Total incompetence and complete lack of customer focus

I don't know where to start you just could not make up the catalogue of false reassurance an inability to listen to the fault I was reporting.
I was very unhappy with the quality of the service I received and with the surly and arrogant attitude of staff at Llanelli for a recent service.
I was concerned about a clunking sound coming from the suspension of my car and at the behest of Cawdor (from whom I purchased the car) I took it into Cawdor Llanelli for a 6 year service and was told that the front near side suspension coil had snapped so I agreed to pay for that to be repaired.
However I had to wait an additional 24 hours for the part to be sourced and when the car was finally repaired the following day I was a bit shocked by the £430 bill but felt at least the car had been thoroughly checked (as it transpired this was not the case).
I asked the reception(Girl A) if the logbook was stamped and Girl A replied that the technicians were always conscientious about this process. I proceeded to drive away from the garage car park and was dismayed that a clunking sound was still present but I made the naïve assumption that this must have been a loose exhaust or something unrelated which I would check on getting home. When I got home, there were no obvious visible sign of any loose parts but was annoyed to find that the logbook had not been stamped. I asked myself what kind of service is this?
Within the next 48 hours, I drove back to the Cawdor Garage and explained to reception that I was a bit annoyed at the logbook not being stamped and that there was still a clunking noise with the suspension. Girl A apologised for this, stamped the book and arranged for me to return with the car for a further free of charge inspection while taking note of our conversation.

When I returned to the garage with the car for further inspection, I met a surly man (supervisor/manager) who had no idea of the history of events that I had already provided to Cawdor and had to recount in detail again the recent issues with the service.
He looked at me with an attitude of somewhere between contempt and disbelief and I was told that he would have to arrange for me to take a drive with a technician to establish the source of the clunking. I explained to him that I did not have the time because I had to be at work and that the clunking was completely obvious at low speed when changing down from third to second gear.
He agreed to continue with the inspection on this basis and he phoned me later that day and told me “you are not going to believe this but that the rear coil suspension is now damaged” which would incur further cost and “you are not going to like this but we can’t source the parts until tomorrow” resulting in further inconvenience.
I was very unhappy at this point and considered the situation as to whether I trusted this garage to do any more work so I explained I would call the garage after reviewing my options.
I explained to the supervisor that the book had not been stamped after the service and that they had not carried out the service to a satisfactory standard and that they should now assume responsibility and cost for what they had clearly missed in the original inspection.
In the interim, I logged a complaint via an online service and was called the following day by Mr A form Cawdor Aberystwyth who seemed genuinely concerned and appalled by my recounting the episode.
After some consideration, I phoned the supervisor who had mistakenly believed that the log book had been stamped immediately after the service. I explained that I did not say that it had not been stamped but that I had to make a retrospective visit for this book-stamping event. He then went on to say that, I had not explained that sufficiently to him and that we would have to agree to disagree about the standard of the service. He maintained that the inspection was adequate while I insisted that I heard clunking upon leaving the forecourt after the original service.
He said, “in the interest of customer relations he would undertake the labour costs of any further work but that the cost of the part was down to me and that he would not guarantee the work!”
I think even a layperson would be able to identify the inconsistency between a commitment to provide customer relations followed by a counter statement to say that there would be no guarantee provided for it!
I contacted the garage to see how the work was progressing and was told by Girl B that they require yet more parts because mounting bushes for the rear coil spring have corroded.
However, they waited the whole day for the rear suspension coil to arrive only to find that the new coil could not be fitted because new mounting bushes need to be ordered. Perhaps if they had tried to remove the snapped coil earlier in the day it would have afforded the technician the time to order a new part?
I later explained to Girl B on reception that the divisive offer of covering the cost of the labour but without the guarantee was inconsistent with what constituted good customer relations. Girl B told me that the supervisor was making a good and generous offer as well as providing me with a courtesy car and that I should in some way be appreciative of that.
My argument is that I would not have needed the courtesy car if the original service been satisfactory!
Girl B asked what I thought should be done to redress the situation and I said because of the considerable inconvenience that at the very least Cawdor should undertake the cost of the parts and labour for any subsequent work.
When i returned to the garage I was again told that the car had been fixed and road tested but lo and behold the clunking was still present.
I left the car overnight and the problem was finally diagnosed as a loose anti roll bar just as I had maintained all along! What a waste of time and energy!

In summary i just want the garage to realise that I paid £430 in good faith for a service.
The service was not carried out to a satisfactory standard and staff have not been able to recognise this and were reluctant to acknowledge they were at fault and the considerable inconvenience this has caused.

Bought our new mondeo from Cawdor…

Bought our new mondeo from Cawdor Cardigan, fantastic service from start to finish, very patient showing us all the new technology when we picked up the new car up as we were a bit out of touch having kept our old mondeo for 15 years. We would highly recommend this dealership.
