I received a targeted offer for 40% back on ParkSleepFly through Capital One Shopping. I booked a hotel/parking package totaling roughly $450. There was absolutely zero warning on the activation screen or checkout page that the 40% would only apply to a tiny $59 merchant deposit, resulting in a small $23 credit instead of the advertised rate on the full purchase.
You have to dig through microscopic hyperlinks in marketing emails to find this exclusion. I think Capital One Shopping intentionally splashes a massive percentage next to a full hotel package to bait the click, knowing full well it only applies to pennies. I think they use deceptive marketing—be incredibly wary of using their travel portal offers.

I installed Capital One Shopping hoping it would actually help me save money while browsing, which is the entire premise they advertise. Instead, I got a relentless stream of pop-ups and notifications that constantly interrupted what I was doing. It felt less like a helpful tool and more like an aggressive marketing engine running in the background of my browser.

The coupons were the bigger disappointment. Nearly every time a code was offered, it either didn’t apply at checkout, was expired, or simply didn’t work as promised. After enough failed attempts, it became clear that the “savings” are largely theoretical and more of a hook to keep you engaged with the extension than a source of real value.

I deleted both the app and the browser extension before ever attempting to redeem rewards because the core product never delivered on its misleading offerings. A browser extension that monitors your activity needs to justify that access with consistent, tangible results. This one didn’t.

I’d strongly urge anyone considering it to read the privacy policy carefully before installing. The data collection scope is broad, capturing your browsing history, purchase behavior, and location, and once that data is collected, deleting the app doesn’t make it disappear. That’s a significant trade-off for a coupon tool that couldn’t reliably apply a discount code.

Would not recommend, and I won’t be returning.

I made some purchases last month with active offers like spend 50 get 50 back. Because of this offers I deactivated another valuable offers just to find out weeks later that Capital One shopping denied the offers as ineligible. I followed their shady instructions. Don't trust them and don't deactivate any offers you have outside Capital One Shopping or you will get nothing.

After doing much research I would not do this app. Follow the actual reviews. When clicking on the 5 star reviews it is obvious that they are all bots. Or they used this app two years ago. I luckily did not download this app nor do I plan on it. If you end up still shopping through it after reading through all the reviews than that is on you.

Capital One Shopping does not credit rewards properly. Don’t trust this app. If you complain that you were not properly credited with a reward, customer service will deny your claim.

Too many times my reward purchase either was deemed "ineligible" or the reward amount was substantially less than what the offer I clicked on advertised (seems like someone should be able to get them on false advertising). When trying to get help from customer service, the response is either "it hasn't been long enough" or "this is what the store reported," both ending with "we can't do anything." Adding to my dissatisfaction is the unreliability of specific gift card availability. Lowe's/HomeDepot/Kohl's are only available intermittently so you can't count on those. I'm done with them.

Scamer's website, software that steals your data. No reward you can get.

Pretty much what everyone on here has already stated, I've dealt with. Currently my rewards are -$54... how does that even happen? How do you go negative in rewards? It's such a scam and I'm permanently alienated from CapOne now. I paid that card off and will no longer use it. Screw me? Screw you!

Modern day era BAIT & SWITCH! Clicked on the link and it showed tickets for $137. Went to go about a possible purchase and NOPE!! Just under 200 was the best. SCAM!!

This app is a waste of time i've made serval purchases using it follow the instruction to the T and still have purchases show up as ineligible. This app basically stalks your shopping habits, lures you in the spend more with offers like 50 dollars cashback after spending 50 or 20 for 20 but when as soon as you dispute in engilible offer they give you a canned message about how you did something wrong while ignoring all the proof you provide them. If you want to run a bunch of dead coupon codes its a great app. If you want to save money its a useless one.

I received an offer for 60% back in rewards from Lands End and $10 back from $20 purchase at Ulta. I made the purchases correctly following all the proper steps. I have screenshots of the offer visible in the upper right corner of the website on my checkout page. I used the offer immediately after accepting it and read all the exclusions and fine print. Big shocker! No pending rewards :(
Lands End shows coupon savings only and Ulta has a pending $1.53 reward. Where is the 60% reward on my $178 Lands End purchase? After exhaustively searching for customer service at Capital One Shopping I came upon an option to send a message to them about specific purchases. I included all the information including screenshots but the reply was an obvious AI generated generic response. It’s really surprising that this company hasn’t been sued or fined for practices that would appear misleading and blatant false advertisement. I understand they get away with alot of this by having many exclusions and a very specific checkout process BUT I read the fine print and followed the procedure.

B U Y E R B E W A R E... On the surface, this program sounds great. But RARELY DOES THE PROMISED REWARD MONEY actually process and tranlate into reward dollars deposited into your account.

So many glitches, such a poor consumer experience (overpromise and underdeliver), ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE and hours of frustration trying to capture your reward money that rarely ever shows up.

Yes, getting 20% back on a $1200 Stubhub purchase is great, but spending weeks (or even 90 days wait period) to complete a "missing reward money" form is an ABSOLUTE JOKE.

Bottom line, there is a reason why this business only rates 1.3*. Very rare to find a business that can stay in business with such a LOW RATING.

Consider yourself warned.

Received email activation link for $50 rewards on $50 purchase for MAC and another one for Ulta. Figured, Heck I'll buy and get my "money" back in a gift card. Made the purchases at each website (read the exclusion's - which was just gift cards) both purchases were over $50 before tax and any other discounts. Got an email saying I earned the $50 from Ulta, only to go on to my dashboard and see that both purchases were ineligible. I would not have bought if I was not going to get the rewards. This is BAITH n SWITCH DECIEVING! Lost $100 of rewards

Appears to be a complete scam. I receive offers all the time only to find when I click through, the links to buy dont work. For instance today, I received a link to save up to 18% at apple. I immediately tried and the links didnt work. I called capital one and they said that they must be sold out. I clicked 5 min after receiving the link.

I call this the Capital One shopping Scam because that’s what it is! I have yet to see anyone receive The $ amount you’re supposed to get when you share the referral link nor when You first download the extension or app on your device and follow the instructions to a T and wait the 3 months! Customer service is obviously trained to go along with this Scam and give you the list of excuses they have prepared for you when you contact them. I went toe to toe with them and they were relentless in their efforts to Not honor their side of the bargain. This isn’t new and people are talking about it for years.Its wrong and I don’t know why such a Big company like Capital One would want to have this kind of thing attached to their name. It’s BS in my opinion.

Never received my $50 reward after completing required steps to receive it. Customer service is a joke. Asked me for a receipt which I provided. Said it wasn’t a receipt even though it was an electronic receipt from the merchant. Won’t use it again. Total scam.

Uses fine print to back out of paying you your rewards

Similar to what others are reporting: I received a link for a purchase offer for a generous discount and I followed the rules and made the purchase. BTW, the link was for the specific item I was interested in, not just a discount for that retailer. I received confirmation of the purchase from capital one shopping and confirmation of my reward and the amount. Shortly after, I saw that the purchase was marked ineligible and the rewards were gone. At this point, the return window was closed and I am stuck. After waiting the full 60 days for verification, I reached out via the link on their site and filled out their form and attached the screenshots and receipts. I continue to get a generic response saying that after looking at my case, my item was marked ineligible by the retailer and here are the possible reasons this may have happen. Not the specific reason. And it's the same response over and over. No phone number listed, impossible to get a direct answer. They messed up but are not willing to admit it or accept responsibility or pay out. Their customer service is unacceptable. What's worse is even though they are part of capital one, no one else is able to get a hold of them either. I've called the general credit card customer service and even my credit card, and they are not able to get a response either.
