Still awaiting REFUND

My earlier review has disappeared from this site so I am reposting it:

Curio bait & switch
I ordered a curio online. Website said they had 5 in stock. I receive an email from them a couple days later that the curio is out of stock. I said when I ordered it their website said there were 5 in stock. They said the count was wrong and do I want to buy a different curio. I replied no just issue the refund back to my credit card. It is now 9 days later and they offer me a gift card rather than processing my refund! I have no interest in doing business with a company using bait & switch techniques and refusing to refund my money for a curio they don't even have! Where is my refund?

As a follow up it is now March 22nd and STILL no refund. They emailed me on 3/13 saying it will take up to 14 business days now to get a refund for a product they never had. They charged my credit card immediately but are now stalling on refunding my money. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!

We're very sorry that you're unhappy with your experience, but we did not bait and switch you. After we received your order and sent it to our distribution center for processing we were told the product was out of stock, and the inventory was incorrect. We quickly notified you and gave the option for a refund or store credit with extra value (105%). There's no switch going on. Our inventory, which is provided by the distribution center, was wrong. This is the case for all online stores who source from the same manufacturer. We felt terrible and offered you the above options. Our team is processing the refund per the timeline that we discussed with you. it should post to your account shortly.

real pros and nice people to work with

Not only does France and Son have high-quality, eclectic and stylish furnishings, the people who work there are friendly and helpful— real professionals who take an interest in your decorating mission and are fun to work with. When I needed help addressing a snafu with my order, Julia P stepped right in, was responsive, and quickly set things right. Thank you, Julia, and France and Son.

Sold me a defective product, wouldn't refund

I bought a desk in August, and scheduled to have it shipped in October.

I received the item, and by January, the desk began falling apart. The customer service was awful; getting a response would take weeks. I was merely offered $300 for a +$1,800 (+$200 shipping) desk that is no longer usable. They acknowledged that the problem was a manufacturing defect, but refused to replace it since the problem happened outside of the 60 day window. They gave me a deadline to accept their $300 offer or they’d close the matter. Six months later I am out $2,000 and have a desk that came apart at the seams, which I have to replace because it is not usable.

Do not buy from this company. They have a great selection, but if you need customer support or they sell you a product that doesn't work, it's a nightmare.

Desk Issue Resolution

I recently had an issue with a desk I purchased from France & Son that developed significant cracking sooner than expected. While the situation itself was frustrating, I want to recognize Julia P. from their team for how professionally she handled the resolution.

Julia stayed responsive throughout the process, coordinated with the manufacturer, and ultimately helped secure a full store credit so I could move forward with a replacement. She was courteous, patient, and clearly worked to advocate for a fair outcome.

Customer service makes a big difference when issues arise, and I appreciated Julia’s help in getting this resolved.

Do not buy

Do not buy. In stock items take weeks to be delivered. I am still waiting. They clearly mislead and deflect. I asked for a refund but they claim the item is considered shipped when packaged and waiting to be picked up.... so absurd. I am disputing the charges with my credit card company. If I could go back in time, I would not purchase from them.

We're sorry that you're not happy with the speed of your delivery. We do our best to list the lead times on product pages, and we explain that in stock items have a 3-6 week lead time for most large items, because we use specialty carriers to reduce damage rates. Your experience of waiting a few weeks is normal. We can't find any order matching your name in our system, so we send a request for more info that you didn't complete; however, it seems like you're unhappy with our standard shipping times, and I don't think we can do much to fix anything on that front. We wish you spoke with our team before purchasing or read the shipping info before purchasing, so your expectations could have been set appropriately. It's misleading for you to leave this review if we did everything in accordance with our posted policies and estimates.

I ordered two nightstands from France…

I ordered two nightstands from France and Sons. Unfortunately, one of them was delivered with the marble top chipped. This was not on France and Sons, but the manufacturer. Julie P. at France and Sons was able to resolve this within less than a week and is working on getting my exchange scheduled now. Very easy to work with and great customer service!

Most positive interactions...

My interactions with the staff at France and Son were extremely positive and helpful. I had questions about my item and they were answered both through the chat system and by phone call - helping me make a decision that I am very comfortable with. I note that when our call was dropped or cut off twice, the team member I was conversing with called me back, and didn't leave me to start all over with someone else. Sounds trite but in our days of constant challenge to get to someone easily through these phone systems, this simple outreach meant something.
