James Ball and the entire clinic team ensured I felt secure and comprehensively explained every detail throughout the entire procedure. I underwent ICL surgery, which was remarkably straightforward, swift, and painless, with exceptional aftercare following it. Having dealt with poor vision and the hassle of glasses and contacts for most of my life, I genuinely regret not opting for this sooner. I had my lenses replaced just over a year ago. It was the best decision I have made in years and life changing. The procedure itself was incredibly straight forward, and I experienced no pain afterwards. The follow up care I received from Custom Vision Clinic doesn’t really have comparison. The could not do enough for you. If you are thinking about getting your eyes treated - I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Just had YAG Capsulotomy lazer eye surgery procedure done by James Ball following cataract surgery years ago - everything brilliantly and expertly handled as usual with noticeable improvement in my vision the day after the procedure

Returned to the clinic to have the lens capsule treated in both eyes to remove the 'frosted glass' effect that was affecting my vision.
As previously the clinic explained everything clearly and treated me with great care and respect. The procedure was straight forward and has solved the problem leaving my vision as good as ever.

I had SMILE surgery around 3 months ago (end of August 2024) to correct my short sightedness, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I was on the fence about it for years, but seeing all the great reviews about Custom Vision Clinic, and James Ball (my surgeon for the procedure) convinced me that this was the correct choice for my surgery. The consultation involved the most in-depth eye test I've ever had (probably about 8 different machines). James was incredibly friendly and informative during the consultation and very open about the pros and cons, and the aftercare involved.
The surgery itself was completely painless and lasted maybe 10 minutes from walking in to walking out. Having done some research about the process for the procedure, I was quite nervous about the idea of what would happen and if I would feel any pain or discomfort - the only discomfort of any kind is the very minor stinging from the anesthetic drops beforehand, and this goes after a few seconds. I did feel some stinging around 30 mins post surgery (which I was advised would likely happen and is completely normal), and this went away as soon as I used the anesthetic drops I'd been provided, and I didn't need to use these again.
I was provided with antibiotic and steroid eye drops to use for 7 days following the surgery, as well as lubricating eye drops
to use every hour for the first week, and then roughly 4 times per day from then on.
I had a nap for a couple of hours post surgery and could already start to see a difference after that. As a heavy screen-user at work and home, I found it took a 2/3 weeks to really settle (phone and computer screens seemed to be the most challenging - tablets were fine though) - my eyes felt quite tired at the end of the end of each day as they were constantly adjusting. Plenty of water and regular breaks helped though. I had some glare effects from certain types of lights during those first 2/3 weeks as well, and I was reassured that this was normal so early post surgery. Since those first 2/3 weeks everything has looked and felt great (slightly better than 20-20 vision without glasses!), and I've continued to have periodic check-ups as part of the process.

After a visit to my opticians I was diagnosed with cataract's.
I decided to make an appointment with Custom Vision Clinic, after reading the good reviews it had, with a view to having lens replacement. I saw Consultant Ophthalmologist Jack Gormley who advised I would benefit by having lens replacement.
I went ahead with the surgery and had lens replacement in both eyes and I am so pleased with the outcome as I don’t need to wear glasses any more.
The aftercare service I have received from Jack has been excellent. All the staff are friendly and professional and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Custom Vision Clinic.

Great results, great service. Smile surgery for my wife has given life changing results, curing severe myopia with no problems. Very professional, and the aftercare is extensive. They use the latest Visumax 800, which is highly reassuring.

Excellent in every way. Custom vision was recommended to me by a friend. Everything from start to after care has been excellent. Due to being very short sighted, I was unsuitable for laser, however was offered lens inserts instead (as was too high risk for lens replacement) and I am delighted with the results. Better than 20/20 vision by the next day. I am delighted with the results and am pleased to have invested in myself- only wish I had done it sooner to get the benefits for longer! There was no pressure from the consultation, so go and have a chat through your options and see how you feel!

I had a complex eye prescription - strong long-sightedness (+7 and +7.5), astigmatism, and presbyopia. Additionally, I’ve undergone three surgeries to correct squints and have worn glasses since I was a toddler (I’m now 56). Given these challenges, I never thought eye surgery would be an option for me. However, when presbyopia set in during my fifties, juggling three pairs of glasses (for reading, computer use, and distance) became increasingly frustrating. The final straw was learning that a new pair of varifocals would cost £1100!

I recently decided to have lens replacement surgery, and I am absolutely delighted with the results. My distance and intermediate vision are now excellent, and I only need inexpensive off-the-shelf reading glasses for close-up tasks - which is exactly what I was promised and had hoped for. And this is just two weeks post-surgery! The procedure itself was much quicker than I expected, lasting only about ten minutes. Thanks to the calm and reassuring competence of James Ball, I felt completely relaxed throughout. Every staff member at the clinic was professional, kind, and supportive, making the whole process smooth and stress-free.

I went for a free eye test to see if I could have lens replacement, James and his team made you feel at ease and were very professional throughout the tests and consultation.
James was very detailed in his appraisal of my eyes and although lens replacement isn't right for me, at the moment, it was definitely worthwhile and I appreciated James's advice that will hopefully help reducing the reading glasses coming out as much.

It’s been a year since I received ICL at custom vision clinic and I cannot thank Mr Ball and his amazing team enough, truly the best decision I ever made. Having suffered with poor distance vision from a young age, I’d finally reached a point where I’d had enough of dealing with my contact lenses and glasses and decided to visit custom vision clinic to see what could be done. Given my poor eyesight, approx. -6.5 in each eye, and that I suffered with dry eyes I was advised that ICL surgery would be the better option for me. The surgeries on each eye took place a week apart from each other with a follow up appointment the day after each surgery to check the results, the surgeries themselves were very quick and painless, with detailed and clear pre and post surgery instructions provided. While it took the day for the blurriness to subside after the surgery, I could tell within a few hours how much my eyesight had improved. Having ICL has truly been lifechanging for me, and has improved my life in so many little ways, if you’re considering ICL I cannot recommend custom vision clinic enough!!
