I would be giving Zero if it was… possible as the matter in my review that I describe makes me furious.
I would be giving Zero if it was possible.
I like shopping in LIDL especially the big new style ones with aisles that you could drive a car down.
However I, as well as family and friends, are now boycotting them.
I travel to different LIDL shops due to my work around the South West of England. I buy on behalf of my family as well as for numerous clients. No problem. Recently my husband went to one in Yate, South Glos. on his way to a destination about 5 miles away. Got a bit of shopping and came away. No overstay. Then recently we got a notice from the company (Parking Eye) that manages their car park. Apparently in that car park they do things differently and they have, somewhere on the site, a machine where you key in your Reg. No. As we have been using LIDL shops for years without difficulty – usually 1.5 – 2.00 hours parking – we would never have expected that this one would be different.
Of course they say - if one looks into the question – that they do do things differently because of different local conditions. That is understandable. Nevertheless it is going to blind-side some people who are not local shoppers.
Given the number of LIDL car parks we have been in, and this being the only one that we have come across that operates in this way, the disparity means that some people are going to get caught out – admittedly not many. We have put it to the company that, while their reasons are reasonable, the system has this flaw. We can afford the fine and will pay it if our appeal is not successful but we have written to LIDL to point the problem out . They say it is it is between us and the Parking Company. Well we are making it a problem between us and LIDL. We don’t go near them ever again until they cough up the fine or intervene.
Reading the reviews this will likely fall in the same pattern: good produce at very good prices; hopeless public relations and communication.
Deluxe steak & ale pies
Bought 2 deluxe steak and old peculiar ale pies from the freezer in the Lidl Dundee. I am sorry to say that they were awful. Little or no gravy and the “steak” was all gristle. We got no steak at all. Very disappointed. A much anticipated meal ruined.
Unhelpful staff
Shopping at lidl poppy way norwich checkout staff very poor Shopping on my own with lots of shopping barcoding so fast I just said you're got to slow down a bit, but no, she said no I get a time limit to scan these. never shop lidl again very disappointed
Could do better.
Fairy new user to the Lidl experience.
positives. Prices on dry stock tins etc good.
issues. Poor in-house stock some items are not available- basic items for weeks in a row.
no customer service desk and apparent lack of supervision of on-floor staff.
Checkouts long delay the bottleneck of every Lidl we have been in.
When we had an issue with an item {food item} no help from HQ as we did not keep the receipt. No receipt then you the customer is the issue and they will not help.
Overview - some lower prices than Big supermarkets but you do pay for this in overall customer care and speed of shop. Due to stock gaps, we find you need to go elsewhere to finish shop so you just as well do all the shopping elsewhere.
Pick and choose carefully for great bargains...
Pick and choose carefully for a few bargains.
Yes generally the quality of the food is not as great as the rest of the supermarkets but a little savvy shopping and going for the right items will save you so much over the big names in the long run. Usually I will stock up with a lot of stuff that is getting frozen in most cases. Here is some of my favourites....
Boneless chicken thighs. In fresh section but I buy in bulk and freeze. No difference between these and other supermarkets but really cheap.
Ben and Jerry copies. All nearly as good as the originals at a fraction of the price.
All of the frozen veg (but not the chips!)
Frozen paella (but its hit and miss if its in) we bulk this up with lots of veg.
Own brand choco spread (not quite as luxury as the real thing, but at 30% of the price, I'm not expecting it to be)
Generally the fresh is good as well, but can be hit and miss if you don't know what to look for.
And who doesn't love the random stuff in the middle aisles. Would you like a Welder or a Garden Chair with your food shop!!!!!

Normally I would be a happy shopper after hitting 200 on lidl plus ➕️ app with £10 reward. Now I hit the new 250.00 and on my next shop was only 1.50 discount. Its like being forced to spend 100.00 on hext shop to get £10 back.
This system favours the rich not the poor
During cost of living crisis why not keep your loyal customers and system the same. £10 for hitting £200 And then 10% off after you reach £250.00. Fairer during hard times.
Other stores looking more attractive now
Still waiting
Sent a complaint to Lidl UK CEO 3 months ago, still NIL response.
Lidl now has Prochoice cat food.
Lidl now has Prochoice cat food.
Our cat is very fussy about his food ,but found out that he really enjoys the salmon and liver in jelly, and really likes it a lot,so I have stocked up.
Well done Lidl and Prochoice cat foods.
Today I witnessed the most vile manager…
Today I witnessed the most vile manager in the Lidl’s history. A child fell in yoghurt that was not cleaned nor was a cone placed at this spillage. I had almost fallen in the same yoghurt. I’ve noticed that the cone was at the end of the aisle upon reaching the till to pay for my goods a lady with two children one son and a daughter the son had fell and hurt himself in this yoghurt, the mother went to report this to the line manager who told her that if she was controlling her child he would not have fell and hurt himself.
At no point was first aide administered or a question of how is your child feeling nor an apology was given to this woman. Instead victim blaming occurred and she was told it was her fault for not watching her child.
The security guard and also the manager Reggie accosted this woman they stood around her in a circle in a menacing fashion and blamed her for the fall.
She left Lidl without purchasing anything and she left in tears. On her way out she asked did i see that?? “I stated it’s simply disgusting how you’re being treated”.
Reggie walked up into my face and told me to mind my business and get out. Ahmed another attendant said how is it your business and made threatening hand gestures. Today I suffered emotional distress from Lidl’s manager. I was threatened, bullying, being swore at, and intimidated. 4 men surrounded me in an attempt to bully or simply intimidate as they did the previous lady. All because I voiced to the victim that it was disgusting how she was being dealt with.
I asked who was the manager and Reggie said ( referring to his co worker, “don’t tell her nothing” 1 brave person pointed at him, I said thank you paid for my goods and exited as I was leaving I called the complaints line and was asked which lidl was in question I asked for the address and he told me to leave, this occurred while complaints was on the line.
Imagine, your child having an accident that the company’s could have avoided but didn’t, nor apologise or show empathy but apportion blame to the person who had the accident. Simply mind blowing.
I am so disappointed and concerned about how Lidl’s appointments managers,
as criteria must be low for someone of Reggie’s pre-disposition to have gotten such a position.
I have been a Lidl shopper for many years but can never safely go again.
an empty store at 5 pm
i alway say go to aldi but no more a store that has no veg or fruit at 5pm is not a store you go to lidl the are still selling fruit/ veg the stores close late so whos odering the wright amount lidl of course you cant make money if you have no stock at this rate aldi will not last
I have been a daily shopper at Lidl BUT no more
I have been a daily shopper at Lidl for the past 3 years, I used to take advantaged of their loyalty card, a free bakery item at £50 which is great, £2 off at £100 which is not that great but I take it, and then £10 off at £200, I tend to get my £10 voucher by the middle of the each month as a daily shopper, NOW at times where things are tougher they have change the £10 voucher to having to spend £250 to get a one off 10% discount once you have spend over £250. I will now move to Aldi which his less than 300 meters away from the Lidl store at Cross Hands, they are a little (not Lidl) cheaper. Are you serious Lidl. You have no idea. I will vote with my feet. Someone at head office has got this so so wrong and you will hurt from this when people realize what you have done.
Lidl deal change - Bad Deal
Lidl used to give a £10 voucher off next shop when you reached a £200 spend in a month. Now they have stopped this perk. From 1/9/22 you must spend £250 and just get 10% of your next shop. What a rubbish deal. It means I will have to spend £50 MORE to get a much worse deal !! No thanks
Lidl in being RUDE
Lidl in being RUDE! Staff in Old Kent Road Store answered with bad manners when asked a question and when reported to Store Manager he refused to apologize neither having a word with the employee and almost suggested I was perhaps the rude one.
That's I call customer service. Well done LIDL......
The Deluxe Steak and Old peculiar ale…
The Deluxe Steak and Old peculiar ale pie is inedible due to the tough grizzle not a nice piece of steak to be found.
Will not recommend to family and friends and definitely won't be buying again.
Deluxe 2 steak and Old peculier pies. Disgusting!
Dear oh dear,

Update. Today 12/12/2022. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT LIDL ARE DENYING THIS INCIDENT TOOK PLACE. BELOW IS MY REPLY TO ABOVE EMAIL. THE BAREFACED CHEEK OF THE STAFF TO BLATANTLY LIE.
PLEASE DON'T SHOP HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH!!!.
I knew that you Scummy Bs Would Try Wriggle your way Out of Doing the RIGHT THING. But I have an Email from the guy who Referred me to you. Stating that they had Secured CCTV. And that is in Writing. And I DO Have an Independent Witness. When She ( 1 of the 2 LIARS ) Smashed into me. I Screamed Out, and Swore. He Came Across, and Asked if I Was Ok. As I Said No. He was Concerned because I have Already got Damage to that leg, and I Was in AGONY.
Seeing as You, or they HAVEN'T GOT ANY DECENCY. MORALS. RESPECT. I Will Speak to my Solicitor, and You'll hear from them.
Your Clients have BROKEN the LAW. As the Accident Report Book should have been Filled in. The CCTV Supposedly SECURED, And the Fact they are Committing Perjury by lying.
I'm Also Going to Ask my Solicitor if I Can Prosecute her for Common Assault.
Absolutely Ridiculous Decision.
Scumbags at THEIR WORST.
Thanks for NOTHING

Supermarket
Joseph Thompson. Clean store, Still could be Clearer, with the layout of fresh produce. Staff friendly though. But, Not So on the floor. They Never ask if you want any Help. UPDATE. I went into this store yesterday, and I was looking for sausages. I felt a tap on my back, Followed by a Full Trolley Jack of Pallets of Food. , And She Rammed Straight into my Right Leg. I Screamed Out in Pain ( I have Fluid in my legs, Which leaves me in Excruciating Pain ) , She Stopped looked, and Proceeded to Hit my Leg Again, and She just carried on into the Warehouse. I Spoke to the Manager, and her Attitude Was Just as Bad, So she said, she'd Speak to her.. she Disappeared, and that was it. So I Carry on Shopping, but In Considerable Pain. I'm in Agony, and Not thinking straight, So put lots of Frozen Food in my Trolley ( Stuff which Will Go to Waste, as my Freezer is Full of Some of the Food I bought) . I'm FUMING, and I Ask the Cashier to get the Manager, as I Want to Make an Official Complaint. So I Wait Ages, and When she Eventually gets to me. She's with this Other Staff member, and she Asks What I Want. Unbelievable, She KNEW what I Wanted. I Asked for the Staff Members Name, and Address. She went away, and Came Back with the Weekly Shopping Brochure, and the Address in a Little Corner on the Inside Page, but NO Name. Her Attitude Was an Absolute Disgrace. Customer Service. My Backside. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT LIDL AGAIN.....

Went to Lidl in Glenrothes to get some…
Went to Lidl in Glenrothes to get some items for a barbecue at my sisters. Very polite and friendly person on the till whom engaged in conversation with my little boy. After a till error I ended up paying quite a bit too much for shopping though didn't actually click until after at barbecue when checked digital receipt. Went back in to same person on till explained and lady was very professional and understanding all got sorted as well as genuine apology. If only politician's had the same high standards.😀
Okay....How susceptible am I?
Okay....How susceptible am I?? Fancied a steak and ale pie and I thought I'd try Lidl's and selected their 'Deluxe' range of pies....believing the advertising...and trusted the honest!!!??? opinion of lidl's to get me to part with my money...??.Just cooked (according to packet instructions) lidl's 'steak and old peculier ale pie' ....the gravy was tasteless with no other ingredients except very tough beef!? and grisle...horrible..please lidl's be honest and considerate when promoting your products, I haven't got money to waste on promotional lies...and if you're looking for a good quality pie....don't buy this one.
