Faulty lights delivered and bad customer service experience
We purchased two expensive chandeliers from HDLS recently worth about £4300. Once the lights arrived and were installed by our electrician, they both turned out to have faults, which were only possible to see at fitting, not earlier. For one of the chandeliers, one of the light bulb fittings kept burning the light bulb and on the second chandelier some of the metal hooks that hold the crystals were bent (possibly damaged during transport), so the crystals attached to them were pointing slightly outward or inward, rather than lining up nicely with others in a straight line.
Whilst for the first chandelier the customer service has sent a replacement bulb fitting, for the second chandelier there is not much they are doing at all. We could not really return the chandeliers anymore as they were fitted, and neither was it offered by the customer service as an option. We were also not offered any sort of compensation at all. Furthermore, we were really stunned by their response. Basically along the lines that it's not a big deal, you can just try to bend them back yourself. Really not a big deal? As it's metal really hard to bend, and even if we could, why should a customer have to do that for a light that cost more than £2000? For that price, they should be of high quality and arrive in perfect conditions. In addition to this, the customer service then also said that sometimes electricians cause the damage and blame them. Really? That could be said the other way around as well, you don't want to take any responsibility and then just accuse the electricians. Also, we know it was not the electrician who caused the damage as we were there the whole time during the fitting. I cannot see how they would anyway, given the type of issues we had. So, this type of response is a bit ridiculous. They also sent us a QC video of our light which seems to show everything working on the light bulb. So, we are just raising these issues for fun? We obviously had genuine issues with the quality of the light, and they had faults, we are not making this up.
Unfortunately, due to the above reasons as well as the really poor response by customer service without any sort of compensation, we cannot rate this company higher. It is simply the principle and customer courtesy that they completely seem to miss if you deliver faulty products. We paid a very high price for these chandeliers, so yes, we do expect premium quality and premium customer service. I could understand if we would have purchased lights for couple of hundred pounds that these might not be high quality necessarily, but these were over £4000 for the two lights. This only leaves us to think that they get these lights produced somewhere very cheaply and then just sell them for extortionate margin. Feel totally ripped off as well as dismissed by customer service on top of it without them taking any responsibility for it.
Very disappointed, would not recommend buying from them!
