This app is horrible! this horrendous excuse of an app reminds me of some camps in the 40's. zero freedom, and it is listening. the only way to remove this stupid app is to power wash these Chromebooks. Why can a substitute teacher BAN ME WHEN SHE IS IN A DIFFERENT SCHOOL. I'm talking about you MISS SCHMIDT.

As a 9th grader who's ironically typing this on a school Chromebook, Hapara is a horrible piece of software my high school has forcibly downloaded onto the Chromebooks. Have you ever wanted to remove it? SIKE! You can't. You're stuck with this spyware disguised as a monitoring tool forever until you graduate out of hell where teachers overuse Hapara like they're leading a dictatorship in 1939. Although teachers at my school say they use Hapara to redirect us when we are off-task, on different websites, or just checking for inappropriate behavior, it gets to a point where it raises privacy concerns about the feeling of being watched 24/7 by adults who are way older than you. A substitute teacher in my English class closed my tab that I searched up being "Hapara Highlights smells like my farts...", which proves they're watching you. In a nutshell, Hapara is really like Big Brother no matter where you use your Chromebook, 0/10. For schools: If you hate your kids having fun and being happy, you should go totally get this malware on the kids Chromebooks!🥰

This is spyware. They claim it's not but it is. It is installed without consent. Once it's on your device, it's never leaving. Teachers can monitor you AT HOME, or anywhere, at anytime. they can set up "filter sessions"that restrict your access to certain sites. I must restate this is literal spyware. They can try to silence privacy advocates because the government and board of education is supporting these multimillion dollar companies. I understand the need for monitoring, but this is overdoing it. It should be illegal to spy on kids all the time, even during private moments in their lives. This itself should be illegal or reworked at the very least.

this app tracked me down
this app tracked me down and blackmailed me to not tell my teachers i was playing a game for 20 secs they litterally asked me for 12.000 dollars and the police said well jst dont download a app with 2 stars on trust pilot and now im expelled for a month dont download very dangerous app (kim jung un uses this)

As student, one day I found it downloaded on my device without my consent. As a highschool student who is studying computer technology (science), I have went through and blocked all it's access to "my" device, but I am still unable to remove it. While going through the application's several processes, I have found that it tracks everything on your device even apps unrelated to it, and the device's system. (It's stuck on my personal laptop that my family bought for me, without my consent)

My friend also found out today, that this is the reason why there is sometimes a popup that says "You are being monitored"

On the second day of finding out, I check on it and it gave itself permissions, so I blocked it again.

it is not good for a spying service even kids logged into my account

This sorry exuse of a spying service is horrid and it is very suprising how the hell this made it in to schools software like this indirectly teaches kids that heavy 24/7 moderating is normal.(witch if you ask me is not what we should be teaching kids)

curse this god forsaken website this website has to have been made by them i cant do shit and also for some reason they made it so i cant even make a new tab because for some reason hapara needs to take up the entire tab,not to mention it doesnt even have a dark mode so i have to constantly be looking at a bright ass screen until i have a headache,also this wasnt uncle sams idea uncle sam wouldnt have done this bullshit

Made me scared for my privacy. Okay for classroom assignments but NOT okay for classroom spying. One of my parent's computers got fully locked out for a day because my chrome profile had Hapara Highlights installed. This is because the Hapara Highlights extension allows teachers to fully disable your computer with a non-closeable fullscreen popup. 1/5 stars, glad I've escaped the Catholic School Board for now. ;-;

hapara killed my grandma

It is HORRIBLE! Doesn't even let me search up productive stuff. Worst app I've ever used

Horrible - invasive and tracks students. Should be illegal!

it sucks, hapara sucks

hapara is a horrible program every day it tracks you and my pedophile Spanish teacher uses it to watch some of the girls at home through the webcam he also records them each time he logs the reason for it as ''students are doing unsafe substances'
also, hapara and the whole focus session thing is bad because if a teacher forgets to turn it off then you have them monitoring your screen over the weekend because some of the bigoted teachers get on and stop my closed trans friend from accessing helpline services. it also flags anything teachers set as an off-limits word so in my bigot teachers class searching 'gay' or 'homo' will result in blocking and a report. there's also a buzzword list that will auto block anything under that list.
i have done research into multiple of these gogurdian copies and they all use the same basic coding and someone with specific thing can there are easy and simple ways to evade It obviously we need something to keep us on task but teachers should only be able to see websites open and not screens of students ,files or access data on devices using school accounts ,linewize is reasonable enough and does not work on non-school devices under school accounts hapara should do the same the highlights extension I think that many programs copying the go-guardian formula is annoying and students do not trust teachers and will be more compelled to use phones in class. also these companies often get hacked and then data leaks this means many sensitive things along with photos of underage students used for projects in K-5
