Stay well clear. I feel violated. The charger doesn't charge anywhere near the rate as advertised. Of course any decent, meaningful charge then takes you over the 1hr 30 minute time limit. SO THEY TH... Mehr ansehen

I would give 0 if I could
I would give 0 if I could. Constantly never works but takes £25 from you. Slow to refund and an absolute joke of a company. Will stick to BP chargers.

Fleeced of £10
After downloading the app on a Saturday night a Premier Inn parking in Kings Lynn lot in order to use a genie point for the first time, we returned 82 minutes later to ensure we will arrive before the 90 minute time limit for charging. We understood that we would be incurring a £10 fee if we surpassed the 90 minute limit. However,we could not stop the charging. We pressed the stop button on the screen three times. Finally we had to call the 020 number on the front of the charging station. The lady helped us do an emergency stop but not within the 90 minute time limit and we were charged £10. We called the customer service line on Monday morning and were told we need to write an email. We forwarded the 3 emails from GeniePoint regarding charges. We have not heard from the company.

I now check my journey with Zapmap and if a charging point offers Genie I just avoid it and recommend EV drivers to do the same then just perhaps they will get their act together.
Chargers NEVER working
In August stayed in Bideford area, North Devon and wanted to charge. Unfortunately both the most convenient local chargers were out of action for the whole week! Astonishingly, in planning to go back in February, find out they are BOTH still out of action. This is appalling and the company should be sued by the relevant local auhtorities.
Best yet
Have had all sorts of problems charging my car at various public chargers since I bought my EV over a year ago. Today was the first time I had absolutely no problem. And it was a Geniepoint charger. Flashed my card and the car immediately started charging. Flashed again at the end and it immediately stopped. And 48p was the lowest I’ve paid anywhere away from home. So credit where credit’s due
Thieves
I am reporting them to Trading Standards and writing to the local paper. Charged my car and was in it the whole time, I was in for 62 minutes and got a £10 fine saying I was in for 90 minutes which I know is not accurate as there was nothing to do at Premier Inn car park other than charge and go plus I checked my charge report. I contacted them but no response and think this is a scam to get a bit more out of me. UPDATE It cost me £100 to use them so avoid Premier Inn at Sale
Terrible terrible terrible
Terrible terrible terrible
Machine did not work
Rang helpline
Told I was wrong , it did work but had a communication issue
Rude unhelpful person
Took our money
Took us 30 minutes for nothing
We parked somewhere else
Honestly , the worst experience
Beware random overstay fees!
Use the Geniepoint charger at the Premier Inn in Sale and got a £10 penalty charge notice - checked on their website and it CLEARLY says that they have an overstay fee of £10 but ONLY after 90 minutes - I have evidence that the charge lasted 62 minutes and was sat in the car the entire time so even allowing lets say a generous 10 minutes for pulling up, reading instructions, starting the charge and then returning the charger and driving off I was well within this - emailed the company with the respective evidence both from their website showing the 90 minute timeframe and the charging records from our app but not even the courtesy of a response from them - nice little earner for them on top of the amount they charge for their electric and given the amount I'm guessing, like me, after an initial attempt to get a refund most people will just give up and they get to keep the 'fees' - will be reporting to trading standard
As a Telsa driver
As a Telsa driver, I’m used to paying between 34-50p per Kw, but 79p Geniepoint charge is ridiculous… I’m sure this puts people off driving EV’s

Used the Geniepoint charger at Premier Inn Sale and got a £100 parking charge!
Useless
Useless. Tried several times using my GeniePoint Account. Neither Applegate or Torrington woud work. In fairness their App showed Applegate as faulted - I phoned and was told it had lost connection. The Type 2 cable in Great Torrington was not faulted on App but other connectors were. I sent them an email but it is not yet shown as faulted.
A shame that GeniePoint is holding on to sites that reliable operators could use.
Great come to Devon for a holiday and then get range anxiety.
Utterly woeful
Utterly woeful. Tried get a quick charge at a Morrisons after travelling to Ross on Wye. First you need an app. Then you need to sign up. But don’t worry you can charge as a guest. So you do. And then you need to put in a credit card details (because Apple Pay and PayPal aren’t options), then the charger times out because you put the charger into the car before starting this ridiculous dance.
So you start again, and repeat. Because the app doesn’t store anything. Then it times out AFTER you put the charger in after waiting until prompted.
Then you try again. But it fails to handshake with the car.
So, unlike every other seamless charging experience, where you just stick the bloody thing in your car, tap your card and charge, this ridiculous dance stops you charging, leaving you infuriatingly finding another local charger.
The business model is simple. Why try and make it complicated. I hope you go bust.
Useless app
Useless app . Charged £35 quid but its ok you get it back in a month.
Got fined for not displaying a parking…
Got fined for not displaying a parking ticket at South Hawksworth Street,Ilkley. I have used this same charging point over 10 times and never received a parking ticket. I am not parking I am using the charger and paying to use it and not a cheap charge either. So be aware and make sure you don't have to pay for parking aswell. Will never use this point or any other point owned by Geniepoint.
The geniepoint's only saving grace is…
The geniepoint's only saving grace is the people at helpline. They are the only star of this review. All the other reviews covered pretty much my experience. The chargers don't work properly. If you use the app as a guest, you get charged immediately £35 and even though charging never took place, they don't release this amount back immediately. The charger cables are too short. They didn't work for me, so I decided to use my own AC cable. That's what I often do with others (pod point for instance). The charger didn't work with my cable as well. Started to show faulty after I made the payment. So i tried to release my cable and it got stuck on the machine. Their wonderful helpline tried very hard, including restarting the machine unfortunately nothing worked. The engineers later at night released my cable manually and leave with ASDA where charger was located. I had to go back and collect next day. I will never try these chargers again. For anyone reading this review, I was trying to charge my Renault Zoe. I also would like to thank the people on the other side of the helpline (Sully, Kirsten, and Tiago hope I am writing their names correctly), they really tried hard and they were very courteous. Geniepoint should consider all the 1 star reviews here and maintain their machines better.
Sheringham, Morris Street
I seem to be the exception here. My first public charging experience and somehow I mucked it up and it wouldn’t charge my newly acquired ID3. Phoned customer care and the man was extremely helpful and got it charging. 1hour and half later (a walk by the sea and a cuppa) car was charged to 80% and disconnected smoothly. Every bay, I observed (6) was working. So, no complaints.
SCAM ALERT - Parking Charge Notice Issued
SCAM ALERT.
I charged at one of the location run by Geniepoint in London, and I was issue a Penalty Charge Notice for parking in the bay for charging my car.
I did not over stay, and I left as soon as finished charging as there were someone waiting for me.
Scam. £10 of electricity costed me £100 for penalty charge notice, and £42 admin fee from rental car company.
Sent email with proof. No response from the scammer, as in the company.
4 chargers in leeds around Rawdon all…
4 chargers in leeds around Rawdon all showing on the app as working yet all of them broken. What should have been an hour to get home took 6 hours, nearly had to call the AA if it wasn’t for granny charging followed by osprey quick charging.
100% FAIL
Visited two Geniepoint chargers today, both were inoperable. It left me in quite a predicament as my charge was low as unexpected extra miles combined with an area with few charging options left me struggling. From now on I'll disregard GP chargers when I'm searching for a charge.
