I am done
With only 1/8 of the miner operational, frequent downtime and relocation, I strongly advise against choosing Compass Mining. One of my XP units has been in the repair queue for the past 300 days. Yes, you read that correctly — 300 days for 1 hashboard repair.
Update 1 - Slight Improvement
2/5 S19J online. 3 still pending for relocation
1/3 XP online.
1st XP - needs repair with a temp miner assigned.
2nd XP - after months of relocation, broke down after 2 weeks of mining
3rd XP - offline since 31st JAN 2023. My brand new XP is only online for 3 months since i bought it in 2022. Support did reply they will assign me a temp miner but I am still waiting for it to be online.
Update 2
Temp miner is online as promised, and I received an email from an employee attempting to address the issue I am currently facing. It's good to see things are moving.
Update 3
I was informed that my miner was sent for repair in December, and the repair was completed and redeployed in January. However, it has remained offline the entire time without any updates from support. Did I just lose two months of uptime for no reason?
Update 4
My XP uptime is barely more than 4 months since I bought it in 2022 Nov. Support has been keeping me updated on the entire process but i don't think they can do much from their side as the issue seems to be from facility side? I have mentally write off this miner as there is no way i can recoup my loss with 23 days left from halving, a bunch of repair bills and MINIMAL uptime. The entire jouney with compass started off as OK then it went downhill very fast with the XP defect issue and extremely long repair time.

I recently had the unfortunate…
I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Compass Mining, and I cannot express my disappointment enough. The company's unethical practices, specifically their alleged theft of my miners from Russia, have left a sour taste in my mouth.
To begin with, I was initially attracted to Compass Mining due to their promises of providing a seamless and reliable service for mining equipment. However, my excitement quickly turned to frustration and anger when I realized the reality of their operations.
After investing a significant amount of money in high-quality mining equipment from Russia, I entrusted Compass Mining to facilitate the shipping process and handle all necessary logistics. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse when my miners never arrived, and Compass Mining kept giving me false promises and empty explanations.
Their lack of transparency and accountability throughout the entire ordeal was appalling. Whenever I reached out to their customer support team, I was met with evasive replies, blaming external factors beyond their control. It soon became evident that my miners hadn't simply been delayed or lost in transit; rather, it seemed clear that Compass Mining had intentionally stolen them.
Not only did this experience result in a significant financial loss for me, but it also highlighted the company's utter disregard for its customers. It is unacceptable for a supposedly reputable business to engage in such deceitful practices, especially when dealing with valuable mining equipment.
Furthermore, my attempts to seek redress were met with a complete lack of cooperation from Compass Mining's management. They conveniently ignored my requests for explanations or any form of compensation. It is quite apparent that the company has no intention of taking responsibility for their actions and lacks basic ethical integrity.
I strongly advise potential investors and customers against trusting Compass Mining with their mining equipment or any related transactions. My experience serves as a cautionary tale, highlighting the dangers of dealing with a company that cannot be trusted to handle your assets responsibly and honestly.
In conclusion, Compass Mining's alleged theft of my Russian miners has exposed their dishonorable practices and lack of integrity. Save yourself the frustration, financial loss, and disappointment by staying away from this unscrupulous company.
Good and accurate support and help
Lea at Compass Mining had helped me with a question about placing the newly purchased miners on a different mining pool and I was very happy with the quick headsup and accurate information given to me by Lea !!! Everyone at Compass mining starting from John Degnan in Sales to all of the Support Team get a 5 Star ***** Review from me !!! Compass Mining has made it easy for me to mine Bitcoin !!! Wonderful people and company who are as real and everyday people just like me !!! I will be buying a third batch of miners in 2024 January !!!
I really had high hopes for this company
I really had high hopes for this company. If I could do it all over again I would definitely go another route. I have not had any different experience than many of the others when it comes to being unresponsive and zero service. The most recent is I wired in my hosting fees for December and instead of using that to pay my hosting fees they just put it in my credits. Of course I start to get email after email about not paying. They then shut down my miners and refuse to respond. All businesses go through rough patches and I would expect that compass is no different. If they would just respond to emails or offer any kind of service it would eliminate a lot of this angst. If you are looking for good service and communication go somewhere else. You will get neither at compass.

Edited 12/13:
Felt it was important to respond to John’s passive aggressive reply.
“All I had to do was reach out to you, John?”
AND
“The common theme among our unhappy customers is that they failed to reach out to us?”
John, I give you credit for trying to turn the tables and place Compass’s failures on your customers. That said, the people that have posted reviews are your (paying) customers, not the other way around. We pay Compass to deliver on commitments and provide customer service, which objectively speaking, isn’t happening.
I’ve filed 10+ support tickets and sent countless emails about miners that have now been in “transition” for 6 months. I sent those emails because those are the instructions I have been given repeatedly by your colleagues, as well as what your website recommends. I have multiple email chains documenting as such. I didn’t see “Reach out to John D to solve all your problems if Support doesn’t” as an option.
Since I joined Compass more than 2 years ago, the only emails I’ve received from you are related to selling me more product. Stop trying to cast blame on your customers for failing to reach out to their “account rep,” who brags about having 6000 other customers.
The fact that you are on TrustPilot responding to these reviews is commendable. However, it seems like Compass is failing to take accountability and ownership that they have failed customers and are continuing to do so. Instead, guilt tripping customers for not having the foresight to reach out to their account rep to solve problems. I know at least 15 other Compass customers who are unhappy and planning to transition away from Compass when their contract(s) expire not due to costs, but because of service, or lack thereof.
You can try to spin this all you want, but at the end of the day Compass has 600+ reviews and a 2.9 rating.
Like the great JayZ says “Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t.”

Stay Away - Overpromise and Underdeliver
The lackluster ranking says it all. Been a customer with Compass going on 2+ years. Have 40 miners hosted across 5 providers and have more issues with Compass than all of the others put together.
For example, TX4 miners have been offline and in "transition" since May/June. Yes, you read that right. The only updates are monthly, which state "Redeployment continuing," as if they think their customers are stupid. How does cleaning and redeployment take >1/2 year with all of their supposed "resources" ? And yet, they've offered nothing to make it right. Newsflash, Compass: issuing credits for downtime when I am still paying hosting fees for offline miners isn't a nice gesture.
And let's not even get started about the Russia miners. I don't put it on Compass they were confiscated, as that was a calculated risk I agreed to. However, for that to happen a year ago and not provide ANY update and/or SOME form of compensation for impacted customers?
That was $60K down the drain for me. What do you think Compass would do if you owed them $60K and didn't pay? And yet, they have the audacity to try and continue selling me product. SUGGESTION FOR COMPASS: Get your house in order before you try selling more product.

As a Compass Mining customer
As a Compass Mining customer, I have faced significant challenges with the prolonged relocation process of my Antminer S19 XP from the Texas 4 facility. Despite an substantial investment, two of my miners have been offline for a year, leading to considerable financial and operational setbacks.
The primary task at hand was the relocation of my miners from the Texas 4 facility to a new location. However, this seemingly straightforward process has been marred by extensive delays and a lack of clear communication. The responses to my repeated inquiries about the status of my miner were often vague, providing no specific timelines or detailed updates.
The situation was exacerbated by inconsistent service experiences; while a few of my miners where successfully redeployed, others, including the Antminer S19 XP, remained in limbo. This inconsistency highlighted operational inefficiencies within Compass Mining.
While I understand the challenges inherent in large-scale mining operations, the fundamental issue here was the simple relocation of miners, a task that should not have resulted in such extended downtime. Transparency, prompt communication, and efficient logistical management are key to customer satisfaction, especially when handling high-value equipment.
Recommendations for Improvement:
Streamlined Relocation Process: Simplifying and accelerating the relocation process would significantly reduce equipment downtime.
Improved Communication: Providing regular, detailed updates on the status of equipment relocation and addressing customer queries promptly is essential.
Compensation for Downtime: Implementing a policy to compensate customers for prolonged inactivity could help alleviate financial losses and build trust.
Operational Transparency: Full disclosure regarding the challenges and delays in the relocation process would enhance customer understanding and patience.
In summary, the experience with Compass Mining has been disappointing, primarily due to the lengthy and poorly communicated relocation process. For better customer relations, it is imperative that Compass Mining focuses on improving its communication and operational efficiency, especially in straightforward tasks such as equipment relocation.

Once had great potential, customer service ruined it for them. - UPDATE: Resolved!
UPDATE - I am happy to report that CompassMining has resolved the matter with me, they provided me with a temporary miner while my own miner migration completes - which is really a smart solution. I just feel this could have been proposed by customer support long time ago, it would have saved me all the heart ache I went through dealing with customer support, I am not sure why customer support chose to ignore my tickets. Regardless, it's always good to know that they care enough ultimately. Thank you for resolving this and I look forward to many more years with you as a customer.
-----
This company had great potential, ONLY if they care about their customer service. I pay all my invoices on time, I have been with them for three years, yet when their TX4 datacenter was shut down and they started relocating customers to TX5. Most other customers, some I know PERSONALLY who are VERY recent customers and were referred to them by ME, got relocated and up and running in their TX5 data center. While, they chose to relocate me very last, ignored my emails for updates, and simply show extreme lack of care. They get to do this because they you at very disadvantageous position by holding your miners hostage, if you delay invoice payment, they'll turn off your other miners, so they have this leverage at you and they feel so secure about ignoring your requests. Very untrustworthy.

Compass has terrible customer service…
Compass has terrible customer service and not very honest with their business dealings. The miner I have was offline for a large part of the summer and was only up for a few days in the fall. They then said they were going to send it to another location. It has been 2 months since they turned it off. They say that they will keep you updated but I have to go to their site and all it says is that they are the process of moving miners. This isn't an update. On top of it they have charged a service fee for those months. I reached out to their customer service but it is always the same response. Last year I filed a compaint with the Better Business Bureau and apologized for the shoddy service but things would get much better with a focus on customer service. None of this has been true. Also over the summer the bank they did service with became insolvent and was shut-down. All I got was an email shortly before this happened. I had to rush to get my money out of their account before I lost it all. It's been one thing after another and I still don't have a status about my miner. I have been thinking of contacting the Better Business Bureau again and/or a legislative representative.

A Frustrating Experience
Choosing to mine with Compass has been the worst financial decision I've ever made. This company has been entirely unreliable, missing nearly EVERY deadline or timeframe they ever set.
My units came online 2 MONTHS after the expected activation. They have now been offline for the last 6 weeks.
I had another unit go offline 6 months ago and at this point I'm convinced I'll never see it online again. All I've heard from customer service is that it's "loaded on a pallet and being moved". Months go by and all they have to say is "yeah it's still on its way to another facility".
I own 5 units with Compass for a total of 504 TH/s and my average hashrate for the last 5 months has been 220 TH/s!
LESS THAN HALF OF WHAT I PURCHASED. Avoid them at all costs. You'd be better off burning your money, then at least you can keep your hands warm.
UPDATE: The sales agent (not sure what his role is) who replied to this review was able to address my concerns and I now have all of my units online. I've updated my rating to reflect this and will continue to update it over the next few months if things go smoothly.

Worst company I have worked with in my life
DO NOT buy or host anything from compass or you will regret for your life. They don't care about anything about after you pay them. It's just an eye opener to see all the issues I have had with them -
1. Miners deployed with 2 months delay without any clear notice.
2. Miners constantly down and 95% uptime is a joke. They also make up excuses.
3. I was taking possession of my miners and paid all the invoices and shipping fees four months ago and they haven't shipped my miner still and they won't give an ETA. Created a ticket and all ticket updates from them are garbage. I suspect they were using my miner for their own mining during the period.
You money is better off just buying bitcoin if you want get involved. Stay away from Compass.

Avoid this company. You will lose time and your entire investment.
My journey with Compass Mining has been nothing short of turbulent from the outset, characterized by broken promises, a lack of communication, and serious doubts about their operational competence.
I purchased several miners, anticipating solid returns and reliable service. However, the reality has been starkly different. Delays started early, with my units sitting idle for weeks, turning into months. What was promised as a quick and straightforward procedure for getting miners online turned into an odyssey, with extended periods without earnings or mining activity, severely undermining my investment.
Communication with Compass Mining has been a dead end. Despite my repeated attempts to reach a resolution, responses have been evasive, with empty promises of “a few weeks/months” of waiting time. My requests to move my miners out of Texas, due to the inexplicable decision to host them there, have been ignored.
After several months, my patience has run out. I’ve lost a significant amount of time and financial resources due to the inactivity of my miners, and the company has offered no tangible form of compensation or shown genuine willingness to rectify the situation.
At this point, I’ve escalated the matter by filing a formal complaint with the SEC, given the situation’s gravity. To other potential customers, I would advise proceeding with extreme caution. The lack of transparency, poor management, and total indifference to customer concerns are, in my experience, indicative of Compass Mining’s operations.

Compass is very good overall, but you have to put in the time to manage your miners...and that is not a bad thing.
I have worked with Compass for 14 months now. I have similar experiences as most everyone here does. If I were to write my review last year, it would be 3 stars but now I would give them 4 1/2 stars (always room for improvement).
They have improved significantly over the last year and they have taken to heart and acted upon many user issues. The naming conventions for miners were always wonky and they have fixed that for the most part.
The Dashboard does need to be improved in regard to how they just lump all your miners together. Meaning, I dont want to see all my miners in the same grouping if they are in different facilities. that makes no sense to me to see Texas 3, Texas 4, Oklahoma, Ohio 2 within the same dropdown. I would like to have facility listed as its own and then all the miners I have there. This would bring a lot more clarity. Yes, they have changed the worker-name to reflect exact location, but the dashboard can be improved. I do hear though that the site and dashboard will be upgraded and improved shortly so again, they do listed to comments from customers.
Communication is still in issue, especially in regard to updates on the whole Texas relocation situation, I will give you that. But, I work with other hosting providers besides Compass and Texas was just a nightmare for everybody this year. The heat, curtailment and downtime was rampant for everyone so I do understand that a lot of this is out of their control.
Related to downtime and credits, no company is promising you 95% uptime. Most companies, including Compass, give you credits for downtime less than 95%. I go over my invoice every month and look at my revenue per miner and I calculate downtime as best I can, and, I honestly think Compass has compensated and credited me adequately for downtime.
Regarding support, I, like many, have had issues with support requests. Last year, it took too long, for sure. This year, I have received support responses almost always in 48 hours or less. Now, this is the big thing I can advise: if your support request does not answer your question, or, you have more complex questions, or if you have many, many questions, don't waste your time doing support requests. Set up a call with your sales rep!
My rep is John Degnan and he has proved to be a wealth of knowledge and tremendous support for me. I am sure it works the same with all their reps, but, he will give you access to his online calendar and you just schedule a call with him whenever you want. Normally they are 1/2 hour blocks, but, if you need more time, he will make the time for you. He even advised me to set up regular calls.
The #1 thing he has taught me is that we need to treat our mining operation as a business (whether you have 1 miner or a 100). And, Compass does do a lot of the work for us, but, not all of it, and they will never care about or be on top of your miner situation as much as you are. That's the way it is. So, keep track of your miners like you are managing a portfolio. And, when support is not understanding my question or problem or they are not helpful, I know I can just contact John and we can hash it out, and invariably he cuts to the chase and solves my problem.
Mining is complex. Emailing and submitting requests is good for simple or quick questions, but, if you have lots to discuss you owe it to yourself and your mining business to contact your rep and get resolution.
I would say any hosting operation is going to have their pros and cons. None of them are perfect. The main thing you have to decide is if your hosting company is willing to take feedback and do the right thing for you nine times out of ten. I honestly feel Compass is doing great in this respect.

Compass Mining is borderline a scam
UPDATE 1:
My miner has been offline for 4 months already. I was told my miner would be sent for repair at once when my miner stopped hashing, then I was told they misplaced my miner and it never left Ontario facility, it was just gathering dust for 2 months. Then they tell me the miner will stay in Ontario and a repair technician would repair it in 2-3 weeks. It was not repaired. Now they are telling me my miner is being repaired right now, but somehow cannot give an estimate when it will be done repairing. THEY HAVE NOT CHANGED ONE BIT!!
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Compass Mining is borderline a scam. They do as they wish with your miners. Your miners will mine when they want them to mine. They do not answer any tickets. Compass customer service decided to change my miner name. I told him not to touch my miner not to change anything or my mi er would stop mining. He disregarded everything I said and did exactly what I told him not to do. Now my miner is offline he closed the ticket without even realizing that when he changes the name the miner stopped mining. They do not care about you after you buy the miner from them. Once they receive your money you no longer matter. All they are going to do is send emails for half of the month telling you to pay you fees while your miner has been offline for the past 2 months. They do not answer tickets. If they do its weeks later and don’t even help in any way. I had no problems with the deployment’s of my 2 miners, they were fast with that. But it's no use when the miner is mostly offline. They tell you they will give you 95% uptime. That is a lie. I am desperate to sell those miners right now. I want nothing to do with comoassmining.io don't wast your money, host somewhere else. I will be selling my two miners with compass and buy them elsewhere. Never ever in your life consider compassmining, you will regret it horribly.
