company march 2024, and I'm sorry I won't be recommending their Bury office. It took me a long time to actually process my thought and to write this but every time I think about that experience or see other first time buyers treated with some dignity, I get this lump in my throat.
From a one liner email, to a staff just meeting up halfway to the door in their office to just drop the keys in our hand and turning back. When we opened the house and found all sorts of junks and emailed for explanation, no response till date.

I had a property up for sale with them for 6 months, I only had 6 viewings in that time.
It's a bloody nice house and once I changed my estate agent it sold within 3 weeks.
I'm giving 2 stars as the staff in that particular branch were very communicative and lovely to deal with but as a service to sell your house I would not recommend them.

I found Miller Metcalfe staff in Walkden to be very good in terms of pursuing issues with my buyer and their solicitor, and the staff were always helpful and polite. However, I have knocked two stars off for the following reasons.

The first deduction was because the staff seemed to be focused on the sale going through rather than maximising my income. I was encouraged to make concessions to my buyer, which didn't feel like they were totally in my corner. Having talked to friends who have moved recently, this isn't out of the ordinary at all, however I am currently buying a house through Normie and they have tried to rinse me for every pound they can get for their seller. This is what I expect of an estate agent. Overall, I felt that Miller Metcalfe were more interested in closing the sale (and getting paid) than maximising my income.

The second deduction is because, after 3 months, my solicitor had not paid Miller Metcalfe my fee and the MD sent me (only cc. the solicitor) an email saying he was going to refer the debt to a collection agency in one working days' time if it wasn't paid. I replied saying this was unacceptable (I got no response) and then had a stressful morning chasing my incompetent solicitor to pay the fee. When I rang the MD to say it had been paid he replied, "hmm… yes, maybe I should have called you. That email wasn't aimed at you, it was aimed at the solicitor." Well, yes, you absolutely should have called me (and addressed the email to the solicitor, or replied to my email...), but you didn't. Presumably because, like your staff seem to be, your focus was on getting your money rather than my well-being or good customer service. I have a heart condition and a pace-maker so really don't need that kind of stress.

So, overall I would say Miller Metcalfe Walkden sales staff are competent, but as a business they seem to be more focused on their money than your money or well-being. I recommend you try Normie.

Over the past two years I have dealt with numerous estate agents in the local area from selling my own property, arranging viewings, making offers on properties but this past week I have viewed, made an offer, and offer accepted with the help of Miller Metcalfe in Culcheth and these guys are by far the best I’ve ever communicated with. They get back to you when they say they will, they do everything they say they’re going to do, just such a smooth process from a really professional and caring team. I have such a busy life and they have certainly made my purchase so much easier for me.
