Freetrade delivers exactly what they say they will, it’s simple to use, fees are good value, plenty of stock to pick and customer service (if you have a question or issue) is helpful and prompt.

I have to pay over £900 in CG tax…
I have to pay over £900 in CG tax because they put my funds in a GIA instead of an ISA… no reasonable person would invest £20k in a GIA if they’ve been given an option of an ISA. The complaints and support team were absolutely useless

Profitably investment is depending on the result . Poorly the free trade apps does not help much on updating the stock market , I am permanently not knowing the selling price for my shares ...may be it is not easy to be noticeable .Only good thing about free trade,is very simple for beginner, if you want to upgrade for better facility, extra payment is required every month approximately from £6.50 . Now there is lot of Apps are better than free trade , offering important information for customer, free trade is becoming old school &behind now.

On pricing, the figures you see come from our data providers, and the time of the latest update is shown at the bottom of each stock's page. When you place an order we show an indicative price, then go out to get quotes and take the best one available, so the price you pay is the market price at the moment your order goes through. That can differ a little from what you saw beforehand.

Investment stock descriptions inaccurate.
I informed Freetrade quite a long time ago that their ‘About’ descriptor for British Petroleum (BP) was fundamentally incorrect in stating that BP ‘Increasingly, they are focusing upon renewable energy’. Quite the opposite is true. I was told that this would be changed. It has not been changed. This leads me to think that there is the strong possibility that many other descriptors are incorrect.
Not great for an investment platform that they have got this wrong. Also, that a helpful communication from an investor is not actioned. Unprofessional!

Very usable app, interesting email blogposts. Customer service is quick. Generally, I would only like to see lower FX fees.

Hidden fees, memory-intensive app
Freetrade makes the cost a bit hard to see, it's free only in the sense that they don't charge when you buy UK companies, but if you buy any foreign assets, they charge in hidden forex fees. Also the app seems to have a memory issue, it often lags and struggles to render UI elemeents on an iphone 17 pro

To clarify, there are no hidden FX fees. When you buy or sell non-UK stocks, we show an indicative quote before you place the order, including the applicable FX rate, so you can see the exchange rate before confirming the trade.
We’re also sorry to hear you’re experiencing lag and issues rendering UI elements on your iPhone 17 Pro. We’d be happy to look into this further.

Platform / tech for trading is good.
The service operations that exist around it are poorly designed from a UX perspective. The propositions campaigns are atrociously deployed and that means anyone expecting incentives to transfer in a SIPP, for instance, will need to keep chasing again and again.
I think it is probably deliberate based on interactions and I will make a complaint shortly if I don’t receive monies I was promised.

We understand how disappointing it is to have to repeatedly chase an incentive you were expecting. This isn’t the experience we want for our customers, and we’ll make sure your feedback is shared with the relevant teams.
If you’re referring to the 2025 SIPP Transfer Campaign, the campaign terms state that eligible customers will receive a cash Award based on their qualifying transfers, paid into their Freetrade GIA. Freetrade will use its best endeavours to make any Award that you’re entitled to by 15 October 2026.
If you’re referring to a previous campaign or have any concerns, please get in touch with our support team at reviews@freetrade.io so we can look into this further for you.
