Now it's more expensive

Now mile auto is charging arm and leg and very expensive for my ocasion drive on the weekends tesla. It's charging triple around 300$/a month. My car payment including gap insurance around $ 500.00/ a month. Insurance cost is almost the same as purchasing another new vehicle. Secondly used tesla value i bought isn't a Ferrari it's only $ 20,000. Thirdly I don't have tickets or accidents. Lastly I'm not an 16 to 25 age bracket I'm already over the hill with 65 years of driving experiences. I have asked them if the premium change by raising high deductible from 500 to 2000 or moving to out of city and they said " not significant change." Conclusion it's too high i may ditch the tesla.

"Hello Mr. Tran - we have reviewed the information referenced here on Trustpilot. The cost of insuring a vehicle depends in large part of the value of the vehicle being insured. In your case, you changed from a vehicle that was about 20 years old to a much newer and more valuable vehicle - a Tesla. As a result, that vehicle is more expensive to insure. With our pay-per-mile insurance, there is a base rate based on non-moving risks to your vehicle - such as theft. If the Tesla is not being driven, you will save money on your insurance because the mileage portion of your policy premium will only reflect the miles actually driven each month. Helpful!

I forgot to update my bank information when I switched banks so payment didn't happen. I didn't find oit because I hadn't checked my emails due to working so much OT at work. Then my old bank called to tell me that they received the payment request. I called and the gentleman on the phone was amazing in helping me get my account straitened out.

Great Experience

I’ve been very happy with my experience so far. The thing I appreciate most is that Mile Auto respects my data privacy and doesn’t harvest my information like every other insurance company. My rates are very fair and I'm paying less than I did with StateFarm.

Whenever I’ve needed assistance, the customer care team has been super helpful and quick to get things sorted. I haven’t had to file a claim yet, but based on how the rest of my interactions have been, I’d expect their claims department to be just as professional and reliable. Overall, a great experience and I’m glad I made the switch.

I had a small banking error and my…

I had a small banking error and my payment will be due before the end of the month. I will not have my card until at least the third or fourth of next month I spoke with.ilse and she was extremely helpful. Listen to my issue had me on hold for maybe a minute came back had an answer that worked for both of us and I am extremely happy. I’ve been with them over a year. I’ve had a couple talks with several people there always polite, always professional great place to be

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! Sure they quote a nice low price, and you get to pay monthly and per mile, but hidden way down in the fine print on the e-sign document is where they hide 'some additional fees'. Also nothing adds up. The quote did not add up to the actual monthly charge, the quote never mentioned any 'extra' fees or what they would be; they equal about $20 per month BTW, I have yet to get any breakdown on what the initial payment covered, and the absolute worst part?

Upon cancelling, they say they have 30 BUSINESS days to refund any excess premium!

EDIT to add. Look at their pathetic response. Notice how they slipped in the (and fees). Those fees were never ever spelled out nor enumerated in the quote. They did only charge me per mile, and that was the only rate that matched the quote. Nice word salad you losers!

Thanks for sharing your feedback. We’d like to clarify how our pay-per-mile insurance works, since transparency is very important to us.

Mile Auto policies include two parts:

1. A monthly base charge that covers non-driving risks like theft and other non-moving risks, plus standard industry fees such as technology, policy, and payment processing fees. These are charged each month whether you drive or not. Your base charge plus the fees are detailed on your monthly statement. Other insurers also charge similar fees, but hide them in their monthly premiums. We prefer transparency.

2. A variable per-mile rate – just a few cents per mile – based on how much you actually drive.

The monthly base charge and the per-mile rate are clearly shown in your final quote before purchasing a policy.

At the start of a 6-month policy term, there is a down payment, which is applied toward the term’s base charge. After that, your monthly bill is simply the base charge (and fees) plus the per-mile portion for the miles you drove the prior month. For our low-mileage customers, this usually results in savings compared to traditional insurance.

Your estimated payment quote was based on the mileage estimate you provided. Since the cost is based on the miles you actually drive, your price might be higher or lower depending on your initial estimate of mileage. It works like your electric bill: the less you use, the less you pay.

Regarding cancellations: as disclosed in our policy documents, refunds are processed within 30 business days, which is standard timing in the insurance industry.
