Scammed
At 5 am in DCA I was waiting in security check when approached by someone in uniform who asked me to step over to a line he was opening . He stood behind an unattended podium and asked to see my ID (passport) and credit card I had used to purchase my ticket. He then said I could use special security line for free and directed me to that line. It was the regular general security line, not TSA precheck. On my credit card statement 2 weeks later was a charge for $209.
Clear is nothing more than a scam
Clear is nothing more than a scam. They scooped me up in a hurry and signed me up; I didn't really even understand what was happening - I thought airport officials were requiring this of me.
Then I try to use it on my returning flight and it's not even working! Such an atrocious scam, and so superfluous and unnecessary. High chances you won't even be able to use it. They also told me I'd be notified before auto renewal and surprise surprise, they didn't.
Complete Scam
Whilst in the queue at JFK security I was appraoched and asked if I wanted to take part in a trial for $1, to skip the queue. I was told there would be no other charges and I could try it for one week, so I agreed. Now 2 weeks later they have taken $209 out of my account, with no notice, no emails. Told Visa this is fraud and they are going to cancel it. Even the login page of their website is blocked by my anti virus as being a scam website. Put a complaint into report fraud US gov as many others have. DO NOT USE - SCAM!
Worst Service Ever
Worst Service Ever! Promised expedition on the security check process at airport....nothing is farther from the truth. DO NOT USE
Horrid service at PHX - Terminal 3
Trying to use Clear at PHX Term 3 the scanning process was horrible for all of 2025. I would have my boarding pass scanned to get in line, I had my boarding pass scanned a second time while waiting in line for absolute duplication of effort with no improved results. Then I would go to facial recognition for Clear wait for the system to do the scan then I moved to TSA to have another facial recognition done. Horribly frustrating process as compared to ATL, DTW and other airports where you get your boarding pass scanned once and facial recognition once and you are done.
In February 2026, CLEAR upgraded to one scan of the boarding pass, and one scan of a facial recognition. On 02/13, I was delighted with the improvement and the efficiency of the process. I spoke to my colleagues about the improvement and recommended they buy Clear to expedite their travel.
On 02/20, seven days later, the experience was back to the flawed process combined with the worse customer service experience I have ever experienced at any Clear location.
I scanned my boarding pass to get in to the lane and walked as I did the previous week to be accosted by a Clear agent with the last name Taylor. She hid her badge after showing new levels of bad customer service. She said you have to scan your boarding pass again. I told her ‘last week I scanned once and went to facial recognition’ to get ‘go stand over there’. No acknowledgment of my comment or why the process reverted back in the old way. I continue to ask why and her only response was ‘go stand over there’ which is no good for a veteran traveler. When I ask again and she did not give me a proper response, her supervisor stepped in and repeated the same words ‘go stand over there’. It was obvious that they had no ability to discern or answer any questions other than ‘go stand over there’. After my boarding pass was scanned a second time they told me which line to go get facial recognition in and I was walking off when the agent last name Taylor said ‘if you dont like it you can go somewhere else’ which hit me like a brick because I pay for Clear and as a customer I expect good service but at the very least polite people even when they fail to provide good service. This is when Ms. Taylor covered her badge so she thought she was going to get out of a formal complaint. Needless to say, at PHX Terminal 3 Ms. Taylor provided horrible service. I have file a formal complaint for Ms Taylor and her supervisor.
Total SCAM
First it was an insanely busy line, and a TSA person asked me if I want to skip the line FOR FREE. Well, of course I do. Then she does all this crap, and tells me I owe a dollar. Then she tell me to stop at some place in my home airport if I want to KEEP the service. Since I didn’t want to keep it because I very rarely fly, I didn’t stop. Two weeks later they took $230 out of my account. Now I have overdraft because I was not expecting that. How is this sh!t legal?!?!??
Waste of time
Clear at the Las Vegas airport uses disgustingly pushy sales tactics. Once you get all signed up and get in their “fast pass line”, you end up waiting longer than you would in the seemingly long line as the long line is the only one actually moving. On top of that, you just wasted 15-30 minutes getting scammed by the clear employee.
Do not sign up for this at the Airport
Do not sign up for this at the Airport. This is a high pressure company that misrepresents themselves at busy airports. My experience happened at the Orlando Airport. At this time I'm working on a refund and not getting anywhere. At the airport I was told CLEAR was free for the day and that my Credit card would have a dollar charge on it and that would be returned to me. I was charge $334.00. When I chatted with CLEAR the rep. told me I waited to long cancel and I had to do it within 14 days. FYI - there was no charge to my account until day 14, and since I thought I had a one day trial I did even know was going to be charged $334.00. I am currently working to get my refund.I also wrote a formal email complain toCLEAR regarding their pressure tactics.
The operating model involves signing…
The operating model involves signing people up for a two-week free trial at the airport, then charging the full annual membership fee of ~$200 once the trial ends. I gave this a one-star review because the airport staff repeatedly reassured me I would not be charged. Despite my questioning, they insisted no charge would appear on my credit card.
Luckily, I was able to get a full refund and cancel the membership, but it wasn't easy. I was bombarded with various promotions and had to repeat my request to cancel four times before they finally processed it. This suggests the process is difficult by design. I'll never trust them again. Unfortunately for them, trust is easy to lose and very difficult to earn.
CLEAR automatically charged my credit…
CLEAR automatically charged my credit card $209 for a renewal even though we did not use the service at all and did not take any trips. The charge went through without any meaningful reminder, and when I tried to resolve it, the automated customer service chat was completely unhelpful.
All I wanted was to cancel the membership and get my money back, but there was no easy way to speak to a real person or get an actual solution. For a service this expensive, the lack of proper customer support is unacceptable.
If you don’t closely monitor your credit card statements, they’ll quietly auto-renew and take your money. Be very careful. This experience left a really bad impression, and I will not be using CLEAR again.
Bad Enrollment Experience
My elderly mother recently visited the CLEAR office at Sawgrass Mills, and the experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. To begin with, they dont give you clear instructions about how to find the enrollment location. Sawgrass Mills is enormous, and without instructions, it’s very easy to get lost — especially for someone older who already has difficulty hearing.
When my mom finally located the office, things only got worse. The attendant was rude, impatient, and completely lacking in basic customer service skills. Instead of speaking clearly or showing even a minimum level of courtesy, the staff member acted annoyed and dismissive. This behavior caused my mom unnecessary stress during a process that should have been simple and supportive.
For a service that claims to make travel easier, this location failed in every possible way. CLEAR should seriously reconsider the training and professionalism of the staff at this site, as well as improve the visibility and accessibility of the office inside the mall.
This is a total scam
This is a total scam. They claim they are merging with TSA. This is totally false. They also claim no wait at security again totally false. Save your money and go with TSA pre-check.
Not to be trusted
After cancelling my membership ( confirmed by them). They tried to charge my credit card two weeks later.
Stress-free? Ha!
In an effort to begin our overseas vacations smoother and less stressful, I decided to engage a concierge at ATL. This was our very first time using clear anywhere. While the staff was very helpful in resolving a payment issue, ( i had to pay again on site for service i had already paid for),it was truly a hassle which took 3x longer than precheck. I won't use it again and won't renew it. This is one instance where govt run anything is better than private. Clear is a worthless joke.
Beware of auto-renewal after trial
Beware of auto-renewal after trial. When you find it on your credit card statement and try to cancel, they will not give you a refund. The service is not worth the cost.
My experience with CLEAR at San Diego…
My experience with CLEAR at San Diego Airport was extremely disappointing, and much of that comes down to poor management. The process was disorganized, inefficient, and far from the “expedited” service that CLEAR advertises.
Ron, the manager, demonstrated unprofessional and dismissive behavior. Instead of addressing concerns or helping resolve issues, he made the situation worse through poor communication and an obvious lack of leadership. A manager should support both customers and staff, but Ron appeared uninterested in doing either.
The staff overall seemed confused and unsupported, which reflects directly on management. CLEAR is supposed to reduce stress at the airport, but this location added unnecessary frustration and wasted time.
I would not recommend CLEAR at San Diego Airport unless there are serious improvements in leadership, accountability, and customer service.
Never give notification of renewal…
Never give notification of renewal until shows up on your credit card statement and won’t refund as can’t get to talk with live agent only waste your time on an Ai chat. Do t waste your money not worth it!!!!
The Clear over at Las Vegas Airport…
The Clear over at Las Vegas Airport Terminal 1 is incompetent. Why would you split two lines and make it difficult to get to? Either u walk all the way around to get to your location or go through the crappy side when you clearly paid for the shit service! Im pissed
Your employee are stupid racist
Your employee are stupid racist
My wife was traveling alone through…
My wife was traveling alone through O’Hare Airport with two babies and was standing in the regular TSA line. Halfway through the line, a man approached her and asked if he could help since she was struggling with the kids.
She reasonably assumed he was an airport or TSA employee.
Instead, he was a CLEAR sales agent.
He pressured her into signing up for a CLEAR membership, implying that if she did not sign up, she would be sent to the back of the TSA line. Under stress, with two babies in her arms and fearing missing her flight, she felt she had no choice.
She handed over her credit card against her will and was immediately charged $200.
This was not consent — it was coercion. Targeting a mother traveling alone with infants and using her vulnerable situation to force a paid subscription is predatory, deceptive, and unethical. At no point was it made clear that this was a sales pitch, not assistance.
CLEAR should be ashamed of allowing this type of behavior at airports. I will be disputing this charge and filing formal complaints. I strongly warn other travelers: do not assume CLEAR agents are there to help you.
