Top scam
if there was a possibility of negative five star this one desrves it. Total sham. Never paid anything and novel ways to deny all rewards after the purchase. No legitimate customer service.
This company is a complete FRAUD
This company is a complete FRAUD! I used it for years accumulting enough points for a $200 Bed Bath and Beyond gift card. When trying to use the gift card at BED BATH & BEYOND, the balance is $0. I have contacted Capital One and Bed Bath and Beyond multiple times and they say it is not their issue and point fingers at each other! I have completely lost faith in either company.

The $50 promotion bonus was not applied to my purchases. Only basic cash back was credited, and customer support was unavailable. I am returning the products to the store and removing the extension.

Most of the offers turn out to be fraudulent -- maybe there's some fine print I don't see, but most of the time the deals I follow through on are deemed 'ineligible.' I think the system is that if you've ever taken an offer on a specific merchant before, you can't have more, even if they keep sending you emails. Very frustrating! I suspected the positive reviews are planted.
Offers don’t work
Offers don’t work. So will be using my other cc more. This will no longer be my main card.
WOW- a total ripoff
WOW. So disappointed in the capital one shopping rewards program. At first, it was great. Then I started noticing amounts I was supposed to be earning were constantly being 'adjusted' down even though I wasn't returning anything. The final straw was going from having over $30 available to spend to that changing to a NEGATIVE $17 balance. They literally took back a $50 reward I had earned AND used to purchase a gift card. Then, or course, I received a vague canned answer as to why. I uninstalled the extension and deleted my account.
Refuse to payout
They have paid out some small offers but when I put my renovation cost (homedepot) for thousands of dollars, they just refuse to pay out, customer service keeps blame for it even though they have no concrete reason to offer me.
I wish I could give zero stars you get…
I wish I could give zero stars you get an email or go on their website to buy something to be able to get the rewards and every time there's a problem that they didn't see the shopping trip or something you send them all the receipts screenshots and they still say oh it must've disconnected or I navigated away from the screen. It's all a bunch of bs and they should need to close this website down. 15 out of 15 trips they had to give me a manual adjustment after submitting everything I had for proof but yet now they said I'm out of manual adjustments, even though I showed them and all the documentation and was owed adjustments from the beginning now that it's been past my 90 days that I can't return something lucky enough for them. It's too late in the companies win because it's too late to return anything and they won't give you your rebate.
So frustrating
So frustrating! I click the link FROM THEIR email, make the purchase while never leaving the site, use their credit card but only rarely get the reward promised. There is absolutely no help to be had for this apparently common problem. Worse, after you've already purchased, they'll send an even more enticing offer. It feels like a scam.
This website is doing fradulent things
This website is doing fradulent things. They'd attract you with exclusive deals but after you placed the order, completely complying with their terms, they'd deny you rewards and fabricate a bunch of disclaimers that were never communicated with you. Their customer service is not helpful, would not look into the details, and would only reply with automatic messages.
Stay away from them.
The Help Center would not investigate a fraud on my record.
I used this service for years and liked it quite a bit. Recently, I spent quite a bit on a hotel, and had a large amount of credit due back to me. A day after it was posted I noticed that all but the cents had disappeared and someone had bought a Macy's Gift Card off my record. I changed both my email and Capital One Shopping passwords, but despite that, the next 2 credits that came due were quickly converted by someone else into Macy's gift cards. The help center stated that they could only provide a one-time courtesy replacement for the first card, but they showed no interest in investigating the issue. Although I went to the website within an hour of when they notified me that the credit was posted (as soon as I was able) it had already been converted into a Macy's gift card. I checked with Macy's that evening: all 4 cards had zero balances. They said they had no way of tracking who made the purchases. Capital One said they could do nothing more, and I should take it up with the merchant. Since I changed my passwords between fraudulent occurrences and no person I know has access to my email, I believe that it was either a bot, or an inside job.
It's like playing russian roulette
It's like playing russian roulette, you don't know if you are actually going to get the advertised deal until far after you buy it. You rarely get the deal. This should actually be illegal
EXPECT THE CAPITALONESHOPPING APP TO FAIL YOU
For the most part the site works as it should. you activate your reward and make your purchase and the app picks up the transaction and lists your expected reward. But, since December I have had at least 6 occasions where the app never picked up my transaction/credited my reward. Customer service wants you to PROVE everything when their app fails. Trying to get help for what you expected and deserved when you made your purchase is like having to be a defense attorney in a court case where YOU are on trial. They will deny, deny deny and refuse to give you what you rightly deserve when using their site. My advice: TAKE SCREENSHOTS OF YOUR ACTIVATED REWARD OFFER WHEN IT POPS UP ON YOUR SCREEN AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE!!! treat each purchase as if you EXPECT THEIR APP TO FAIL and not pay out what they say they will. They will give you the run around and make you feel like you are the one who did something wrong when it is not your fault. PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR EXPECTED REWARDS. Their app sucks. And their customer service is worse. If you do dispute their failure to offer you the advertised reward expect at least a 30 day wait period to contact them and a 10 email exchange back and forth before you feel you are getting anywhere. Also, should you go online to search out what reward was offered by capitaloneshopping for a particular vendor on the date, you will find that it is nowhere to be found and no public listing of this information is available, so with out your PROOF/SCREENSHOT OF THE ACTIVATED REWARD they will treat you like you are lying.
Immediately got Banned for No Reason
I tried to use the account activation bonus for eBay (spend $100 get $50) but my account got terminated the day after I spent the $100. So now I have no rewards and no account!
Update: I emailed customer service and got a canned response saying that inbox is no longer monitored. There was a link for a supposed online help form. Followed it to a page that would briefly show some info and then would change to a loading error code. Found a different help page on my own which provided a customer service email… you guessed it, the one that’s no longer monitored.
Capital One Shopping Needs To Be Shut Down
I just had a terrible experience with this scam company. I had been saving my points for a very long time, enough to have $235 in credit coming. I decided to cash in so linked one of my credit cards with them so they could put the cash into my card company. They said they had to verify my account. A week later, I got an email from my credit card company saying that Capital One Shopping would not receive any information from them. I checked my Capital One Shopping account and it showed I only had 25¢ credit in my account, a far cry from $235.25 that was in there a week before. I started checking and saw that there was a gift card from Macy's in the amount of $235 that I could claim. I emailed them and said I didn't shop at Macy's and if I had to get a gift card to let me choose which one I wanted. Next thing I know I get another email saying "sorry, your account has been deleted, and once you delete your account, we have no way of checking on anything." I was furious. I went to my Capital One Shopping folder in my email as I always saved the credits I got from them as well as having a quick link to the site. I don't know how they did it, but my folder was empty! Not a single email in it that I could use as proof that I had earned all those credits. I wish to God I had never started with them and stayed with the tried & true like MyPoints, Swagbucks, and InBox Dollars, anyone but Capital One Shopping, they are a very fraudulent site and needs to be shut down!
The worse experienced yet. Closing my account.
Consumers note that tracking disappears from their account purchase history, leaving them with no official record or statement to prove they earned a discount. When users try to dispute missing statement credits, they report being ignored by help teams or getting stuck in endless verification loops. Users frequently report that the platform tracks their activation but fails to pay out the promised cash-back or shopping credits.
3 phones and years later this malware…
3 phones and years later this malware of a extension keeps making its way back. Received an email yesterday 🤯. Thought I finally scrubbed all of it a long time ago. It is a scam. I do not believe it is part of capital one.
where is my cashback
when i bought a hobbs dress several months ago i was offered a 25% cashback with Capital One. i was told how much this was and it was confirmed. however since then i have heard nothing even though i should have received it back in June at the latest. it was due 30-90 days after purchase. There is no information i can find on how i get this. i have used Quidco cashback site very successfully for several years and they are always fair and pay the cashback. this just seems like scam. i could be wrong but if so would expect they will contact me
All of my money and pending transactions are gone!
UPDATE: They have now closed my account and blocked me. I can't believe this scam is associated with Capital One.
Had more than $600 and many pending transactions in my account. Went in to account and now have 0 balance and no history at all even though I have redeemed money for gift cards in the past and have had many transactions. Contacted customer service via the only way possible - email - and finally received a response today. They requested I send them some information and after I did, they said they could do nothing because I closed my account. WHAT??? My account is still open with a 0 balance and no history or transactions. This is fraud, and if my account is not made whole again, I will pursue other ways to make it so.
Allll of the previous negative reviews…
Allll of the previous negative reviews are true. Rewards are not honored or taken away. There is no phone # of course and the people responding via e-mail are idiots. Save yourself the hassle.
