Avoid this company, it was an incredibly stressful and unpleasant experience
I would strongly advise that you avoid using this company and their other company The Garage Conversion Specialist Ltd because I completely agree with the review left by Simon against that company name.
I had a very difficult time with Haus Developer which culminated in me terminating the contract with them part way through the build. He over promised and under delivered.
At the beginning everything went well. Steve kept us informed and the build was ahead of schedule. Sadly after a month this changed dramatically and life became incredibly stressful. Many messages were ignored and my wishes were regularly disregarded. Although I had requested notice of when workmen would be onsite this rarely happened. One time I gave Steve 10 days notice regarding a health appointment so that he could ensure no-one would be on site that afternoon but he completely ignored my request and insisted the plasterer had to be there that day, so I had to cancel the appointment.
There were several avoidable delays by Steve with no apology, and these put the build back weeks. There was also unnecessary and expensive work completed. The excavation and digging up of the house foundations in preparation for moving a gas meter was completely unnecessary and could have been avoided if Steve had checked beforehand whether it was feasible to actually move the gas meter. I hadn’t been asked if I would rather delay the build until he had confirmation that the work could be completed before going ahead, but nonetheless I had to pay for the work he had done, and it wasn’t cheap. Further down the line he also tried to charge me again for the same work!
It has come to light since I have cancelled the contract that there are a lot of issues that have needed rectifying. Some examples… the roof hasn’t been properly finished; the drain from the central heating boiler was removed so that water now drips down the external wall and onto the roof of the extension; the Aco drain around the extension has been badly installed which causes the drive to flood significantly more than it did before it was fitted; the finish of the external concrete is poor because it isn’t level and has ridges and hollows in it which collect water; one electric radiator was fitted ridiculously high on the wall, and even when the electrician lowered it, it was still higher than the manufacturer’s recommendation; the dimmer switches were fitted without reference to the datasheet so didn’t dim properly; a piece of plastic piping was used to support the toilet cistern; and joints weren't tightened properly in the pipework to the extension which caused a substantial leak. Steve dismissed the leak as unimportant and refused to send out a plumber to fix it. There are many more examples but it would take too long to list them all.
